It’s Halloween Weekend. Halloween is on a Saturday. That Saturday night happens to be fall back for Daylight Savings Time. It’s a darned good weekend for Halloween and it’s a darned good time to be in Houston. You can pretty much wear a costume anywhere this weekend and be held in high esteem (at least until the sun comes up on Sunday).

The weekend itself is packed with so much costumed Halloween and Dia de los Muertos goodness. So much that there’s too much for us to cram into a single Weekend Guide.   • Halloween Events for Kids Around Houston | Daily – Load up the kids, costume and all, and head to your favorite family-friendly Halloween celebrations. Monkey around at the Houston Zoo Boo, hang out with monsters at the Monsters’ Museum of Houston, get spooked at Scream on the Green and satisfy your sweet tooth at the Treats & Sweets Festival in League City.   • International Quilt Festival at George R. Brown Convention Center | Daily – Don’t miss the world’s largest quilt show happening over four days at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Browse handcrafted goods like quilts, textiles and jewelry and check out a class or lecture while you’re there. $12 day pass; $9 day pass for seniors and students; free for children 10 and under; $42 for weekend pass. 10am to 7pm Thursday to Saturday; 10am to 4pm Sunday.
  • The Masque of the Red Death at Prohibition Supperclub | Thursday through Saturday – Catch a special burlesque performance of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death performed by the Moonlight Dolls at a Halloween-themed dinner and show at Prohibition Supperclub & Bar.
  • Adult Halloween Parties Around Houston | Friday and Saturday – Head out for a night on the town in your best costume at these 21+ Halloween Parties around Houston. Have a cocktail during Spirits & Skeletons at HMNS, get spooked at Fright Night in the Heights or go on a Haunted Hike with BCO at Memorial Park. Prices, times and locations vary.
  • Houston Fine Art Festival at Discovery Green | Saturday and Sunday | FREE – Browse and purchase art in a variety of mediums including jewelry, photography, ceramics, sculpture and more during the Houston Fine Art Festival at Discovery Green. 10am to 5pm Saturday; 11am to 5pm Sunday.
  • Galveston Island Greek Festival | Saturday and Sunday – Get your Greek on in Galveston with delicious food, craft beer, music, sweet treats and dancing during the Galveston Island Greek Festival taking place at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. $3. 11am to 10pm Saturday; noon to 7pm Sunday.
