There are markets, shows, parties, holiday lighting events and more celebrating the end of fall and the start of the Christmas season. There’s still some non-holiday things to do in Houston this weekend as well, including the Houston Via Colori Street Painting Festival, the special 365 Houston Edition of Late Night at Radio Milano at the new restaurant and lounge inside Hotel Sorella in CityCentre, Air China presents Metropolis! at Miller Outdoor Theatre and many more great things to do in Houston this weekend before Thanksgiving.

- Vom Fass Grand Opening Celebration | Daily | FREE – Celebrate the grand opening of Vom Fass as their doors open in Rice Village. Tastings and food demos will take place throughout the weekend and 5% of sales from the store will benefit Recipe for Success. Times vary.
- The Liar at the University of Houston | Daily – Follow the story of a pathological liar as he falls in love and gets into trouble along the way at The Liar. $20; limited discounted $10 tickets available. 8pm Thursday to Saturday; 2pm Sunday.
- Fashion Houston at Wortham Theater Center | Thursday and Friday – Dress to impress at the fifth annual Fashion Houston featuring designers from around the world. Tickets start at $29. 7:30pm both nights.
- Late: A Cowboy Song at 14 Pews | Thursday through Saturday – Follow the story of a woman who is searching for true love and learns that sometimes you have to look out of the box in Late: A Cowboy Song. $10; limited discounted $5 tickets available. 8pm both nights.
- Air China presents Metropolis at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday and Saturday | FREE – Watch a cast of 30 performers from Shenzhen, China perform a musical in Mandarin and English. 7:30pm both nights.
- Indivisible at the Hobby Center | Friday and Saturday – See new choreography from contemporary dance company MET Dance as they perform Indivisible at the Hobby Center. $26.75 to $52.75; limited discounted $13.75 to $26.37 tickets available. 8pm Friday; 7:30pm Saturday.
- Houston Via Colori Street Painting Festival |

- Shark! Interactive Exhibit at HMNS – Learn the true story behind the supposed menace of the sea at an interactive exhibit at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. You can even touch a white-spotted bamboo shark and an epaulette carpet shark in specially designed low aquariums. $25; discounted $12.50 tickets available. 9am to 5pm.
