- DaCamera presents Etienne Charles’ Creole Soul at Wortham Theater Center | Friday, January 14 – Making a Houston debut, jazz trumpeter Etienne Charles and his band, Creole Soul, take the Wortham Center stage to perform their distinctive version of modern jazz. $37.50 and up. 8pm.

It kicks off with the Beerfooter 5K Fun Run along the beach, followed by the day’s main event. $12. 10am to 6pm.
- 26th Annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration at Children’s Museum Houston Saturday, January 15 – Honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with messages of unity, justice, and peace at Children’s Museum Houston. This year’s celebration includes a jazz ensemble performance, peace march, awards ceremony, and an all-day display of the “I Have a Dream” speech. $5 per person. 11am to 2pm.

- 50th Annual Chevron Houston Marathon in Downtown | Sunday, January 16 | FREE to Watch – Though you might not be able to lace up for Houston’s signature run event, you can still celebrate the runners as they pound pavement from Downtown through the city’s districts like Montrose, Medical Center, the Galleria, Memorial Park, and back again to finish at Avenida de las Americas.
