Top 10 Things To Do for Kids & Families in Houston This Week

  • Labor Day at Lone Star Flight Museum | Labor Day, Monday, September 6 – Lone Star Flight Museum offers special pop-up fun on the final day of its Labor Day Weekend celebration. There will be special events, activities, free flight simulators, flight history talks for adults, and more options for all ages. Tickets are $15; $13 for ages 12 to 17 and for ages 65 and up; $10 for ages 4 to 11; free for museum members and for ages 3 and under. 10am to 5pm.
  • 5th Annual Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social in Friendswood | Labor Day, Monday, September 6 | FREE Step back in time for the 5th Annual Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social and enjoy treats like Blue Bell ice cream, cookies, and lemonade at Frank J Brown Heritage Museum. There will also be live music from Wild River Trio. 3pm to 5pm.
  • Labor Day Backyard BBQ Party at Market Square Park | Labor Day, Monday, September 6 | No Cover Downtown’s Market Square Park hosts a Labor Day party with lawn games, cold brews, a watermelon eating contest and delicious BBQ. There will also be live music by Danny Ray & the Acoustic Production. No cover, but food and drinks are on you. 4pm to 7pm.
  • Water Wonders at Houston Zoo | Thursday, September 9 Bring the family to watch the Houston Zoo’s own giant river otters wrestle on their rocky waterslides and then spot the green anaconda basking in its habitat. Included with general admission. 9:30am to 10:30am.
  • Heart to Market at Sugar Land Town Square | Friday, September 10 to Sunday, September 12 | No Cover Shop at a kid-friendly pop-up that features a curated mix of local makers, small shops, and specialty brands dedicated to mothers and their children at Sugar Land Town Square. Times vary.
  • Children’s Storytime with Mario and Princess Peach at CityPlace | Friday, September 10 | FREE It’s-a Mario and his friend Princess Peach, inviting you to join them for a story time reading at CityPlace in Spring. 6pm.
  • Texas Gatorfest at Fort Anahuac Park | Friday, September 10 to Sunday, September 12 Celebrate the American Alligator at a family-friendly festival that features live alligator displays provided by Texas Parks and Wildlife, alongside specialty vendors, live music, food trucks, and an opportunity to get an up-close look at this reptile. Tickets range from $10 to $15; $5 for ages 6 to 12. Times vary.
  • KidFish at Carl Barton, Jr. Baseball Park in Conroe | Saturday, September 11 | FREE Bring the kiddos out to participate in a hands-on fishing experience at in Conroe. This event is for ages 16 and younger. 9am to noon.
  • Pumpkin Patch Opening at Old MacDonald’s Farm in Humble | Opens Saturday, September 11 – Through Monday, November 1, the pumpkin patch at Humble’s Old MacDonald’s Farm invites visitors to enjoy train and pony rides, a petting zoo, and the holiday pumpkin patch decked out with decorations, photo ops, and plenty of small and medium-sized pumpkins to pluck. Tickets start at $15; free for ages under 18 months. 10am to 6pm daily.
  • Current Museum Exhibits & Art Installations Around Greater Houston | Daily | Many FREE – Bring the fam to explore the many striking, stunning, and diverse exhibits exploring history, science, art, culture, and creativity around the Greater Houston metro area.
