Things to Do All Labor Day Weekend
- Houston Beer Run at Local Independent Breweries Around Greater Houston | Daily – Visit one or more of your favorite local breweries (or find some new ones) to grab beers to-go at the second edition of Houston Beer Run. Expect giveaways and swag pop-ups at many breweries from Texas Beer Collective, who created the initiative to support local brewers who’ve been forced to close their taprooms, patios, and beer gardens since early July. Times vary.
- House of Cards at Discovery Green | Daily | FREE – Marvel at the 18-foot tall double-sided House of Cards which sport custom artwork created by 20 Houston-based artists on the Sarofim Picnic Lawn at Discovery Green. The display is open daily, but RSVPs are required for socially distanced viewing for most time slots from Friday evening through Sunday evening. Times vary.
- Comedian Godfrey at Houston Improv | Daily – Chicago-born Godfrey—you may have seen him in Zoolander, Soul Plane, or his Comedy Central specials—brings his irreverent, good-natured comedy to H-Town for six socially distanced sets of hilarity. Tickets are available by table only and start at $40 for two people. Times vary by date.
- Beaches & Activities on the Water Around Greater Houston | Daily – Socially distance while exploring beaches, lakes, and more in Galveston Island, Clear Lake and the Bay Area, Baytown, Brazosport, Port Arthur, Lake Conroe and The Woodlands. The first edition in our new Around Houston series offers up a deep dive on ways to cool off on Labor Day weekend, while maintaining your own bubble.
- Houston Restaurant Weeks 2020 Around Greater Houston | Daily – The popular Houston Restaurant Weeks recently extended to Wednesday, September 30, 2020, which means you can still get your fix from beloved Houston restaurants. All meal purchases generate $1 to help the Houston Food Bank feed hungry Houstonians. $20 lunches and brunches; $35 or $45 for dinners.
- Bill & Ted Face the Music Movie Screening at Moonstruck Drive-In Cinema at East River | Friday & Sunday – The mid-age sequel to the irreverent 1980s classic time-traveling, world-bending buddy flicks, Bill & Ted Face the Music (Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter) explores the complete and utter failure of the Wyld Stallions to save humanity with their music, likely with the help of their rocking daughters. Thanks, princesses. $25 per vehicle. 11:30pm both days.
- Tenet Movie Screening at Moonstruck Drive-In Cinema at East River | Friday to Monday – Check out the highly anticipated film from noir mastermind Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception) starring John David Washington and Robert Pattinson, revolving a time-bending secret agent trying to stop World War III. $25 per vehicle. Showtimes vary.
- Labor Day Weekend Tours of The Orange Show | Saturday & Sunday – Get a detailed, in-depth tour of the wildly bizarre folk art creation in the East End. Tours of no more than eight last about 30 minutes. 10am to 2pm both days.
- Labor Day Weekend Tours of The Beer Can House | Saturday & Sunday – Also offered by the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art, tours offer a view of the Rice Miliatary bungalow that was transformed into the home of more than 50,000 beer cans. Tours of eight or less last about 30 minutes. $5. 2pm to 6pm both days.
- Labor Day Weekend at The Rustic | Saturday to Monday | No Cover – Kick off your Labor Day Weekend in Downtown on an open-air patio complete with all-day $5 frozen cocktails and free live music all weekend long. 10am to 10pm daily.
- Fight to the Finish – 1945: The Final Year at Lone Star Flight Museum | Daily – Explore how Allied forces took to the air to bring an end to World War II and get a look at a collection of original war effort posters at this exhibition, open for summer and fall 2020. Times vary.
- Dining “Out” at Home in Houston: Must Try Takeout Meals & Dishes | Daily – Discover our favorite picks for delicious H-Town takeout spots for Thai, Italian cuisine, Chinese cuisine, breakfast, tacos, vegan dishes, barbecue, desserts, lunch, sandwiches, burgers, locally-crafted beer, and many more.

- Houston Rockets present Dinner’s On US Drive-Thru Food Distribution at Toyota Center | FREE – Head Downtown to utilize the “Dinner’s On Us” program created by Second Servings which focuses on providing take-home, chef-prepared family meals to fellow Houstonians in need. 10am to noon.
- Mohammad Ali Bhatti’s Roots to Revolution exhibition at Archway Gallery | FREE – Schedule one last look at Archway’s August exhibit from Mohammad Ali Bhatti in its final day before closing. Bhatti’s exhibition touches on themes inspired by in mysticism, people, current social issues, and more. Appointments for groups of 10 of less must be made in advance. 1pm to 5pm daily.
- Apollo Chamber Players’ 20×2020 Virtual Festival Episode 3: Thracian Airs of Besime Sultan on YouTube & Facebook Live | FREE – Tune in for a performance of the originally commissioned piece by Erberk Eryilmaz. The show part of a series of 20 musical performances airing now through the beginning of November. 7pm.
- Trivia Under the Stars at CityCentre | FREE – Snag a seat at the plaza at CityCentre near Memorial City to take part in a family-friendly, in-person trivia night where visitors can win prizes by answering questions about sports, history, music and more. 7pm.
- McGonigel’s Mucky Duck presents Nathan Quick in Concert on Facebook & YouTube Live | FREE – Get down with a lively online-only set from Houston native singer-songwriter Nathan Quick when he hits the virtual stage playing his brand of southern rock, blues, and country. 7pm to 8:30pm.
- Do Something Trivia presents Virtual Charitable Trivia Night on Zoom – Take part in a fun virtual trivia night while raising funds and awareness for the Grown in Haiti organization, which promotes reforestation and community development in Haiti. $30 per team. 7pm to 9pm.

- Ready-to-Eat Feges BBQ & Bubbles at 13 Celsius – Chow down on finger-licking smoked meats, sides and more at Midtown’s 13 Celsius for an evening of BBQ paired with bubbly. Menu items prices vary. 6pm to 8pm.
- McGonigel’s Mucky Duck presents John Egan in Concert – Catch a blues-driven, in-person set from highly-praised local singer-songwriter, John Egan when McGonigel’s Mucky Duck hosts a live concert. This event will also be live-streamed on Mucky Duck’s Facebook and Youtube Live. $120 for a table for four. 7pm.
- Drive-In Movie Screening of Ex Machina at Shady Acres Saloon – Catch a live screening of Ex Machina, a psychological sci-fi thriller that follows a programmer who wins a mysterious trip from his CEO to administer the Turing test to a beautiful robot. $30 per vehicle. 7:15pm and 10:05pm.
- 2 Year Anniversary Sip & Shop at Buffalo Soldier National Museum | FREE – Celebrate two years of shopping fun when BLCK Market kicks off their in-person Sip & Shop event at Buffalo Soldier National Museum with a slew of raffles, discounts, treats and more. 6pm to 10pm.
- Stages Studio Sessions: Kelley Peters in “Songs My Father Taught Me” Online Performance | FREE – Delight in a special online concert that celebrates the importance of storytelling within families and the songs, humor, and love that get passed down with each generation. The shows are free with a reservation, and links to the performance will be emailed to registered viewers. 7:30pm.
- Wayne’s World Movie Screening at City Acre Brewing Co. | FREE – Party on with Wayne and Garth at City Acre Brewing Co. while rocking out to a free outdoor movie screening of the 1992 comedy classic, Wayne’s World starring Mike Myers and Dana Carvey. While you’re there, check out City Acre’s brand new frozen cocktail for the occasion, The Babe-raham Lincoln. 8pm to 10pm.
- The Pursuit of Happyness Movie Screening at Space City Shows Drive-In – Head over to EaDo for a screening of the 2006 film starring Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith, The Pursuit of Happyness at the Space City Shows drive-in theater. There will also be a live DJ and a variety of food trucks announced prior to the event. Tickets are $30 per vehicle. Up to 6 people per vehicle. Gates open at 7:30pm. Movie begins at 8:30pm.
