Top 10 Things to Do with Kids This Week in Houston

  • ExploreAsia Summer Camps 2017: Unveiling the East at Asia Society | Monday, June 26 – In the class, Unveiling the East, kids will have the chance to discover the cultural treasures of Japan, Korea, and China. Students will learn about the close relationships and influences of these countries. This is the first class of this course. Registration is $275 for non-members; $225 for members. For each camp session, a $30 discount will be applied per additional child registered. 9am to 3pm.
  • Children’s Performance: Hear the Artists of Tomorrow at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Monday, June 26 and Tuesday, June 27 | FREE – The Houston Young Artists’ Concert will feature will feature young musicians performing masterpieces by the great composers at Miller Outdoor Theatre. 11am each day.
  • Freaky Friday at Alley Theatre | Tuesday, June 27 to Saturday, July 1 – Based on the hit Disney movies and the novel by Mary Rodgers, Freaky Friday finds an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swapping bodies. Tickets start at $33, but you may find limited discounted tickets for $26. Tuesday to Thursday at 7:30pm; Friday and Saturday at 8pm.
  • Disney’s The Lion King at The Hobby Center | Tuesday, June 27 to Sunday, July 2 – Experience the six-time Tony Award-winning musical, The Lion King, as it returns to The Hobby Center. Tickets start at $50, not including ticket fees. Tuesday to Thursday at 7:30pm; Friday and Saturday at 8pm; Sunday at 6:30pm.
  • Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Movie Screening on The Square at Memorial City | Thursday, June 29 | FREE –Bring your blankets and enjoy a special outdoor screening of the ’80s flick, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, with complimentary popcorn at Memorial City. 7pm to 9pm.
  • ‘90s Day and Dive-In Movie: Toy Story Movie Screening at Wet’n’Wild SplashTown | Friday, June 30 – Bring the kiddos to make a splash at Wet’n’Wild SplashTown in Spring and see Buzz meet Woody in the original Disney Pixar movie Toy Story. Tickets start at $38.99 for adults and $32.99 for kids. All day.
  • Friday Fundays with Frolic at Memorial City | Friday, June 30 | FREE – Take the kids to enjoy face painting, balloon art, jugglers, and to snap a picture with Frolic the dragon at Memorial City. 10am to noon.
  • The Curt Miller Magic & Comedy Show 2017 at Moody Gardens | Saturday, July 1 and Sunday, July 2  – Magician and illusionist Curt Miller blends magic, music, dance, and clean comedy. Expect to see people levitate and vanish before your eyes in this family-friendly Vegas-style magic show. Tickets are $23; $16 for ages 3 to 12. There will be a performance at 1pm and 7:30pm on both days.
  • Open Studio: Large-Scale Drawings at CAMH | Saturday, July 1 | FREE – Draw inspiration from Dutch artist Lily Van Der Stokker, featured in the exhibition A Better Yesterday. Use patterned paper and colorful masking tape to make large-scale drawings directly on the walls of CAMH’s Cullen Education Resource Room. 2pm to 4pm.
  • Kubo and the Two Strings Movie Screening at Pearland Town Center | Saturday, July 1 | FREE – Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy an outdoor screening of the animated movie Kubo and the Two Strings at Pearland Town Center. 6pm.
