  • Octoberfest Japanese Style at Izakaya – Izakaya, a Japanese pub in Midtown, hosts its own version of Octoberfest Japanese style where they will be joining up with Hitachino Nest Beers, one of Japan’s major producers, to hoist nearly a dozen top Japanese beers. $35 per person. 5pm to 8pm.
  • Stranger Things Trivia Night at Around the Corner | No Cover – Show off everything you know about the “upside down” before the 2nd season of Netflix’s Stranger Things begins at Around the Corner. 7pm to 10pm.
  • It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Trivia at Under the Radar – Dress up like your favorite character from the show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and head to Under the Radar brewery for a trivia night. 7pm to 10pm.
  • Humming House in Concert at White Oak Music Hall – Nashville-based band Humming House performs at White Oak Music Hall with opener Becca Mancari. Tickets range from $12 to $16. 7pm to 11pm.
  • 1, 2, 3 Minute Poetry Slam at Avant Garden Houston – Enjoy a poetry slam, a competitive event in which poets perform their work and are judged by members of the audience, featuring Edwin Bodney at Avant Garden in Montrose. Cover charge $5. 7:30pm to 10:30pm.
  • Game of Thrones Trivia Night at Your Pie in Downtown – Every Wednesday in October, Your Pie on Main Street will be hosting a Game of Thrones trivia night. They’ll be serving up specialty Mystical GoT Neapolitan-style pizzas, giving away more than $50 in weekly prizes, and offering up $12.99 pizza and beer/wine specials for players ready to test their GoT knowledge and earn the trivia title of “Breaker of Chains”. No cover to play; $12.99 for Build-Your-Pizza plus draft beer (under $6) or house wine (cab or chardonnay). 7:30pm.

  • College Night at CAMH | FREE – Enjoy an evening of free music by DJ Flash Gordon Parks, pizza, art, and crafts as you explore the current exhibitions Annabeth Rosen: Fired, Broken, Gathered, Heaped and Telepathic Improvisation at the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston. 6pm to 8pm.
  • Tove Lo in Concert at House of Blues – Swedish pop singer and songwriter Tove Lo hits the stage at House of Blues in Downtown. Tickets range from $25 to $40. 7pm.
  • The Kill Kill Kill Show at Insomnia Gallery | No Cover – Get spooked this Friday the 13th at The Kill Kill Kill Show, an event that will feature art, vendors, live music, DJs, a costume contest and more at Insomnia Gallery. 7pm.
  • Houston Strong Fundraiser Event at Houston Food Bank – Houston’s designers, model agencies, event planners, businesses, and local artists have joined forces to provide much need aid to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Expect a night of couture fashion and uplifting performances. Tickets range from $15 to $35. 7pm to 10pm.
  • Wesley Jensen in Concert at Axelrad | No Cover – Have a night full of dreamy psych-pop music when Wesley Jensen performs with openers Everyone is Dirty and Mojave Red at the Axelrad beer garden. 7pm.
  • Good vs. Evil Drag Show at South Beach – Get ready to be dazzled as 14 local drag queens split into 2 teams of “Good” and “Bad” and compete to win in this Halloween-themed show at the LGBT nightclub, South Beach. There will be no cover before 10:30pm. Cover charge after 10:30pm is TBA. 8pm.
  • Mixed Media at MFAH – MFAH Mixed Media returns for a fall bash celebrating The Glamour & Romance of Oscar de la Renta exhibition. Show off your Oscar de la Renta-inspired threads & dance the night away with drinks, food-truck bites, and access to the new exhibition. Tickets are $25 for nonmembers and $22 for members. 8pm.
  • Hot Mess: A Montrose Social and Dance Party at Grand Prize Bar | No Cover – Spend your Friday the 13th night at this Montrose dance party hosted by DJ Fredster and DJ Mr. Castillo and special guest DJ Dayta at Grand Prize Bar. 10pm.
