  • True Stories Film Screening at MFAH | Monday, November 23 – Catch a showing of True Stories – a film about the imaginary town of Virgil, TX directed by Talking Heads lead singer David Byrne – at MFAH. $9; $7 for MFAH members and seniors; $5 for film buff members. 7pm.
  • Wortham Theater Center Tree Lighting Ceremony | Wednesday, November 25 | FREE – Gather in the grand foyer of the Wortham Center to watch the sugar plum fairy light the 25-foot tree, snack on holiday refreshments and enjoy an appearance from costumed Houston Ballet dancers, along with performances from Houston Grand Opera, Houston Masterworks Chorus, and The Invincible Czars. 11am to 1pm.
  • Field of Light at Discovery Green | Starts Tuesday, November 24 | FREE – Bruce Munro’s praised Field of Light installation will return to Discovery Green to illuminate the park with bulbs and stems connected by fiber optic cables. 3pm to 11pm daily.
  • Frostival! at Discovery Green | Tuesday, November 24 | FREE – Welcome winter during a festival with music from DJ Caps One, a snow zone, ice sculptures and more at Discovery Green. Don’t miss special guests including the Montrose Rollerblader, Rockets player Corey Brewer and Paul Wall. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Phantom of the Opera at the Hobby Center | Tuesday, November 24 through Sunday, November 2 – Experience the beloved story and thrilling score of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera at Hobby Center. Tickets start at $50 and not many are left for most shows, but you can still find hard-to-get or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale market. Showtimes vary.
  • Houston Rockets Home Games at Toyota Center | Wednesday, November 23 and Friday, November 27 – Cheer for the Rockets as they take on the Memphis Grizzlies and then the Philadelphia 76ers, respectfully, at home. Tickets start at $20, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 7pm both nights.
  • Turkey Trot near the Galleria | Thursday, November 26 – Start Thanksgiving Day off on the right foot by running in the annual Turkey Trot 10k or 5k. $40 10k, 10k wheelchair, 5k and 5k wheelchair timed; $35 10k and 5k untimed and sleep-in registration; $20 seniors 70 and older; $20 kids 1k for 12 and under. 7:20am.
  • Thanksgiving Day Parade in Downtown | Thursday, November 26 | FREE – Head Downtown for the 66th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade celebrating Houston families, food, sports, arts and entertainment for 20 blocks. See Mayor Parker, marching bands, Santa Claus, balloons, sports figures, celebrities, and more during this annual Thanksgiving Day tradition. 9am to 11am.
  • Uptown Houston Holiday Lighting | Thursday, November 26 | FREE – After you’ve had your fill of Thanksgiving turkey, load up the family and head to Post Oak Boulevard for holiday music, kettle corn, hot chocolate, plus live musical and dance performances. Watch as Santa and his reindeer light the 80 trees lining the boulevard and take in a fireworks display set to holiday tunes. 4pm to 10pm.
  • Saint Arnold Foamraiser at The Orange Show | Saturday, November 28 – Join Saint Arnold for a fundraising event at The Orange Show including a concert from Folk Family Revival, comedy acts from Beta Theater, and seasonal beers from Saint Arnold – including the Art Car IPA. $20 in advance; $25 at the door. 7pm.
  • Houston Texans vs. New Orleans Saints at NRG Stadium | Sunday, November 29 – Get loud for the Texans during their home game against the Jets at NRG. Tickets start at $97, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. Noon.
