This weekend, kick off the start of football season watching the Texans battle it out against Jacksonville, shop ’til you drop at one of the many outdoor pop-up markets taking place around the city, sip on a tasty local brew while competing to tell your best (and worst) dad jokes in front of an audience, cheer the Dash on to victory as they take on Chicago in the heart of EaDo, and much more.

Things to Do All Weekend

  • Third Ward Special at Community Artists’ Collective | Thursday to Saturday | FREE – Take a tour of Houston’s iconic Third Ward neighborhood through the lens of 6 local artists and photographers with deep roots in the area including Marc Furi, Flash Gordon Parks, Rabéa Ballin, Risky Cereal, Brian Ellison, and Derrell Boson. It will remain on display through Saturday, September 25, 2021. Noon to 5pm daily.
  • Proud Tina: The Ultimate Tribute to Tina Turner at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday & Saturday | FREE – Take in an electrifying concert performance featuring all the hits of the legendary Tina Turner, including “Simply the Best,” “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” “Proud Mary,” “River Deep Mountain High,” and so much more when Proud Tina presents back-to-back nights of showstoppers and energetic thrills. 8pm both nights.
  • Jay Pharoah at Houston Improv | Friday & Saturday – Actor and comedian Jay Pharaoh, known for six seasons of his stunning impressions on Saturday Night Live, heads to the Houston Improv for back-to-back nights of back-to-back sets. $60 for two to $240 for six. Times vary.
  • September 11th Tributes & Commemorations Around Houston | Friday to Sunday – Commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11 while honoring the memory of brave men and women, first responders, and servicemembers at these 9/11 ceremonies, commemorations and events taking place all weekend. Times, locations and prices vary.
  • Texas Gatorfest at Fort Anahuac Park | Friday to Sunday  Celebrate the American Alligator at a family-friendly festival that features live alligator displays provided by Texas Parks and Wildlife, alongside specialty vendors, live music, food trucks, and an opportunity to get an up-close look at this reptile. $10 to $15; $5 for ages 6 to 12. Times vary.
  • Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Angels at Minute Maid Park | Friday to Sunday – Spend your weekend in the stands while cheering on the ‘Stros in a three-game series in the heart of Downtown at Minute Maid Park. $15 to more than $175, but you may find better or cheaper seats on the TicketNetwork marketplaceTimes vary.
  • Pumpkin Patch Opening at Old MacDonald’s Farm in Humble | Starts Saturday – Through Monday, November 1, the pumpkin patch at Humble’s Old MacDonald’s Farm invites visitors to enjoy train and pony rides, a petting zoo, and the holiday pumpkin patch decked out with decorations, photo ops, and plenty of small and medium-sized pumpkins to pluck. $15; free for ages under 18 months. 10am to 6pm daily.
  • Free Admission for First Responders & Their Families at Lone Star Flight Museum | Saturday & Sunday | FREE for First Responders & Their Families – Commemorate the 20th anniversary weekend of September 11, 2001 the new exhibit Never Forget: Commemorating the 20th Anniversary of 9/11, honoring the 2,977 people killed in the terrorist attacks. The exhibit will be available for viewing with regular museum admission through Sunday, January 2, 2022. Free for first responders and their families; regular museum tickets prices vary. Times vary.
  • Current Temporary Museum Exhibits & Art Installations on View Around Greater Houston | Daily | Many FREE – Explore the many other moving striking, stunning, and diverse exhibits exploring history, science, art, culture, and creativity around the Greater Houston metro area.
  • Outdoor Markets & Pop-Up Shopping Events Around Houston | Daily | Many FREE – Browse, explore, and shop at one or all of Houston’s outdoor markets, many with live entertainment, food trucks, and other distractions.
