- Run Houston! at Sam Houston Park | New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1 – The Run Houston! series gets a fresh start in 2020 with a New Year’s Day 5K, 10K, and Kids 1K at Sam Houston Park. Registration is $50 for the 5K or 10K; $30 for the Kids 1K. Gates open at 6:30am; first event at 8:30am.
- Houston Rockets vs. Philadelphia 76ers at Toyota Center | Friday, January 3 – Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and the Sixers arrive in Houston for a cross-conference clash at Toyota Center. Tickets range from $34 to over $1,000, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7pm.
- Houston Texans vs. Buffalo Bills at NRG Stadium: AFC Wild Card Game | Saturday, January 4 – After clinching the Number 4 seed, the Texans will host the Bills with a trip on the line to the AFC Divisional Round against either the Baltimore Ravens or Kansas City Chiefs. - Monster Jam at NRG Stadium | Saturday, January 25 – Watch Grave Digger, Monster Mutt and more in high-flying, eardrum-rattling action when these gargantuan trucks take to the dirt. - WWE Royal Rumble 2020 at Minute Maid Park | Sunday, January 26 – One of the year’s premier wrestling events, the Royal Rumble returns to Houston for the first time since 1989, featuring thirty wrestlers in a ring, duking it out to be the last one standing. - USWNT vs. Panama; Haiti vs. Costa Rica at BBVA Stadium | Friday, January 31 – With the Olympics around the corner, the back-to-back World Cup champs will play a three-game qualifying run in Houston (matches also take place on Tuesday, January 28 and Monday, February 3).
