  • Houston Rockets vs. New Orleans Pelicans at Toyota Center | Monday, October 19 – Cheer the Rockets on during this preseason game against New Orleans at the Toyota Center. Tickets start at $20, but you may find cheaper or better seats on the TicketNetwork resale site. 7pm.
  • Caps for Sale at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Head to Miller Outdoor Theatre for a free performance of Caps for Sale under the stars. Get a reserved seat or bring your own chair to watch this musical production based on the book by Esphyr Slobodkina. 11am.
  • Oktoberfest at the Rice Farmers Market | Tuesday, October 20 | Free to attend – The Farmers Market at Rice University will have a German twist this week as Oktoberfest hits the market. Enjoy live music from The Hecklers and brews from Saint Arnold, No Label and Buffalo Bayou Brewing while shopping for locally sourced products and ingredients. 3:30pm to 6:30pm.
  • Girvan & Kininvie Whisky Tasting at Reserve 101 in Downtown | Tuesday, October 20 – Join Scotsman and Scotch Ambassador for the Scotch and Malt Whisky Society of America, Ricky Crawford, at a special Tuesday night Scotch tasting at the premier whisky (and whiskey) bar in Texas. $20. 6:30pm.
  • Oyster Dinner at Prohibition Supperclub & Bar | Tuesday, October 20 – Chef Richie Nakano of San Francisco and Ryan Lachaine of Houston will join Prohibition chefs Matt Wommack and Ben McPherson to create a four-course dinner. Featuring oysters as a signature item on the menu, this dinner at Prohibition won’t disappoint. $75. 7pm to 10pm.
  • Jandek in Concert at Walter’s Downtown | Tuesday, October 20 – Houston-based musician Jandek will perform his folk/blues tunes during a concert at Walter’s Downtown. $5 in advance; $8 at the door. 9pm.
  • Chef Dinner at Blue Heron Farm | Wednesday, October 21 – Experience farm to table cuisine in a whole new way with a farm fresh menu from Chef Monica Pope at Blue Heron Farm. $215. 2pm.
  • Sip & Stroll at Tony Mandola’s | Wednesday, October 21 – Wine and dine during Tony Mandola’s monthly Sip & Stroll event. Visit four stations for heavy hors d’eouvres and wine pairings featuring dishes like goat cheese and prosciutto crostini, ceviche and smoked lamb lollipops. $35. 5:30pm.
  • Tacolandia at Buffalo Bayou Park | Saturday, October 24 – Chow down on taco samples from local chefs and enjoy live music and a cash bar during this event presented by Houston Press. $25; $65 VIP. 4pm to 7pm.
  • Ghostly Gardens at Moody Gardens in Galveston | Sunday, October 25 | FREE – Enjoy free trick-or-treating, crafts, face-painting and a kids costume contest at Moody Gardens. Kids can enter the costume contest for a chance to win a prize. 10am to 6pm.
  • Loire Valley Wine Dinner at Bistro Menil | Sunday, October 25 – Enjoy Chef Greg Martin’s European inspired cuisine with wine pairings from the Loire Valley of France during this wine dinner at Bistro Menil.
