- Toddler Tuesday: It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown at Discovery Green | Tuesday, October 27 | FREE – Wear your costumes to the last Toddler Tuesday of the season. The free storytime includes It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and a costume contest. 10:30am.
- Scream on the Green at Discovery Green | Friday, October 30 | FREE – Celebrate Halloween at Scream on the Green at Discovery Green. Here you will find costume contests, music, activities, and Screen on the Green: The Book of Life at Discovery Green. 6pm.
- Zoo Boo at the Houston Zoo | Friday, October 30 to Sunday, November 1 – Wear your costumes and visit all the activity stations! Free with admission. Friday 9am to 1pm. Weekends 9am to 4pm.
- Houston Symphony’s Ghostbusters & Ghouls at Jones Hall | Saturday, October 31 – This family symphony event includes music from Ghostbusters and Michael Jackson’s Thriller. $19 to $29. 10am and 11:30am.
- Tricks, Treats & T-Rex at the Houston Museum of Natural Science Sugar Land | Saturday, October 31 – Join the costume parade, Butterfly Garden Maze, pumpkin toss and more! $12 to $15. 10am to noon.
- Halloween Car Show at the National Museum of Funeral History | Saturday, October 31 – See more than 150 cars, from classic to contemporary, at the eighth annual outdoor festival, with barbecue, costumes and Halloween decor. 10am to 3pm.
- Fall Fun Day at Smither Park | Saturday, October 31 | FREE – Postponed from last weekend because of the rain, enjoy live music, photo workshops and more. Bring your pumpkin to The Orange Show down the street and they’ll provide all the essential tools to carve it – including expert instructors for a $5 suggested donation. 11am to 3pm.
- Moe’s Monster Mash Bash at the Children’s Museum of Houston | Saturday, October 31 – Enjoy a well lit, car-free Halloween inside the Children’s Museum, with a DJ dance party, monster drive-in and more. Included with regular museum admission. 4pm to 8pm.
- Day of the Dead Festival at MECA | Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1 | FREE | POSTPONED TO Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8 – UPDATE 10/27/15: MECA has postponed this event by one week. Learn the traditions of All Souls Day and celebrate at MECA, with an art exhibition, a calavera fashion show, entertainment and more. 11am to 7pm.
- Dia de los Muertos & Day of the Dead Celebration at the National Museum of Funeral History | Sunday, November 1 – Join the festive celebration of departed loved ones and Latin culture at NMFH, with authentic altars created by local artists, interactive exhibits and more. This is also one of the last days to check out the museum’s the family friendly Haunted House and interactive Myths and Legends of the Graveyard Exhibit.
