- Houston Cougars vs. Prairie View A&M Panthers at TDECU Stadium | Saturday, September 7 – The Coogs kickoff their home opener against Prairie View ahead of an exciting season of high expectations. - Advocare Texas Kickoff Classic: Houston Cougars vs. Washington State Cougars at NRG Stadium | Friday, September 13 – Making their second appearance in this annual early season game, the Houston Cougars will take on another squad of Cougars from the Pacific Northwest. - Rice Owls vs. Texas Longhorns at NRG Stadium | Saturday, September 14 – For the first time in four years, Rice and Texas add another meeting to their rivalry that dates back over a century. - Houston Roller Derby at Revention Music Center | Saturday, September 21 – The 2019 season comes to a close with the Bayou City Bosses vying against the winner of a late-August matchup between Psych Ward Sirens and the Valkyries for the Houston Roller Derby Championship. Tickets start at $15. 6pm.
- Houston Dash vs. Washington Spirit at BBVA Stadium | Wednesday, September 25 – The Dash go into their final home game of the season, hoping for a late push into the playoffs. - Houston Texans vs. Carolina Panthers at NRG Stadium | Sunday, September 29 – The Texans close out September with their fourth game of the season, facing a Panthers team that struggled to get going last season. - Houston Rockets vs. Shanghai Sharks at Toyota Center | Monday, September 30 – Basketball is back and the new-look Rockets kick off preseason at home against the Yao Ming-owned Shanghai Sharks.
