- The Lawsons at Ensemble Theatre | Ends Sunday, March 13 – This world premiere play with music tells the story of Bill and Audrey Lawson. Their love story is a Houston story, taking place against the backdrop of the Civil Rights Movement and the unfolding of their dream to start a church that would change the face of the city’s Third Ward. $44 and up. Showtimes vary.
- Broadway Across America presents Hamilton at Hobby Center | Ends Sunday, March 20 – Lin-Manuel Miranda’s mega-hit returns, bringing with it a fresh take on the story of the Founding Fathers. With a score that blends rap, hip-hop, soul and musical theatre standards, this story of Alexander Hamilton is one of an immigrant’s struggle to make it in a new land. A show with energy, power and a multiracial cast, it’s an experience not to be missed. $69 and up, but you may find better, cheaper, or hard-to-get seats on the online resale market. Showtimes vary.

- Sense & Sensibility at Alley Theatre | Friday, March 4 to Wednesday, March 23 – This playful new look at the Jane Austen classic follows the story of sisters Marianne and Elinor Dashwood, left socially vulnerable in the wake of their father’s death. As much a commentary on 18th century England as it is on today’s society, it’s told with humor and depth. $30 and up. Showtimes vary.
- Main Street Theater for Youth presents Pete the Cat at MATCH | Sunday, March 6 to Saturday, April 2 – What happens when groovy, guitar-playing Pete the Cat and Jimmy, the most organized second grader in the world, take a road trip together? Find out in this family-friendly musical that promises hilarity and toe-tapping tunes. $22 and up. Showtimes vary.
- Houston Ballet presents Sylvia at Wortham Theater Center | Thursday, March 10 to Sunday, March 20 – This dazzling ballet re-imagines the myth of the huntress Sylvia and her love for a mortal shepherd. Set to Leo Delibes’ famous score, it brings to the stage passion, romance and exquisite dance. $25 and up. Showtimes vary.
- 2nd Annual Latino/a/x Contemporary Dance Festival at MATCH | Friday, March 11 to Sunday, March 13 – Exploring a variety of Latin dance performance styles, this weekend is a celebration of Latino/a/x culture, giving audiences a glimpse at dazzling artistry. Featured performers include Alas Dance Company, De La Rosa Dance Company, Mark Travis Rivera, Roberta Paixao Cortez and more. $15 in advance; $20 at the door; $30 for a three-day pass. 8pm daily.

- Houston Symphony presents Andrés Conducts The Carnival of the Animals at Jones Hall | Friday, March 18 to Sunday, March 20 – Saint-Saens’ enduring score comes alive in this concert, conducted by Houston Symphony music director Andrés Orozco-Estrada. An extraordinarily fun work, it features instantly recognizable music guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages. $26 and up. Showtimes vary.
- TUTS presents Come From Away at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts | Tuesday, March 22 to Sunday, April 3 – On 9/11, airspace around the U.S. was closed, forcing the relocation of multiple planes. This is the extraordinary story of some of those planes, rerouted to a tiny Canadian town, and how, in the days that followed, uneasiness turned to trust and lasting friendships. $40 and up. - 4th Wall Theatre Company presents Gloria at Studio 101 at Spring Street Studios | Thursday, March 24 to Saturday, April 16 – A workplace comedy that follows the adventures of an ambitious group of editorial assistants at a notorious New York magazine, Gloria explores what happens when an ordinary workday suddenly becomes anything but. $32 and up. - Ars Lyrica presents An Uncommon Chevalier at the Hobby Center | Sunday, March 27 | Virtual Option – Guaranteed to transport audiences to a lively Parisian concert hall in the 1780s, this performance is part of the larger French Cultures Festival and features works by Mozart and Haydn. $25; $10 for a virtual ticket. 2:30pm.
