  • Monday Market on the Bayou at Raven Tower | Monday, August 17 | No Cover – Stop by an evening artisanal market near the Woodland Heights to peruse fine art, delicious produce, and more local goods from vendors at this in-person pop-up market outside of White Oak Music Hall’s Raven Tower. 4pm to 8pm.
  • Houston Astros vs. Colorado Rockies: Live from Minute Maid Park on ATT SportsNet-SW | Monday, August 17 & Tuesday, August 18 – Watch on as Altuve and Correa lead the Astros into battle against the Colorado Rockies in a two-game series broadcast live from Minute Maid Park. Times vary.
  • Houston Rockets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder: NBA Playoffs in Orlando, Florida | Tuesday, August 18 – The Rockets get rolling in the first game of a best-of-seven Western Conference Quarterfinals series against ex-Rocket Chris Paul and the Oklahoma City Thunder. All games will be taking place in Orlando, Florida and will be nationally broadcast. 5:30pm.
  • Walmart Drive-In Theater Pop-Up in New Caney | Tuesday, August 18 & Wednesday, August 19 | FREE – RSVP in advance to catch a Tuesday night film screening of Back to the Future, with Wonder Woman on Wednesday, in the parking lot of the New Caney Walmart along US-59. Advance RSVP required. 7:30pm both nights.
  • Bars Across Houston Patio Pop-Up Series at Lucille’s | Thursday, August 20 – With bars across Houston closed up to patrons, a weekly series launched by Chef Chris Williams, of Museum District eatery Lucille’s, is a great way to support local mainstays and find new favorites. Folks can hit their Patio Pop-Up series where each Thursday, bar teams from across Houston will take over the patio for a full evening of service and collect 100-percent of the sales and tips generated by their curated cocktails. Reservations are required. 6pm.
  • Women of Wardrobe present Virtual Tootsies Summer Soiree | Thursday, August 20 | FREE – Hear from local designers Christy Lynn and Claudia Lobão about the inspiration behind their fall collections before doing some online shopping at the 17th annual Tootsies Summer Soiree benefitting Dress for Success Houston.   • Lone Star Flight Museum’s Plane Awesome Trivia Nights on Zoom | Thursday, August 20 – Flex your aviation knowledge while supporting Lone Star Flight Museum in this fun-filled virtual game night filled with prizes. This week’s topic will be on WWII History. Tickets start at $250 for a single player, with additional options for teams of four, for one or more trivia nights. 7pm.
  • Couples Therapy Comedy Retreat at Houston Improv | Thursday, August 20 – Bust a gut at this relationship-fueled comedy show filled with hilarious local comedians and hosted by Improv favorite Alan Adams. Tickets are available by table only. General admission tables are $40 for two people; $80 for four people; $150 for six people. 7:30pm.
  • Drive-In Movie Screening of Relic at Shady Acres Saloon | Friday, August 21 – Catch a live screening of Relic, a slow-burning horror flick that chronicles Kay and her mother’s increasingly volatile behavior which may be linked to an evil presence at their family’s country home. $30 per vehicle. 7:30pm and 9:55pm.
  • HTX Market at Spindletap Brewery | Saturday, August 22 | No Cover – Shop local with artisan goods, beers to-go and more when the HTX Market hits the Spindletap Brewery at this in-person vendor market. 1pm to 6pm.
  • Houston Symphony Live from Jones Hall: Mozart & Mazzoli | Saturday, August 22 | FREE – Dive into a virtual performance that features the innovative and seminal work of Pulitzer Prize award-winning African-American composer George Walker. Hear Walker’s powerful “Lyric for Strings”, as well as Mozart’s “Oboe Quartet in F Major” and other works. Tickets are $10. 8pm.
  • Orange Show Drive-In: Boyz N the Hood Movie Screening at Orange Show Center for Visionary Art | Sunday, August 23 – Get your drive-in movie fix in a uniquely Houston location at the legendary, folk-art filled Orange Show Center. Guests can enjoy a screening of the 1991 R-rated coming-of-age film, Boyz N the Hood, which stars Cuba Gooding Jr. as Tre, a young man sent to live with his father in a tough part of South Los Angeles. In addition to the film, you can munch on Arnaldo Richards’ Pico’s, who will be on-site serving food for purchase. $30 per vehicle. 8pm to 10:30pm.
  • Houston Restaurant Weeks 2020 | Daily – H-Town’s ever-popular month-long dining event dominates August, complete with a new takeout option, offering up multi-course, fixed-price menus at almost 200 establishments around greater Houston. For every meal sold, $1 will be donated to Houston Food Bank. $20 lunches and brunches; $35 or $45 for dinners.
