Spring festival season is here in full force, marshaled in by the return of the iconic Houston Art Car Parade, now in its 35th year, along with The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, the 17th Annual Frida Festival in the East End, Harvest Green Chef Fest, and more. Plus there are plenty of music must -dos, including Jazmine Sullivan‘s rescheduled show at 713 Music Hall, Apollo Chamber Players fundraiser concert to Ukrainian refugees, a live DJ set by Snoop Dogg, a live Selena tribute at Houston Botanic Garden, and more.

  • Jazmine Sullivan in Concert at 713 Music Hall | Monday, April 4 – The Grammy-nominated R&B star comes to the Post venue to perform songs from her latest, award-winning album, Heaux Tales. $79 and up, but you may find cheaper, better, or hard-to-get seats on the online ticket resale marketplace. 8pm.
  • Apollo Chamber Players present Music For Peace in Ukraine at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church | Tuesday, April 5 – The Houston ensemble takes to the Museum District church for a live concert that helps support victims and refugees of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, with all proceeds distributed to humanitarian relief organizations. No tickets required; suggested donation of $25. 7pm.
  • DJ Snoopadelic aka Snoop Dogg at Rise Rooftop | Wednesday, April 6 – The legendary hip hop star takes to the stacks above Midtown and spins his favorites with some live accompaniment for one night only. $75; $125 VIP. 8pm.
  • Kung Fu Film Nights: Enter the Dragon at Asia Society Texas | Friday, April 8 – Spend an evening outdoors enjoying one of the greatest Kung Fu films ever, starring the legendary Bruce Lee. $10. 8pm.
  • Spring Nutcracker Market at NRG Center | Friday, April 8 to Sunday, April 10 – The annual Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market re-opens in a new shopping window this year, with a spring spectacular that features all the familiar seasonal items you’ve come to love, plus summer apparel, vacation accessories, gourmet foods, and more across nearly 150 vendors. One-day tickets are $18 in advance; $20 at the door. Times vary.
  • 35th Annual Houston Art Car Parade in Downtown | Saturday, April 9 | FREE – One of Houston’s most beloved events— and the largest celebration of its kind in the world with over 250 cars—returns to a live event after two years. 11am.
  • 9th Annual MusicFest at the Willow Waterhole Greenway | Saturday, April 9 | FREE – Southwest Houston will again host the annual MusicFest, which features a diverse lineup of R&B, blues, Texas country, Latin salsa and more, on stage at the Willow Waterhole Greenway. The venue is also a popular spot to snap photos with Texas bluebonnets, so you’ll find a great chance for a springtime photo op. 11am to 8pm.
  • 2022 Reggae in the Park at Emancipation Park | Saturday, April 9 – Listen to the sounds of Reggae, Soca Dancehall, and Afrobeat featuring music from around the world, plus food, artists, games, and other live entertainment. $7. 3pm to 10pm.
  • 2022 Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival at Town Green Park | Saturday, April 9 & Sunday, April 10 – A certain marker that spring has arrived, the 17th Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival brings more than 200 accomplished artists out to the Waterway shores and surrounds the with live music, entertainment, and food and drink. $15 per day; $20 for a weekend pass; free for ages 12 and under. 10am to 6pm both days.
  • 17th Annual Frida Festival at TBH Center / MECA East End | Saturday, April 9 & Sunday, April 10 | FREE – Celebrate all things Frida Kahlo at an East End festival featuring lively music, performances, a Frida-inspired fashion show, vendors, food trucks, and plenty of people dressed up as one of Mexico’s most beloved and legendary artists. The weekend also kicks off with a ticketed event on Friday night. 11am to 7pm both days.
  • Crawfish & Zydeco Festival at Kemah Boardwalk | Saturday, April 9 & Sunday, April 10 | No Cover – Enjoy live Zydeco music from Curtis Poullard & the Creole Zydeco Band, Zydeco Dots, LT & the Zydeco Mob, and Ruben Morales while you feast on fresh-boiled crawfish and boudin. Noon to 10pm both days. 
  • Chef Fest 2022 at Harvest Green Village Farm | Sunday, April 10 Drop in to the Richmond-area farm and explore the produce of the Houston region through the eyes local chefs, plus enjoy local drinks, area musicians, and Harvest Green farmers. $95: $20 for ages 5 to 16; includes unlimited bites, 5 drink tickets, farm tours and live music. Noon to 4pm. 
  • Houston Hustle Festival Vol. 4 at Sharespace near Downtown | Sunday, April 10 | FREE – The annual Houston Hustle Festival returns for a fourth edition at Sharespace Downtown, showcasing all-women businesses and vendors, along with special performances, raffle prizes, a live DJ, Instagrammable photo walls, and more. Noon to 4:30pm. 
  • Astros FanFest at Minute Maid Park | Sunday, April 10 – The annual family-friendly FanFest returns to Minute Maid, giving fans an afternoon of ballpark fun, with autograph sessions, photo ops, games, and a watch party to see the Astros close out their opening series of the season in Anaheim. $1. 1pm to 3pm. 
  • Queen of Tejano Tribute at Houston Botanic Garden | Sunday, April 10 – Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and singalong to the hits of Selena at this tribute concert held at the beautiful grounds of Houston Botanic Garden in South Houston. $15. 3pm.
