- Galveston Restaurant Week in Galveston | Daily – Happening throughout the month of January, the annual Galveston Restaurant Week offers diners a chance to try top dishes from dozens of the Island’s best eateries on prix-fixe breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus at very pocketbook-friendly prices. GRW runs through Sunday, January 28. Two- or three-course dinners range from $20 to $60; two-course lunches from $10 to $30; and brunches from $10 to $40. Prices, times and locations vary.
- Comedian Craig Robinson at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – The comedian, best known for his role as Darryl Philbin on NBC’s The Office, as well as his starring turns in both Hot Tub Time Machine movies, Knocked Up, This Is The End, and other comedy films, takes the stage in Spring Branch. $90 for 2, and up. Times vary.
- The Riot Comedy Club presents Jon Rudnitsky at Rudyard’s Pub | Friday & Saturday – The actor, writer and comedian who appears opposite George Clooney in the Hulu series Catch-22, and opposite Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm comes to Houston to perform live. Rudnitsky’s other TV credits include NBC’s Champions, Disney’s Big Hero 6 television series, and Comedy Central’s The Comedy Jam, where he performed “Footloose” alongside Kenny Loggins. $20 and up. - ROCO: Beer & Brass at Saint Arnold Brewing Company – The annual ROCO tradition is back for 2024, so grab your friends and family and imbibe in good brews and food while being serenaded by the ROCO Brass Quintet in the Beer Hall. $50; $15 for ages 12 and under. VIP admission is $75, and includes reserved premium seating and a souvenir ROCO pint glass to take home. 6:30pm.
- Reason at House of Blues – The Cali based hip-hop and rap artist, who has collaborated with notable rap stars Vince Staples and Schoolboy Q, is headlining the House of Blues stage when he brings his Off the Porch tour to the big H. $18 and up. 7pm.
- The Moth: Story Slam at Warehouse Live Midtown – The storytelling series makes its debut at the new Warehouse Live in Midtown. Sign up to share a personal, true 5-minute story or sit back and enjoy the show. This month’s theme is “First Impressions.” $15. 7pm to 10:30pm.

- Comedian Slade Ham at Houston Improv – The Houston comic kicks off the new year with a set at the Spring Branch laugh house. $30 for 2, and up. 7:30pm.
- What’s Poppin? A Pop Culture Comedy Show at the Secret Group – Laugh off the latest in pop culture when comedian Ku Egenti hosts this night of culture-filled hilarity in EaDo. $5. 10pm to 11:30pm.

- Studio 54 Gala at Warehouse Live Midtown – The Doll Foundation hosts this charity gala as part of the 2023 Model of the Year Awards, complete with a Studio 54 theme. The event features music, food, dancing and more. Get ready to party like you’re at the legendary New York hotspot. $250 and up. 7pm to midnight.
- Drunk Shakespeare at the Emerald Theater – Expect the unexpected when a professional actor downs five shots of whiskey and attempts to perform in a Shakespearean play. These raucous evenings have been called “a live-action Drunk History” by Time Out. $69 and up. 7:30pm.
- The Lone Bellow in Concert at the Heights Theater – The Nashville-based Americana trio comes to Houston to mark their 10th anniversary. $22 and up. 8pm.
- Wheelwright, with Austin Plaine in Concert at the Continental Club – Wheelwright brings their Southwestern sound of pop and grunge songs to the Midtown club, along with an opening set from singer-songwriter Austin Plaine. $10 and up. 9pm.
- Kultur Launch Party at Bauhaus | FREE – Celebrate the launch of this new techno music label with live DJs playing all night long. It’s a chance to groove out to new music and techno faves. 10pm.

- Big In Japan: An Art Tribute to Japanese Pop Culture at Hardy & Nance Studios | FREE – This art show pays tribute to anime, Godzilla, Hello Kitty, kawaii art, sushi, Tokyo itself, and more. Come out and explore these art forms, while meeting new friends with similar tastes. 7pm.
- The Charlatans in Concert at House of Blues – The alternative rock, britpop four-piece brings their highly energetic synthy sound to the H-Town stage as they celebrate their 35th year with a tour through North America. $39.50 and up. 7pm. more. - Comedian Ron White at Smart Financial Centre – Known as a founding member of the “Blue Collar Comedy Tour,” Ron White brings his comedic observational style to Sugar Land. $50 and up. 8pm.
- Disco New Year with Disco Expressions at Continental Club – It’s still the new year, so keep the groove going with a little bit of boogie during this night of Disco hits. Saturday Night Fever moves optional. $15. 9pm.
- Emo Night at White Oak Music Hall – Dance the night away to your favorite emo hits at the upstairs White Oak stage. $17. 9pm.

- Yaga’s Chili Quest & Beer Fest at the Strand in Galveston – The 15th Annual Chili Quest & Beer Fest returns to Galveston’s Historic Downtown Strand District for a day full of, you guessed it, chili and beer. Eat your weight in chili samples from the best cookoff teams around, then sip and stroll through 70+ brews and spirits beginning at 1pm. $13 for chili tasting tickets; $35 for beer tasting tickets, including 24 2-oz. samples and 4 spirit samples. 10am to 6pm.
- Mix-MATCH: A Mixed Arts Festival at MATCH – This first-ever festival runs for 12 hours, inviting the public to come by and see more than two dozen of Houston’s small and mid-sized arts organizations delivering captivating live performances, interactive activities, and more across the spectrum of performing arts. Festival passes are $25 and includes access to all performances, a mimosa kick-off with brunch bites, four complimentary drink tickets, and entry to the closing reception with a featured performance from Christina Wells. 10am to 10pm.
- Raclette Party on the Patio at Montrose Cheeses & Wine – Montrose Cheese & Wine is kicking off the new year with its après-ski style Raclette Party on the Patio. Guests can oooh and ahhhh as a full wheel of cheese gets scraped onto their plates, which include potatoes with caramelized onions, cornichons and baguette slices. 1pm to 5pm.
- The Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular at Bayou Music Center – Prepare to be immersed in the legendary sounds of Pink Floyd on a multimedia journey through the timeless music of one of the most legendary and influential bands of the 20th century. $24 and up. 8pm.
- Galveston Island Country Music Fest at Galveston Island Convention Center – Organized by the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, this seated dinner and concert features a lineup of Texas country artists including Randall King of Fredericksburg, joined by Catie Offerman of New Braunfels and Hayden Haddock of Dallas. Tickets are $225 and up; including dinner. 6pm to 11am.
- Keith Sweat, with Dru Hill, Johnny Gill & Levelle in Concert at Smart Financial Centre – The New Jack Swing pioneer, known for hits “Don’t Stop Your Love” and “Make It Last Forever,” comes to Sugar Land to perform live. He leads an all-star R&B lineup, which also includes Dru Hill, Johnny Gill and Levelle. $82 and up. 8pm.
- Maldito Año Nuevo: Con Puro Perreo at White Oak Music Hall – The Downstairs stage at White Oak hosts a night of reggaeton hits from performers like Bad Bunny, Karol G and more. $15. 8:30pm.
- Bollywood Night at Last Concert Cafe – Party all night to your favorite Bollywood hits from Arijit Singh, Neha Kakkar, Badshah, Guru Randhawa, Sidhu Moose Wala and more. Local Bollywood dance groups will also be taking the stage throughout the night. $16. 9pm.
- Bowie All Night at Numbers Nightclub – Come out for this yearly salute to the legendary David Bowie with music, videos, and giveaways all night. You’ll hear all the hits by the iconic British superstar. Cover charge at the door. 9pm to 2am.
- Esther Anaya in Concert at Warehouse Live Midtown | FREE with RSVP – The violinist, singer and EDM DJ heads to the rooftop of the new Warehouse Live location for a free concert. 10pm to 2am.
- Darude DJ Set at Stereo Live – The “Sandstorm” hit DJ arrives at the West Houston venue for electronica and EDM. $10. 10pm to 2am.

- Hop Topic World’s Annual Chili Cook-Off at Equal Parts Brewing – Come out to the Second Ward brewery for this celebration of chili. General admission gets you unlimited chili samples, a swag bag for early bird ticketholders, and a token for voting. $18. Noon to 4pm.
- Houston BBQ Throwdown 2024 at Saint Arnold Beer Hall – The Houston Barbecue Festival and Saint Arnold Brewing Company team up once again for the 7th annual Houston BBQ Throwdown, where 14 of Houston’s best barbecue restaurants compete to dream up “the next great barbecue dish” to represent Houston’s smoke scene. The event is always a sell-out, so get tickets while you can. $75 and up. 1pm.
- Chefs for Paws at the C. Baldwin Hotel – Enjoy a seated, multi-course dinner from some of Houston’s top chefs and restaurants, including Alyssa Dole (Hope Farms), Andre Garza (The Chelsea), Eakkapan Ngammuang and Aphassorn Predawan (MaKiin), Top Chef’s Sasha Grumman and others. All proceeds benefit Rescued Pets Movement. $250. 5pm to 9pm.
