  • Houston Astros vs. Cincinnati Reds at Minute Maid Park | Friday to Sunday – With the Reds stopping by Space City, fans have a chance over the Father’s Day weekend to enjoy Friday fireworks, a special Jeremy Peña bobblehead and other goodies at Minute Maid. $34 and up. Times vary.
  • Day of the Dad at Sugar Land Town Square | Friday to Sunday | FREE – This three-day celebration of the dads in your life starts with a ’70s rock tribute performance on Friday night, a slate of BBQ and country hits from the Kenny Chesney Barefoot Nation band on Saturday, and an all-day Sunday celebration with specials at Town Square eateries and a balloon wall photo op. Concerts start at 7:30pm.
  • Comedian Vir Das at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – The Improv sets the stage for Indian comedian, actor and musician Vir Das as he swings through while on the Greenlight Tour. $50 for 2, and up. Times vary.
  • Tokyo X at NRG Park | Saturday & Sunday – This two-day celebration of Japanese culture takes over NRG Park, with a bustling food market, local vendors, live performances, a car show, cosplay contests, anime merch, and more. Two-day passes are $65 and up; $30 for ages 6 to 12; free for ages 5 and under. Single-day passes are also available. Noon to 7pm.

  • Juneteenth Emancipation Celebration at the Grand 1894 Opera House – Galveston’s historic opera house hosts the second annual concert, featuring Grammy-winning gospel artist Reverend Smokie Norful, Zacardi Cortez and Sunday’s Best gospel diva Amber Bulluck. $20 and up. 7pm.
  • A Man Called Adam Movie Screening at Museum of Fine Arts Houston – Sammy Davis Jr. stars in this film about a jazz singer struggling with racial prejudice, a troubled past and alcoholism. The 1966 film is notable for its prominence of African Americans in front of and behind the camera. $9. 7pm.
  • Big Daddy Movie Screening at Urban South HTX Brewery | FREE – Get your Father’s Day weekend rolling with an indoor screening of the 1999 Adam Sandler comedy, Big Daddy, where the beloved comedian takes on an unexpected parenting role.
