  • Shadow Puppet Theatre at The Woodlands Children’s Museum | Thursday, January 25 – Bring the kids for a story told with animated shadows created by manipulating cut-outs behind a sheet in front of a bare bulb lamp at The Woodlands Children’s Museum. Each week will be a different story. Tickets are $6.
  • Beauty and the Beast Movie Screening at Levy Park | Friday, January 26 | FREE – Bring the whole family to watch an outdoor screening of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at Levy Park. 6:30pm.
  • Cars 3 Movie Screening at Memorial City | Friday, January 26 | FREE – Bring the kids to watch a screening of the Pixar movie Cars 3 on the Square at Memorial City. 7pm to 9pm.
  • Harlem Globetrotters at NRG Arena | Friday, January 26 through Saturday, January 27 – With their amazing athletic, acrobatic, and clowning skills, the team of insanely talented men and women known as the Harlem Globetrotters is sort of like the greatest circus troupe you’ve ever seen — but with way more slam dunks. Watch them play at NRG Arena against the Washington Generals. Tickets start at $53.50, but you may find limited discounted tickets starting at $24. 7:30pm on Saturday; 2pm on Sunday.
  • Nature Revealed: Armadillos at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center | Saturday, January 27 – In this class, you will explore the strange anatomy, odd behavior, and rich history of armadillos. As armadillos are nocturnal, you won’t be seeing any during the class, but you will examine plenty of real armadillo specimens. For people ages 13 and up. Tickets are $35 for nonmembers; $20 for members. 9:30am to 11:30am.
  • Monster Jam at NRG Stadium | Saturday, January 27 – Watch the high-flying, eardrum-rattling action of these gargantuan trucks at the Monster Jam at NRG Stadium. See the Grave Digger, Monster Mutt and more in person on a huge Saturday night. Tickets range from $15 to over $180, but TicketNetwork’s resale market might offer cheaper or better tickets. 7pm.
  • Houston Hot Chocolate 15K and 5K Road Race at Sesquicentennial Park | Sunday, January 28 – Benefitting the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Hot Chocolate 15K and 5K invite runners on a course that snakes along Buffalo Bayou with a goodie bag full of chocolate treats at the other end. Registration for this event is $49 for the 5K; $74 for the 15K event. 7:15am.
  • Writing Young Adult Fiction Workshop at Writespace | Sunday, January 28 – This five-hour workshop, instructed by Joy Preble, will present an overview of crafting novels for young adult readers at Writespace. The focus will be primarily on contemporary fiction but they will touch on other genres, as well. Tickets range from $75 to $105. 10am.
