Pile on the beads as Mardi Gras festivites level up this year with parades, parties and concerts returning to eager crowds ready for revelry.
Mardi Gras headquarters is in Galveston, which celebrates its 113th celebration with balcony parties, live music and other official events stretched across two weekends and Fat Tuesday.
But there’s plenty more Mardi Gras fun to be had around Greater Houston and Galveston. We’ve gathered just some of the upcoming celebrations for you to “laissez les bons temps rouler.”
Mardi Gras 2024 Events in Houston & Galveston

- 113th Mardi Gras! Galveston in Downtown Galveston | Friday, February 2 to Fat Tuesday, February 13 | Ongoing – The third largest Mardi Gras in the United States, the Island’s big bash returns for its 113th year with two weekends of festive parades, balcony parties, family events, and live performers bringing the grooves deep into the night. Single day General Admission starts at $14, with weekend passes available for $24 and 5-day passes for $53; free for ages 12 and under. Multi-day packages and VIP Balcony Party options available. Times vary.
- Jolly Jester Jaunt 5K in Downtown Galveston | Saturday, February 3 – This isn’t your average 5K as you jaunt four loops through the heart of the Mardi Gras! district, passing under the famous arch on 24th and Mechanic Street. Your participation also nets plenty of special goodies like a 2-day general admission to the festival, free drinks, entrance to a balcony party, a view of multiple parades and admission to the Gin Blossoms concert. $110. 11am.
- Mardi Gras Brunch at B&B Butchers | Saturday, February 3 – It’s a party with dueling pianos, face painting, New Orleans–inspired brunch dishes, swag and specialty Bacardi cocktails. Extra hungry? No problem. Order from the entire brunch menu in addition to other special dishes. Menu prices vary. 11am to 3pm.
- Mardi Gras Lagniappe Jazz Brunch at Hotel Lucine | Saturday, February 3 – Galveston’s new boutique accommodations hosts a special New Orleans–inspired brunch, with a special food and cocktail menu and live jazz performed by Jahrel Pickens. $125. 11am to 3pm.

- Mardi Gras Celebration at Kemah Boardwalk | Saturday, February 3 | FREE – Kemah hosts an all-day Mardi Gras kickoff with a celebration featuring beads, live music, kids’ crafts and a boat parade that sails past at 7pm. Noon to 9pm.
- Krewe de HOU Mardi Gras Ball at JW Marriott by the Galleria | Saturday, February 3 – This first-ever bash in the Galleria area featuring a lavish night of live entertainment, hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. $200. 7pm to 11pm.
- Mardi Gras Food Truck Festival at Palapas | Sunday, February 4 – This Mardi Gras experience brings some of the best flavors and music of the season to visitors with live entertainment, music, food, and the culture of New Orleans in Midtown. $9.99 and up. Noon to midnight.
- Mardi Gras Masquerade Party in Foundation Room at House of Blues | Friday, February 9 – The Downtown venue hosts a masquerade party with live music, art, food and drink in the Foundation Room. RSVP required. 8pm to 1am.

- HTX Mardi Gras Bash at Urban South HTX | Friday, February 9 to Sunday, February 11 | No Cover – This three-day celebration of Mardi Gras at the Arts District brewery features a limited amount of pairings with Pint & Slice and Dong Phuong King Cake, plus frozen hurricanes, live music, trivia, kid-friendly activities and more. Times vary.
- Mardi Gras Festival & Parade at Town Center Park | Saturday, February 10 | FREE – Bring your lawn chairs, coolers, and dancing shoes to celebrate Mardi Gras in Kingwood with a parade, live music, food, vendors, and more. 11am to 6pm.
- LAMARdi Gras at Chapman & Kirby | Saturday, February 10 – The EaDo nightlife spot celebrates the spirit of Mardi Gras with music, dancing and Cajun cuisine. $10 and up. Noon to 6pm.
- Mardi Gras on Main in La Porte | Saturday, February 10 | FREE – Rolling into another year in downtown La Porte, Mardi Gras on Main promises an evening of fun, revelry and New Orleans–style flair—complete with roaming performers like stilt walkers, jugglers and more. Shop markets, catch a live performance by Nooney & the Zydeco Floaters, enjoy the annual Second Line parade and more festivities. 4pm to 8pm.
- Mardi Gras King Cakes at Common Bond | Through Fat Tuesday, February 13 –The local bakery and cafe has teamed up with Louisiana native the Hangry Houstonian and local nonprofit Sky High for Kids to offer DIY King Cake Kits and Traditional King Cakes this season. Kits run $25 and include Cinnamon King Cake, a piping bag, colored icing and toppings, plus a plastic King Cake baby. In store, personal-sized King Cakes are available through Fat Tuesday for $45 each. Kits must be pre-ordered by Thursday, February 8.

- Mardi Gras Celebration & Parade at the Woodlands Children’s Museum – Families are welcome to come celebrate Fat Tuesday in the Woodlands with face painting, mask crafts and noise makers to use in one of two parades happening in the morning. Don’t forget to grab a slice of King Cake on the way out. $9 for ages 1 and up. 10am to 2pm.
- Mardi Craw Party at the Rustic Downtown | FREE – The brunch spot and music hall goes all out with an all-day crawfish boil, drink specials, plus live music from Javi Jay and the Bourbon Street Experience, face painting, beads, photo ops and more. 11am.
- Fat Tuesday at Brasserie 19 | No Cover – The posh River Oaks restaurant celebrates Fat Tuesday with live music from the Boomtown Brass Second Line Band, plus special Mardi Gras cocktails including Sazeracs and hurricanes. 5pm.
- Fat Tuesday Celebration at Galveston Arts Center – On the Island, you can grab a prime spot for the big sendoff parade at the Galveston Arts Center on Market Street, which will serve up complimentary hors d’oeuvres and refreshing beverages. $55; includes membership to GAC. 5pm to 8pm.
- Mardi Gras Party at Brennan’s of Houston – The iconic New Orleans–born restaurant will welcome Mardi Gras revelers with a special three-course dinner, live entertainment and boisterous second line through the dining room. Folks can also start the party with a Lundi Gras Supper on Monday, February 12, honoring the King of Zulu and the King of Carnival with a special menu and roaming jazz musicians. 5pm to 9pm.
- Fat Tuesday Party at Daiquiri Time Out | FREE – The Galveston hotspot for frozens celebrates the end of Mardi Gras with live music from the Free Radicals, a view of the parade and more celebratory fun. 6:45pm.
