- 23rd Annual Townes Van Zandt Wake at Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe in Galveston | Ne Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1 | No Cover – Site of his famed 1973 recording, Live at the Old Quarter, the Galveston singer-songwriter destination hosts an annual New Year’s Day wake for legendary musician Townes Van Zandt, inviting anyone to the stage for a performance of his songs. 5pm.
- Gladys Knight & The Pips at Arena Theatre | Thursday, January 9 – One of the greatest singers of all time, the chart-topping, Grammy-winning Gladys Knight arrives in Houston with her backing band to perform classic hits like “Midnight Train to Georgia” and “Love Overboard.” Tickets range from $35 to over $125, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 8:30pm.
- Morgan Wallen, with Jon Langston, Ashland Craft at Revention Music Center | Friday, January 10 – After appearing on The Voice in 2014, Morgan Wallen has begun carving out a country career, culminating in his 2018 release, If I Know Me. - BowiElvis Fest at The Continental Club | Saturday, January 11 – Now in its eleventh year, the annual celebration of David Bowie and Elvis Presley honors both of the legends who happen to share the same birthday. Local bands take to multiple stages to perform the hits, and guests can also enjoy an outdoor party, live burlesque, face painting, games, a costume contest and more. Tickets are $20. 7pm.
- Seventeen at Smart Financial Centre | Wednesday, January 15 – The K-pop boy band embarks on a world tour that stops through Sugar Land, after releasing their third studio album, An Ode, in September 2019. - Big Freedia, with The Suffers at House of Blues | Friday, January 17 – Appearing on Beyoncé’s “Formation” and “Nice for What” with Drake, the Queen Diva remains the leading voice of New Orleans hip hop. - Machine Head at House of Blues | Thursday, January 23 – The heavy metal band from California takes to touring for a celebration of the 25th anniversary of their debut studio album, Burn My Eyes. - Dwight Yoakam at Arena Theatre | Thursday, January 23 – The legendary country artist (and occasional actor) arrives in Houston with his catalog of country-and-western favorites from his award-winning studio albums. - Phora at White Oak Music Hall | Saturday, January 25 – Known for his vulnerability in addressing his past, the Anaheim rapper makes a stop in Houston following his third studio release, Bury Me With Dead Roses. - Trey Anastasio at House of Blues | Saturday, January 25 – The mind behind legendary jam band Phish, Trey Anastasio recently dropped his tenth studio solo album, Ghosts of the Forest, and will swing through Downtown’s House of Blues to support its release.
