Marvel at the impressive sculpture opening of Thorsten Brinkmann on view at Rice Gallery from Thursday, February 4 to Sunday, May 15, 2016.
Self-proclaimed serial-collector Thorsten Brinkmann has made a career out of being a pack rat. Collecting anything that catches his eye, the artist sifts through the broken and discarded objects that we accumulate daily, but often avoid.
Rice University Art Gallery has commissioned the German artist to create a new site-specific installation, The Great Cape Rinderhorn, for his first museum solo-exhibition in the United States.
Working primarily with objects discovered in Houston, Brinkmann will turn empty space into a home where the discarded is re-imagined when his installation, The Great Cape Rinderhorn opens at Rice.
