- Father John Misty in Concert at White Oak Music Hall | Sunday, October 1 – See the notorious singer-songwriter, Father John Misty when he performs his own sarcastic brand of Americana from his latest album, Pure Comedy, at White Oak Music Hall on the Near Northside. Tickets start at $35. 6pm.
- Keep it Brassy at Music Box Theatre | Sunday, October 1 through Saturday, October 21 – Motown, Broadway, funk and big band classics are all on the program for this cabaret, featuring Music Box Theater’s excellent cast – backed by G Sharp and MBT 3. Tickets are $29 for general seating; $39 for reserved. Friday and Saturday 7:30pm; Sunday 2pm.
- Karbachtoberfest at Karbach Brewing Co. | Thursday, October 5 to Sunday, October 7 | No Cover – Celebrate Karbachtoberfest with four weekends of festivities, a German inspired menu, beer, live performances and more. In terms of music, come out Thursday to see Otis the Destroyer and his brand of blues rock, Friday for Flow Tribe, and Saturday for Blaze X Black. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Event begins at noon; music begins at 6pm.
- Thursday Night Concerts: Ty Herndon at Discovery Green | Thursday, October 5 | FREE – Show your pride during an outdoor concert by Mississippi-born country artist, Ty Herndon and openers The Band Hennessy at this concert at Discovery Green in the heart of Downtown. 7pm.
- 38th Annual Festival Chicano at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Thursday, October 5 to Saturday, October 7 | No Cover – Head to the 38th Annual Festival Chicano, a cultural celebration of Chicano music from Tejano and Conjunto, to Mariachi and Orchestra at the Miller Outdoor Theatre in the heart of the Museum District. The festival is a reflection of the artistic creativity that has developed in the Chicano cultural experience after centuries of influence from native peoples, Mexico, Europeans, and the U.S.A. Historically shaped by many diverse styles such as Mexican
rancheras, corridos, mariachi, tejano, conjunto, big band, rhythm and blues, country, rock and roll, and more, the celebration ois that of a truly unique and original American sound. 7pm nightly. - RGFF Charity Pub Crawl with The Suffers in Concert | Saturday, October 7 –Begin the RGFF Charity Pub Crawl at Lucky’s Pub, make your way to other bars in EaDo, and then head back to Lucky’s Pub to end the evening with a concert by The Suffers. This charity pub crawl benefits the Robert Garner Firefighter Foundation. General admission starts at $25 and includes 5 Karbach beers; VIP packages are available for $55. 2pm to 7pm.
- Community Night Out Weekend in Missouri City | Saturday, October 7 and Sunday, October 8 | No Cover – The “Show Me City” hosts its 2-day 2nd Annual Community Night Out weekend at their City Hall Complex. On Saturday evening you can jam out to live performances by national performing jazz artists Kim Waters and Kyle Turner, zydeco band Step Rideau & the Zydeco Outlaws, country singer Coffey Anderson and Mariachi groups. Festivities will also include food trucks, a rock climbing wall, event booths that highlight local businesses and face painting and bounce houses for the kiddos. Saturday 4pm to 10pm; Sunday 2:30pm to 8:30pm.
- Lunada 2017 at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Saturday, October 14 | No Cover – Lunada, the night of the full moon, is a cultural event epitomizing the gatherings held for many years in small towns in Mexico and other parts of Latin America. The Houston Symphony offers an outstanding performance of excellent compositions created with distinctive Mexican, Latin American, and Spanish influence. Come together to share music, lyrics, poetry, and stories, in what’s sure to be a night full of appreciation for Latin American culture. 7:30pm.
- Symphonic Spooktacular at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Sunday, October 15 | No Cover – Put on your Halloween costume and enjoy a family-friendly performance from the Houston Symphony in the heart of the Museum District. Dress in your Halloween best with Houston Symphony’s orchestra filled with witches and goblins as they get into the Halloween spirit with creepy classics of the orchestral repertoire. 7pm.
- Brazilian Food & Music Festival at The Wildcatter Saloon | Saturday, October 28 – Eat authentic Brazilian food at this family-friendly food and music festival at The Wildcatter Saloon in Katy. Indulge in Brazilian food, Caipirinha, Guarana and other Brazilian beverages, dance to live Brazilian music, check out crafts from local vendors, activities for children and more. 11am to 7pm.
