Celebrate Halloween on its actual calendar date on Monday, October 31, 2016 at these events for kids, families, and grown-ups around Greater Houston.

Although some of this year’s biggest Halloween events happened over the weekend leading up to October 31, there are still plenty of opportunities to get your spook on the big day itself.

Kids & Families 

  • 5th Annual Haunted House at the National Museum of Funeral History – Visit the Haunted House at the National Museum of Funeral History all month long to be “scared to death.” The house is rated PG-13 and is recommended for children 12 and up. The haunted house will remain open through Wednesday, November 2, 2016. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. $5; $3 for kids 11 and under. 10am to 4pm.
  • Zoo Boo at the Houston Zoo – During Zoo Boo, kids get to paint pumpkins, explore pumpkin patches, color on the Monster Mural, get a temporary tat at the Tatzoo Parlor, and dance at the Monster Mashquerade. Kids and adults are encouraged to wear costumes (adults are not permitted to wear masks or cover their faces). All ages, included with museum admission. 9am to 1pm.
  • Jack Skellington Photo Op at The Wilde Collection in The Heights | FREE to Attend  Fans of the Pumpkin King from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, will want to stop by the gothic, Victorian-inspired oddities and curiosity shop for their last chance to strike a pose in front of the life-size (and very tall) ruler of Halloweentown and his trusty ghost dog sidekick Zero. While the shop is not designed to scare, it does feature many creepy, unusual items and displays, including taxidermy. Parents of sensitive children may opt to skip this one. Noon to 7pm.
  • Moe’s Monster Mash Bash at the Children’s Museum of Houston – Join ghoulish DJ dance parties, go trick or treating, experiment with monstrous matters, or participate in spirit-lifting activities. $12 per person ages 1 and up (including adults). 3pm to 8pm.
  • Spooktacular at The Woodlands Children’s Museum – Enjoy a non-scary Halloween event filled with child-friendly games, art projects and activities. Included with museum admission. 4pm to 8pm.
  • Monster Mash Halloween Spooktacular at Memorial City Mall | FREE – Enjoy free trick or treating, a Beetlejuice DJ, games and more. 5pm to 8pm.
  • Halloween Trick or Treat at CityCentre | FREE – Families can go trick or treating around the shopping center, then dance to DJ tunes and relax under the autumn stars in the plaza. 5pm to 8pm.
  • Ghost Tours of the 1859 Ashton Villa in Galveston – Take a tour through the historic Ashton Villa and learn about the home’s history its resident Miss Bettie Brown, who may have never left. $30. 7pm and 8:15pm
  • Night of the Living Dead Movie Screening at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Catch a free screening of the classic 1968 zombie cult horror film that continues to define the walking dead to this day. Recommended for age 13 and up. 7:30pm.
