Spring has sprung in Houston and that means the return of fan-favorite festivals and the city’s signature events along with the good weather.
As the Rodeo winds down, Houston will get a chance to celebrate several outdoor festivals, major concerts, and new seasons for Miller Outdoor, the Astros and the Dash.
Here are Houston’s top festivals and notable events coming to the city in March 2024:

- 2024 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo at NRG Park | Daily through Sunday, March 17 – The city’s signature event brings together more than two million people from all backgrounds and all regions of the Greater Houston area—and beyond—for three full weeks of carnival fun, adventurous eats, livestock shows, rodeo competitions and star-studded live concerts. Check out the concert lineup and secure your seats, or go for the thrill of the festival with a grounds-only ticket, available for $20; $10 for ages 3 to 12 (carnival rides and games are an additional cost). Times vary.
- 15th Annual Houston Holi: Festival of Colors at BH Ranch | Saturday, March 2 – From Masala Radio comes the city’s—if not one of the country’s—biggest Holi festivals, featuring a live concert by Arjun, plus Bollywood dancing, color play, DJs, street foods, carnival rides, a petting zoo, giveaways and more. $15 in advance, $20 day of the event; discounts available for group purchases. Free for ages 4 and under. Noon to 5pm.
- Jazzy Sundays at Emancipation Park | Sundays from March 3 to March 24 | FREE – The annual spring series returns, bringing free jazz concerts to three parks across the city, starting with Emancipation Park in Third Ward for the month of March. Across four Sundays, you can catch performers like TK Soul, Kirk Whalum and Mathias Lattin before the series moves to Buffalo Bayou Park in April. 5pm to 7pm.
- Broadway Across America presents Beetlejuice at Hobby Center | Tuesday, March 5 to Sunday, March 10 – The Broadway musical comes to Houston for six days only, telling the tale of teenager Lydia Deetz, who strikes a bond with a recently departed couple struggling to haunt the world of the living. But when they call upon bio-exorcist Beetlejuice for help, together they must face even more obstacles to a peaceful afterlife. $40 and up. Showtimes vary.
- International Women’s Day at Rothko Chapel | Thursday, March 7 – The Montrose landmark for quietude celebrates International Women’s Day with a a panel discussion about women’s leadership in labor organizing movements, featuring renowned civil rights activist Dolores Huerta. Learn about labor issues, how to get involved, and how to join in community building to achieve organizing goals. Tickets are pay-what-you-can, registration required. 6pm.

- 87th Azalea Trail in River Oaks | Friday, March 8 to Sunday, March 10 – Hosted by the River Oaks Garden Club, this annual multi-stop tour invites the public to explore seven gardens across the River Oaks area—including four private home gardens. $30; complimentary round-trip shuttle will offer travel to all locations. 11am to 5pm.
- Biggest Picnic in Texas: 100th Birthday Edition at Memorial Park | Saturday, March 9 | FREE – Celebrate the centennial of Memorial Park with the return of the Biggest Picnic in Texas. Enjoy a family-friendly event that takes place across the park’s picnic areas and land bridge, highlighted by food trucks and picnic festivities, plus live entertainment, treats and more. 10am to 3pm.
- Moon 2 Mars Festival at Space Center Houston | Wednesday, March 13 to Saturday, March 16 – This week-long festival at Johnson Space Center celebrates the innovations that power space exploration with looks at cutting-edge space tech, immersive experiences and astronaut appearances, plus four days of live concerts to round out the festivities. Tickets are $34.95 and up; $29.95 for ages 4 to 11; free for ages 3 and under. Times vary.
- Saint Patrick’s Day at Saint Arnold Brewing Company | Sunday, March 17 | FREE – Houston’s oldest brewery throws another St. Patrick’s Day bash at the beer garden with beer, delicious eats, live entertainment and more, plus the return of the annual Donegal Beard Growing competition. 11am to 11pm.
- 8th Houston Latino Film Festival at MATCH | Wednesday, March 20 to Sunday, March 24 – The annual film festival promoting Latino culture among Latinos and other communities has culled nearly 500 worldwide submissions down to an exciting festival lineup that features more than 60 short and feature-length films. Across MATCH’s several stages, the film festival will screen throughout five days, with several screenings accompanied by the filmmakers and directors in attendance. Single screenings are $14; all access passes are $60, $40 for students. Times vary.

- March Madness Watch Parties | Thursday, March 21 to Sunday, March 31 – As the top-ranked Houston Cougars embark on yet another March Madness run, you’ll be able to catch all the action at watch parties held across the city. More information will be available closer to the tournament, but you can expect popular spots like Avenida Houston to return with live watch parties throughout the big games of the bracket. Times TBD.
- Tomball German Heritage Festival in Old Town Tomball | Friday, March 22 to Sunday, March 24 | FREE – Tomball’s annual German Fest fills the streets with more than 200 vendors rocking antiques, arts and crafts, and more; plus cultural music, street performances, a Heritage Center, and tasty German fare, festival eats, and beer and wine. The weekend-long event is family-friendly and free to attend, with free parking and a shuttle service on Saturday and Sunday. Times vary.
- 52nd Annual Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta | Saturday, March 23 – The largest canoe and kayak race in Texas returns to the waters of Buffalo Bayou, sending paddlers down a 15-mile stretch from West Houston to Allen’s Landing in Downtown. Stick around as participants finish up for a post-race party with Saint Arnold brews, lunch and other celebrations. Registration is open to ages 12 and up, and does not include a canoe or kayak. $55 per person; $60 on race day. 9am to 2pm.
- Opening Day: Houston Dash vs. Racing Louisville FC at Shell Energy Stadium | Saturday, March 23 – The women of the Houston Dash return to celebrate their 10th season in the city, facing off against RLFC on the EaDo pitch in their home opener. $12 and up. 7:30pm.
- Bayou City Art Festival in Downtown Houston | Saturday, March 23 & Sunday, March 24 – Houston’s iconic art festival returns this spring with artwork from more than 250 artists across 19 different categories, all on display for festival goers to browse and take home. The weekend festival will also showcase two entertainment stages, a food truck park, culinary stages, beverage stations and more. $18; free for ages 12 and under. 10am to 6pm.

- Culinary Innovators Creating Community at Asia Society Texas | Tuesday, March 26 – As part of the Women’s Leadership Series at Asia Society, three of Houston’s culinary trendsetters dish about their careers, inspirations and service to the city’s communities. Hear from Top Chef finalist Dawn Burrell, James Beard Award winner Benchawan Jabthong Painter of Street to Kitchen, and James Beard semifinalist Kiran Verma of Kiran’s. $50. 6pm.
- Madonna in Concert at Toyota Center | Thursday, March 28 & Friday, March 29 – These back-to-back concerts rescheduled from last September brings the Queen of Pop to Houston, celebrating her four decades of iconic songs in the pop star’s first retrospective tour. Expect to hear hits like “Justify My Love,” “Vogue,” “Like a Virgin” and more in the two hour–plus show. $98 and up, but you may find hard-to-get, better, or cheaper seats on the online ticket resale market. 8:30pm.
- Opening Weekend: Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees at Minute Maid Park | Thursday, March 28 to Sunday, March 31 – A new coach, a few new faces and the return of several beloved players makes for the start of a new season when the Astros take on familiar foes in the Yankees across four days of Opening Weekend baseball. $29 and up. Times vary.
- Opening Night: Ronstadt Revue at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday, March 29 | FREE – A new slate of concerts and special performances returns to the century-old Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park. The new season opens with a night of Linda Ronstadt hits as performed by Gesenia, including “You’re No Good,” “Perfidia,” “Desperado” and more. 8pm.
- Old Weird Houston at Orange Show World HQ | Saturday, March 30 | FREE – This annual local history fair shares the weird, hidden histories of the unusual people, institutions and events that have molded the city of Houston. In addition to archival documents and panel discussions, you can also take in live music from Mydolls, and enjoy food and drink. 10am to 6pm.
