  1. Nature Storytime at Nature Discovery Center | Wednesday, November 18 | FREE – Take your preschoolers to storytime at the nature center. These story hours often include nature walks, live animals and activities. 4pm. Free.  4:00pm.
  2. Free Museum Entry in the Museum District | Thursday, November 12 | FREE – Visit some of Houston’s most popular museums for free every Thursday. Hours vary for each venue.
  3. Debut of Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo | Starts Friday, November 20 – Zoo Lights opens for the season. Although it debuts this weekend, you can go on school nights to beat the crowds and enjoy cheaper admission. $19.95. 6pm to 11pm.
  4. Lighting of the Doves at Town Green Park at The Woodlands Waterway | Saturday, November 21 | FREE – This big event has a lot of activities for kids and ends with Santa arriving by boat and the doves being lit over the waterway. 3pm to 9pm.
  5. Glisten Holiday Lighting at CityCentre | Saturday, November 21 | FREE – Enjoy free hot chocolate and cider while you enjoy entertainment and an ice carving demonstration before the big snowflake lighting event. 7pm to 9pm.
  6. Via Colori Street Painting Festival at Hermann Square | Saturday, November 21 – Sunday, November 22 | FREE – Two hundred artists converge on the streets to create large works of art on the pavement and sidewalks around City Hall for this free festival. Saturday 10am to 6pm; Sunday 10am to 5pm.​​
  7. Lyle the Crocodile at MATCH | Sunday, November 22 – This is based on the book Lyle, Lyle Crocodile and The House on East 88th Street by Bernard Waber and is meant for families. For kids ages 3 and up. $15. 1pm and 4pm.
