Mardi Gras headquarters is in Galveston, which celebrates its 114th celebration with balcony parties, live music, and other official events stretched across two weekends and Fat Tuesday.
But there’s plenty more Mardi Gras fun to be had around Greater Houston and Galveston. We’ve gathered just some of the upcoming celebrations for you to “laissez les bons temps rouler.”

Weekend of Friday, February 21, 2025
Opening of Mardi Gras Gallery at Galveston County Museum | Friday, February 21 | FREE – Immerse yourself in the Mardi Gras culture as the Galveston Country Museum hosts a free exhibit for all ages to enjoy. Noon to 4pm.
First Weekend: 114th Mardi Gras! Galveston in Downtown Galveston | Friday, February 21 to Sunday, February 22 | Ongoing – The nation’s third largest Mardi Gras, the island’s big bash returns for its whopping 114th year with the first of 2 weekends of festive parades, balcony parties, family events, and live performers bringing the grooves deep into the night. Single day admission starts at $17, with weekend passes available for $31 and 5-day passes for $80; free for ages 12 and under. Multi-day packages and VIP balcony party options available. Times vary.
Mardi Gras Jazz Brunch at Hotel Lucine | Saturday, February 22 – Galveston’s new beachside boutique hotel hosts a New Orleans–inspired brunch in The Fancy, with a themed food and cocktail menu and live jazz from the Jahrel Pickens Trio. 10am to 2pm.
Jolly Jester Jaunt 5K in Downtown Galveston | Saturday, February 22 – Take 4 loops through the heart of the Mardi Gras district, passing under the famous arch on 24th and Mechanic streets. You’ll also plenty of special goodies like a 2-day general admission to the festival, free drinks, entrance to a balcony party, a view of multiple parades and admission to the Gin Blossoms concert. $75. 11am.
Mardi Gras Celebration at Kemah Boardwalk | Saturday, February 22 | FREE – Kemah hosts an all-day Mardi Gras kickoff with a celebration featuring beads, live music, kids’ crafts and a boat parade that sails past at 7pm. Noon to 9pm.
10th Annual Mardi Gras on Main in La Porte | Saturday, February 22 | FREE – Kicking off with a second line parade to Five Points Plaza, Mardi Gras on Main promises an evening of fun, revelry, live music, and New Orleans–style flair—complete with roaming performers like stilt walkers, jugglers, 90+ vendors, a free kids zone, and more. 4pm to 9pm.
2nd Annual Krewe de Hou Mardi Gras Ball at The Woodlands Resort | Saturday, February 22 – The returning Woodlands bash features a lavish night of live, state of the art entertainment, hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. $200. 7pm.
Mardi Gras Un-Masquerade Ball for All at First Christian Church Katy | Saturday, February 22 – Allies and LGBTQ folks alike are invited to celebrate their true selves, with by a live DJ, desserts, photo ops, and good vibes. $10. 7pm to 10pm.
The Mardi Gras Experience at Playground Houston | Sunday, February 23 – Head over to the Downtown venue for a Mardi Gras celebration featuring live DJs, food, and live performances from The Who Dat steppers, the Hustlers Brass Band, and more. $9.99 and up 2pm.

Weekend of Friday, February 28, 2025
Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas at Doggett Ford Park in Beaumont | Friday, February 29 to Sunday, March 2 – The weekend-long festival celebrates all things Mardi Gras at the open air park and event center, with 9 different parades and marches and live music and special headliner concerts—featuring Flo Rida, C&C Music Factory, Southall, and more. Plus, there will be 3 days of festive foods and attire, a big arts and crafts vendor market, a free Kidzland Inflatable Kingdom kids zone with giant inflatables and a petting zoo, a magic show, a fire eater, royalty and second line marches, wiener dog races, and more. $10 and up. Times vary.
Second Weekend: 114th Mardi Gras! Galveston in Downtown Galveston | Friday, February 29 to Sunday, March 2 | Ongoing – The nation’s third largest Mardi Gras continues with a second and final full weekend of parades, balcony parties, family events, and live performers. $17 and up; free for ages 12 and under. The party concludes on Fat Tuesday, March 4. Times vary.
Mardi Gras Brunch at B&B Butchers | Saturday, March 1 – It’s a party with Zydeco music, face painting, New Orleans–inspired brunch dishes, swag and specialty Bacardi cocktails. Menu prices vary. 11am to 3pm.
Mardi Gras Festival & Parade at Town Center Park in Kingwood | Saturday, March 1 | FREE – Bring your lawn chairs, coolers, and dancing shoes to celebrate Mardi Gras in Kingwood with a parade, live music, food, vendors, and more. 11am to 5pm.
Alzheimer’s Association: Mardi Gras Memory Ball at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott | Saturday, March 1 – The Krewe of ALZ gathers for a Mardi Gras Ball to raise funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. $175. 7pm.
Ivy Isle Foundation: An Evening of Emerald Elegance at Galveston Island Convention Center | Saturday, March 1 – The Ivy Isle’s 39th annual gala is an elaborate affair benefiting scholarships for local island students and local community service projects. $100 and up. 8pm to midnight.
Sundi Gras at Thirteen by James Harden | Sunday, March 2 | No Cover – The Midtown upscale restaurant hosts a Mardi Gras event with brunch specials, happy hour on drinks and hookah, and a live DJ. Noon to 10pm.
Cat’s Eye View Balcony Party at Trolley Station Building | Sunday, March 2 – Get prime viewing of 3 family fun parades at the 9th Annual A Cat’s Eye View parade viewing party on the balcony of Trolley Station Building. Expect light bites, music, kids’ activities, a photobooth, and more. $40. Noon to 3pm.
HTown Mardi Gras Block Party at Wing Quarter Daiquiris & Creole Kitchen | Sunday, March 2 | FREE – The family-friend event features live music, food, a bounce house, and giveaways. 3pm to 8pm.

Fat Tuesday, March 4, 2025
Mardi Gras Celebration & Parade at The Woodlands Children’s Museum – Families celebrate Fat Tuesday in with face painting, a performance by Woodlands Symphony Orchestra’s Brass Ensemble, king cake, and jester hat crafts. $9 for ages 1 and up. 10am to 2pm; parades at 10:30am and 11:30am.
Mardi Gras Party at Wakefield Crowbar | No Cover – This Garden Oaks Fat Tuesday bash boasts live Zydeco music, fresh crawfish, and drink specials that will make you feel like you’re in the French Quarter. 11am to 9pm.
Fat Tuesday X 2 Step Tuesdays Bash at Chapman & Kirby | No Cover – The EaDo hotspot celebrates the spirit of Mardi Gras with live music from DJ Stone, C&K Zydeco Band, and The Good Fellaz—plus plenty of dancing, giveaways, and Cajun cuisine. 3pm to 11pm.
Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday Celebration at Gotti’s | No Cover – EaDo’s Cajun restaurant throws a Fat Tuesday celebration complete with food and drink specials, a live DJ, hookah, and more. Reservations recommended. 4pm to 11:30pm.
Mardi Gras at Brennan’s of Houston – The iconic New Orleans–born restaurant will welcome Mardi Gras revelers with a special 3-course dinner, live entertainment, and more. 5pm to 9pm.
114th Mardi Gras! Galveston: Mystic Krewe of Aquarius Annual Fat Tuesday Parade in Downtown Galveston – Galveston’s big Mardi Gras season wraps with the final parade of the year. 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
Mardi Gras: La Danse Finale at MarMo Plaza in Downtown Galveston | FREE – Following the Mystic Krewe of Aquarius Fat Tuesday Parade in in downtown Galveston, the party starts inside MarMo, with live music—Galvezton, DEM, and Come See My Dead Person. Outside on the plaza expect food vendors, artist installations, and a small market. 8pm to 11:30pm.
