  • Free Train Rides at Zube Park in Hockley | FREE – Hop aboard for a ride from the Houston Area Live Steamers when they fire up their large-scale model railroad in Hockley’s public park. 9am to 2pm.
  • Yoga at The Arrive | FREE – Find your center while enjoying DJ tunes, treats and prizes, when Revolution Studio presents a free outdoor yoga class led by Houston’s only cycle, yoga, and strength fitness studio outside at The Arrive Plaza in Upper Kirby, near River Oaks. Yoga starts at 10:30am, but participants are encouraged to RSVP and arrive early to grab a spot. 10am to noon.
  • 2021 Houston AfriFest: 8th Annual Festival of African Arts Culture & Entertainment at Houston Baptist UniversityWitness a showcase of cultural and historical exhibitions from countries across the African content featuring live performances from Afro-Brazillian band Batalá, World Beat artist Emman LeGrand, and Joy of Djembe Drumming; activities like African storytelling, face painting, sports and more; when the 2021 Houston AfriFest: 8th Annual Festival of African Arts Culture and Entertainment returns to Houston Baptist University. $5 in advance; $10 at the gate; free for students with ID, ages 12 and under, and for ages 60 and up. Noon to 6pm.
  • Oktoberfest at Galveston Island Brewing Co. | No Cover – Toast to the island life at the currently-expanding Galveston Island Brewing, just a stone’s throw from the beach. They’ll have their newest Oktoberfest release, fresh pretzels, and other family-friendly fun on the spacious patio. Noon to 8pm.
  • Third Saturday at Silver Street Studios | No Cover – Every third Saturday of the month near Washington Avenue, Silver Street Studios opens up more than 60 artist studios to peruse and shop, including works in art, jewelry, photography, sculptures and glass. Noon to 5pm.
  • 2021 Houston Afrifest at Houston Baptist University – The Nigerian-American Multicultural Council is hosting its 8th annual Houston Afrifest to celebrate all things Africa through performances, art, crafts and fashion. This festival serves as a melting pot to celebrate the entire continent and the variety of cultures it encompasses. $5 in advance, $10 the day of. Noon to 6pm.
  • Oktoberfest & Cornhole Tournament at Southern Star Brewing in Conroe | No Cover – In Conroe, the Bombshell Blonde brewery kicks off a family-friendly Oktoberfest celebration, with special brews, food from the Saur Kraut, music by the Homebrewed Brass Ensemble, games and more. Plus, you can chip in to register a team for the 4-game round robin cornhole tournament. Noon to 10pm.
  • Yacht Rock Wine Fest at Brenner’s on the Bayou – Brenner’s on the Bayou is hosting their annual fall wine festival featuring award-winning wines from six elite wineries. Food will also be provided by some of Houston’s most upscale eateries. $149. 1pm to 4pm.
  • BLCK Market XPO: Fashion & Boutique at Buffalo Soldiers National Museum – The monthly market series (and new retail spot in Pearland) holds another edition of their quarterly XPO market, which features industry-focused vendors. This month, shop your latest looks from fashion and boutique booths. Limited free admissions are available in advance; $5 after that; free for ages 12 and under. 1pm to 5pm.
  • Tacolandia 2021 at the Water Works at Buffalo Bayou – Unlimited taco samples are coming your way at Houston Press’ annual Tacolandia event (so long as you purchase a ticket, of course). This year’s vendor lineup includes Hughie’s, Los Tios, Pacific Coast Tacos, Tatemó and more, all ready to dish out the good stuff to the backdrop of the Houston skyline. $35 for general admission and $75 for VIP. 4pm to 7pm; VIP entry at 3pm.
  • Shrek-Tacular Halloween Movie Night: Shrek at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion | FREE – Swing by the Woodlands music venue to take in Shrek on the large screen at this family-friendly event that includes pumpkin decorating, photo ops with costumed characters, games, and a Goblin parade that features the first 100 boys and girls to show up in costume. Seating is free on the lawn and mezzanine; $10 for orchestra seating (includes unlimited popcorn). Doors at 5:30pm; film starts at 7pm.
  • ALCS Game 2: Houston Astros vs. Boston Red Sox at Minute Maid Park – Airing on Fox Sports 1.   • An Evening in the Park at White Oak Park in the Heights  Enjoy a picnic basket full of tasty treats amid the backdrop of the Downtown skyline and live jazz tunes from Raquel Cepeda. Baskets serve 2 to 3 people and come with your choice of charcuterie or two sandwiches, plus sweet treats, wine and more. $85, additional sides are available. 6pm to 7:30pm.
  • Flea by Night at Discovery Green | No Cover – The evening market returns to Discovery Green, bringing with it a variety of vendors for visitors to shop art, jewelry, furniture, collectibles, and much more. Live music and food trucks will also be on-site. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Witches Night Out at Kemah Boardwalk | No Cover – Get down at the Kemah Boardwalk when it hosts a night of live music on the Plaza Stage, plus a DIY skull-culent herb sachet, a vendor market, raffle prizes, and retail specials. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Houston Dynamo FC vs Seattle Sounders FC at BBVA Stadium Cheer the Houston Dynamo on to victory when they battle it out against Seattle Sounders FC at a match in the heart of EaDo. $20 to over $100, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7:30pm.
  • Dia de la Hispanidad featuring Jorge Luis Chacín at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE | Virtual Option – Marvel at the Latin Grammy-nominated music of Jorge Luis Chacín when the Institute of Hispanic Culture presents a Dia de la Hispanidad celebration featuring the musician and producer’s folk rhythms and Zulian bagpipe. This performance will also be livestreamed. 7:30pm.
  • Viva Latin America at Wortham Center – Closing out Hispanic Heritage Month, the Houston Latin American Philharmonic returns to their annual tradition, performing a concert program of cultural highlights that include a tribute to “Los Blanco,” “El Milagro de tus Ojos,” “Bailame” and more. $29 to $86. 8pm.
  • Soul Movie Screening at Discovery Green Witness the power of music with the kiddos during a family-friendly screening of Disney Pixar’s 2020 film, Soul, on the lawn of Discovery Green park in Downtown. 8pm to 10pm.
  • La Adictiva with Impacto in Concert at Arena Theatre Celebrating their thirtieth anniversary, La Adictiva arrives for an unforgettable performance at the historic Arena Theatre, joined by special guests, Impacto. $75 to over $150, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 8pm.

  • Hallowgreen Plant Market at Tenfold Coffee Company | No Cover – From new plant parent to expert importers, there’s something for everyone at this pop-up plant market at the Heights coffeeshop. Peruse plants and pots from local vendors and enjoy a freshly brewed drink. 9am to 2pm.
  • Memorial City Fall Fest & Market on Gessner Road | FREE – Hop in the pumpkin patch and enjoy a morning filled with food trucks, artisan shopping, elevated outdoor shopping at a large farmers market, hay rides, kids treats, live music, beer, wine and more benefiting Epilepsy Foundation Texas, at the Memorial City Fall Fest & Market at the corner of Gessner Road and Mathewson Lane in Memorial City. 10am to 3pm.
  • Fall Artisan Market at Megaton Brewery | No Cover – The Kingwood brewery is busting out their big fall market with 80 local vendors, plus live music, globally-inspired foods, tasty craft beer, and even axe throwing. This is also a pet-friendly market. 10am to 4pm.
  • Parent & Child: A Mary Poppins Tea Party at Central Market Cooking School Relax with your family as you create an afternoon tea menu inspired by Mary Poppins. Create two types of tea sandwiches, whip up a batch of scones, and make cake pops at Central Market Cooking School in Highland Village. Costumes are welcome. $55. 3pm to 5pm.
  • Scotch & Wine Tasting at Buy the Glass Wine Bar – Lovers of scotch and wine can enjoy the best of both worlds at this boozy but educational event in Northwest Houston.   • Jazzy Sundays: Sam Dinkins Quintet and Vanguard Collective at Discovery Green | FREE – Spend your Sunday at Discovery Green while enjoying an outdoor jazz concert with performances by Sam Dinkins Quintet and the Vanguard Collective. 3pm to 6pm.
  • Lewis Jewelers Classic at Houston Polo Club Fill the stands to enjoy a world-class polo match as two teams compete on the pitch during the Lewis Jewelers Classic, complete with a best-dressed couples contest, prize drawings, a player parade, expert announcing, live music, and a champagne divot stomp at halftime. $32.50; $15 for ages 12 and under.   • Nicky Jam Concert Watch Party featuring Gonzo247 at McDonald’s in Gulfgate | FREE McDonald’s family-friendly Ritmo y Color throws a live celebrations, complete with McDonaldland characters, the giant show car, giveaways, and a live outdoor screening of the Nicky Jam livestream. All of it happens in front of the Gulfgate McDonald’s painted by Houston muralist Gonzo247. 4:30pm to 8pm.
  • Houston Dash vs. Portland Thorns FC at BBVA Stadium  In their final home game of the regular season, the Dash will host one of the strongest teams in the league, Portland Thorns FC, that includes USWNT champions Lindsey Horan, Meghan Klingenberg, and Becky Sauerbrunn. $12 to more than $50, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 6pm.
  • Sound & Color: The World of Míro at MATCH Joined by percussionist Brady Spitz, Kinetic premieres The World of Miró for marimba and string quartet by South African composer Peter Klatzow which centers on the exploratory and radical artistic movements brewing in Paris around the turn of the century at MATCH in Midtown. $5 to $25. 6pm.
  • MFAH presents Bayou Bend Virtual Family Day: Paper on Zoom | FREE | Virtual – Explore the world of paper with at-home projects and demonstrations at this virtual event with Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. This event will be held online via Zoom. 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
  • Maverick City Music in Concert at Bayou Music Center – Widely popular worship group, Maverick City Music, heads to Downtown Houston for a live performance. The seven-piece band is touring the country for the first time in the group’s history with Christian rapper, Lecrae. $25 to $35. 7pm.
  • James Taylor in Concert at Toyota Center Head Downtown for an unforgettable performance when Toyota Center welcomes the legendary Grammy Award winner and singer-songwriter, James Taylor, for a live concert. Jackson Browne opens the show. $59 to $350. 7:30pm.
  • Beetlejuice Movie Screening at Axelrad Get a kick out of the equal parts zany and spooky ’80s Tim Burton movie, Beetlejuice, while sipping on tasty local suds when Axelrad beer garden in Midtown. 7:30pm.
  • Kyle Kinane at the Secret Group – Last summer, the epic storyteller released his fifth album, Trampoline in a Ditch, and will finally return to the road with two shows while on his So…Where Were We Tour. The 8pm show is sold out through the venue, but tickets remain for the 10pm show at $25, though you may find better or cheaper seats on the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 8pm and 10pm.
  • Ritmo y Color McDonald’s Virtual Concert: Nicky Jam | FREE | Virtual – Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month when McDonald’s teams up with Latino artists including beloved graffiti artist Gonzo247 and musician Nicky Jam, when they collaborate for Ritmo y Color during a free virtual concert at a Hispanic-owned McDonald’s restaurant decorated by Gonzo247. Free with RSVP. 7pm.
  • The Lone Bellow in Concert at the Heights Theater Tap your toes to the catchy tunes of rock trio, the Lone Bellow, when the Heights Theater welcomes them for a live performance. Tow’rs opens the show. $22 to $89. 8pm.
