- Houston World Series of Dog Shows at NRG Center| Daily – Talented canines will showcase their skills for all to see during this dog show which features conformation judging, seminars, exhibitions, and shopping. Tickets are $15, not including ticket fees. 8am to 7pm daily.
- The Greatest Show on Earth at NRG Stadium | Daily – Bring the whole family to NRG to see The Greatest Show on Earth this month. The Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey are rolling through town with their Circus Xtreme show. Tickets start at $16, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. - Wicked at The Hobby Center | Daily – Experience the story of Glinda and the wicked witch of the West when the musical Wicked comes to the stage of The Hobby Center this summer. - Tamarie for President at The MATCH | Thursday to Saturday – Tamarie Cooper is running for president and you won’t want to miss her campaign in musical form. Tickets are pay-what-you-can. Thursday 7pm; Friday and Saturday 8pm.
- Bands on the Sand in Galveston | Friday and Saturday – Head to Galveston’s Palm Beach to enjoy fireworks and live music from The Slags and Intercoastal Pirates during this summer concert series. Tickets are $15, not including ticket fees. 6pm.
- Wild Apples in Town at Talento Bilingüe de Houston | Friday and Saturday – Take in an adult comedy show with a Latin flavor, staged just east of Downtown. The 90-minute performance combines burlesque, comedy, and dance. $29.99. Shows at 7pm and 9pm both nights.
- Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Angels at Minute Maid Park | Friday to Sunday – Get loud for the Astros when they take the field to play the Angels in a home game at Minute Maid Park. Tickets start at $15, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. Friday 7:10pm; Saturday 6:10pm; Sunday 1:10pm.
- Bridal Extravaganza Show at the George R. Brown Convention Center | Saturday and Sunday – Head Downtown for two days of wedded bliss. - Shadow Puppets Kids Craft Workshop at Heights Neighborhood Library | FREE – Encourage your child’s artistic side during this free workshop where they’ll make shadow puppets with cardstock and popsicle sticks. They’ll get to show off their creations during a puppet pageant show at the end. 10:30am to 12:30pm.
- Wines of Summer Tasting at Hunky-Dory Tavern – Enjoy a summer wine tasting on the patio at Hunky-Dory with small bite pairings from Chef Richard Knight and music from Fire NR Bones. Tickets are $35, not including ticket fees. 5:30pm.
- Rose Matchmaking presents “Love In An Elevator” Speed Dating at Omni Hotel Westside – In a twist on traditional speed dating, Houston singles are matched with a potential romantic partner and take a ride up and down in the hotel’s glass elevator before continuing the speed date in the lobby. $20 to participate; free for looky-loos. 6pm to 8pm.
- Blanket Bingo at Market Square Park – Lounge out on lawn chairs or blankets while enjoying a historic night out filled with music, fun, and of course, bingo. Admission includes a packet of bingo cards, which are good for about ten games. Tickets are $10, not including ticket fees. 6pm to 9pm.
- Define Body & Mind hosts Rev & Bev – Join Define instructor Jen Werth for a 45-minute indoor cycling rev ride, then ease on down the road with your fellow rev riders for happy hour and drink specials including a signature Define Deep Eddy cocktail at Doc’s Bar & Grill on Westheimer. Define will provide your first drink after the class. Tickets are $20. 6:15pm to 7:00pm.
- Bring It! Live at Revention Music Center – The stars of Lifetime’s Bring It! are bringing their notorious moves to Revention Music Center for never-before-seen routines and a Q&A with the audience. - Pokémon Go Social at King’s Biergarten – King’s Biergarten & Restaurant hosts a Pokémon Go Social to catch ’em all and to drink the first round of free beer. Free to attend. 7:30pm to 10pm.
- Dreamworks Animation in Concert at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – The Houston Symphony brings the music of DreamWorks Animation’s greatest films to life during this concert. Expect to hear songs from Shrek, Madagascar, and Kung Fu Panda. Select seats are free. 8pm.
- Rhye in Concert at Warehouse Live – Los Angeles-based R&B duo Rhye are heading to Warehouse Live for a show that you won’t want to miss. Vampire Weekend bass player, Baio will open as a solo act. Tickets start at $23, not including ticket fees. 9pm.
- Secret Group Satellite Annex at Avant Garden | FREE to Attend – Nom on tacos from a food truck and enjoy drink specials during this part comedy, part live music show at Avant Garden. 9pm
- Night Yoga at White Oak Music Hall | FREE – Take a deep breath and join Black Swan Yoga on the lawn at White Oak Music Hall for a free yoga class after the sun goes down. 9:30pm.

- Under the Sea at the Houston Zoo – Make a splash with your kiddos when the Houston Zoo keeps the Kathrine McGovern Water Play Park open late. You’ll learn all about marine animals and their habitats. Admission to Under the Sea is included with zoo admission. 5pm to 8pm.
- The Big Show 2016 Opening at Lawndale Art Center | FREE – Kick off the month-long exhibition The Big Show 2016 during this opening reception at Lawndale Art Center. The annual juried exhibition will feature work from artists in the greater Houston area and will be on view through August 27. 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
- Bats, Bikes & Brews on Buffalo Bayou | FREE – Bayou City Outdoors hosts this evening 6 to 8-mile bike ride along Buffalo Bayou with a stop to watch the Mexican Free tail bats emerge from Waugh Street bridge and then continues into Downtown for a post-ride drink. 7:15pm.
- Julion Alvarez in Concert at Toyota Center – Latin Grammy nominee Julion Alvarez is bringing his banda sounds to the Toyota Center for a Friday night concert. Tickets start at $65. 8pm.
- Pokémon The Movie at Saint Arnold Brewing Company – Saint Arnold Pub Night will have Alamo Draft House Rolling Roadshow showing Pokémon The First Movie in their front parking lot. Pub Night will operate as usual. Free to attend. 8:30pm to 10pm.
- Vaden Todd Lewis in Concert at Warehouse Live – Former lead singer of the Burden Brothers and Toadies, Dallas-based Vaden Todd Lewis is coming to Houston for a solo performance. Tickets start at $18, not including ticket fees. 9pm.
- Bar Olympics at Taps House of Beer – Taps House of Beer hosts a Bar Olympics where teams will compete in beer pong, flip cup, punch machine, cornhole, darts, battleship, basketball and much more. The victor will be crowned with cash and bar tabs. Free to attend. 9pm to 2am.
- (713) at Queensbury Theatre – Laugh out loud when The CSz Houston players crack jokes at H-Town’s expense when prompted by audience suggestions during this improv show. Tickets are $14, limited comped and $7 tickets available. 10:30pm.
