Great Gobbler Thanksgiving Week at Children’s Museum Houston | Monday to Saturday – It’s a week of hands on gratitude in the Museum District, with a new slew of events all week long. Expect the pardoning of a live turkey, storytime and crafts, Pumpkin’ Chunkin’ and more. After Thanksgiving the Great Gobbler hands the holiday season over to Santa in a fun skit. Included with museum admission, which is $19.95. Closed Thursday. 9am to 5pm.
Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt at The Woodlands Children’s Museum | Wednesday – Kids can embark on a Turkey Day-inspired scavenger hunt. Included with museum admission, which is $9 for ages 1 and up. 9:30am to 2pm.
Houston Turkey Trot at The Galleria | Thursday – Join in the long-running Uptown Houston tradition and race or walk in a 10K, 5K, or Kids Run for ages 12 and under. $50 and up; $40 for Kids Run. 7:30am.
75th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in Downtown | Thursday | FREE – Get into the holiday spirit at the 75th Annual Houston Thanksgiving Day Parade, a showcase of sensational floats, high-flying balloons, marching bands, artistic entries, and live entertainment marching through the streets of Downtown. 9am to 11am.
Thanksgiving at Kemah Boardwalk | Thursday | FREE – Skip the usual routine and head to Kemah Boardwalk for an afternoon of thrilling rides, delicious food, and scenic waterfront views. Free to visit, but ride passes and food vary in price. 10am to 6pm.
Holiday in the Plaza at CityCentre | Saturday | FREE – Pose with Santa and 2 real reindeer, then bask in holiday classics sung by the Houston Show Choir. Bring a new, unwrapped toy in exchange for a complimentary picture with Santa. 11am to 4pm.
Blackout & Collage Poetry at CAMH | Saturday | FREE – Create a poem about your family history using printed text from children’s books and magazines in a hands-on experience for all ages, Inspired by the exhibition, Vincent Valdez: Just a Dream… 1pm to 4pm.
Tree Lighting Ceremony at Pearland Town Center | Saturday | FREE – Santa arrives shortly after 6pm to light the tree and set off a brief fireworks display. Expect live music, an LED dance floor, swings and seesaws, a holiday gift market. 6pm to 9pm.
Oh, What Fun! Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration at City Place | Sunday | FREE – December launches with a holiday bang with a pop-up celebration in Spring featuring a giant gingerbread village, trackless train rides, photos with Santa, snow experiences, a holiday DJ, face painting and balloon artists, a vendor market, and more. 3pm to 7pm.
Green Mountain Energy Ice at Discovery Green | Daily, including Thursday – Lace up your skate rentals and head out onto the ice at the beloved winter tradition in the heart of Houston’s official front yard. $18 includes skate rentals for 75 minutes. Tickets must be ordered online in advance. Times vary.
