- Superchunk at The Secret Group | Thursday, May 3 – This longtime quartet, now pushing into their third decade, re-emerged with What a Time to Be Alive this February and have been touring its punk rock-stylings ever since. See them at the EaDo venue in a great show to start your month. Tickets are $16, but you may find better or cheaper tickets using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 8pm.
- Hearts of Animals (cassette release), Bask, Frog Hair at Vinal Edge | Saturday, May 5 – The Heights record store will host local band Hearts of Animals for their second full-length release on cassette, Human Size. This all-local bill also features free beer courtesy of No Label Brewery and is free. 7pm.
- Fleet Foxes and Amen Dunes at Revention Music Center | Monday, May 7 – The indie folk band arrives for a show that highlights their newest critically-acclaimed release, Crack-Up. Amen Dunes (who recently released their own new album, Freedom) supports for a must-see bill of fresh music. - Dr. Dog and Son Little at White Oak Music Hall | Sunday, May 13 – Just weeks after releasing Critical Equation, the indie rock group with a decade and a half of songs under their belt will come through town.
