- 713 Walks: Cultural Walk in Arts District Houston | FREE – Take a stroll through Arts District on a guided tour of the area’s historic architecture, public art, artist studios and beyond. Free to attend, but registration is required as space is limited. 9am to 11am.
- Market Square Park Farmers Market in Historic Market Square | No Cover – New to the Houston fall lineup is a free, family-friendly farmers market in the heart of Historic Market Square in Downtown. Each week, local growers and makers will be offering fresh and affordable fruits and vegetables, meat proteins, and prepared foods, among other household goods while live music fills the air. 9am to 1pm.
- Pumpkin Round Up at George Ranch Historical Park – Trot through a pumpkin wonderland at the start of the gourd-ous season. Gather your friends and kiddos for a fall-rific photo op featuring a towering pumpkin display created with more than 20 types of pumpkins, gourds, plants and fall flowers. This event runs through Saturday, November 25. $10 and up; free for ages 3 and under. 9am to 5pm.
- Gastrochurch presents Pumpkin Patch Festival at Westminster UMC | FREE – The annual pumpkin patch fest returns to the Tanglewood church, rolling out hordes of pumpkins along with dozens of local vendors and fall photo opportunities. 10am to 3pm.
- Sweet like Pan Dulce Pop-Up at the Esplanade on Navigation | FREE – The Second Ward esplanade celebrates the tastiest pan dulce with sweets vendors, local artisans and craftspeople, live music, food, drinks and more. 10am to 3pm.
- Arbooretum at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center – Pick out your costumes and head to the biggest event of the season at the Arboretum. There are plenty of fall activities for all ages including live animals, pumpkin decorating, and Houston’s very own Trick-or-Treat Nature Trail. $20 in advance, $25 at the door; free for ages 2 and under. 10am to 4pm.
- Texas Family Literacy Festival at Discovery Green | FREE – Story Square hosts this first-ever fest in Downtown, inviting new and experienced readers to visit with family and discover the wonder of literacy. Meet authors, enjoy stories, food, prizes and games, and take home a free book. 10:30am to 6:30pm.

Southern Smoke Foundation’s big bash returns for 2023, raising funds for the nonprofit’s efforts to help food and beverage industry folks nationwide. Joined by a stellar lineup of chefs from Houston and around the country, this year’s events include the chef-fueled Throwdown at Discovery Green on Saturday.

- 2023 Annular Solar Eclipse Viewing Party at Levy Park | FREE – The Greenway park is a great place to catch the passing of the moon across the sun in this year’s annular solar eclipse. Scientists and educators from the Lunar and Planetary Institute will be on hand for a fun and educational viewing, alongside music from DJ DelSur and a lunar-themed craft for kiddos. 11am to 2:15pm.
- Second Saturday Open Studios at Sawyer Yards | FREE – Tour through more than 350 artist studios, shop an outdoor makers market and wander through Sawyer Yard’s six buildings to discover a wide selection of painting, sculpture, jewelry, photography and more. Noon to 5pm.
- WALKtoberFest 2023: Pub Crawl & Poker Hand in Downtown Galveston – Try your luck at a poker-themed pub crawl in downtown Galveston’s Postoffice District and you could win a $1500 travel voucher, dinners, and more. $30 includes a t-shirt. Noon to 6pm.
- Oktoberfest at Galveston Island Brewing | FREE – Toast to the island life at the expanded Galveston Island Brewing, featuring a full day of food and dance, with commemorative steins up for grabs, competitions, fun activities and live music. Noon to 8pm.
- Oktoberfest at Southern Star Brewing Co. | FREE – In Conroe, the Bombshell Blonde brewery kicks off a family-friendly Oktoberfest celebration, with special brews, tasty foods, live music by the Homebrewed Brass Ensemble, games and more. Noon to 10pm.
- PRH Block Party at Project Row Houses | FREE – Celebrate the 30-year legacy of Project Row Houses in Third Ward with an all-day bash with food trucks and live performances, kids activities, local vendors and more. Enjoy music from Yung Joc, Devin the Dude, Lil Keke, Marium Echo, and others at this celebration of PRH and its founders. 1pm to 9pm.
- Community Altar Workshop at Holocaust Museum Houston | FREE – This third annual workshop sees participants gathering to explore the meaning and significance of Día de los Muertos through craft making and working together to build an altar. 2pm to 4pm.

- Barktoberfest 2023 at Powder Keg | No Cover – The West Houston drinkery again hosts this pup-centered event with plenty of local beer and food trucks, a vendors market, on-site adoptions and a doggy costume contest, benefiting the local animal rescue organization, Houston Pets Alive! 2pm to 6pm.
- Southern Smoke Festival 2023 at Discovery Green – Southern Smoke Foundation’s big bash returns for 2023, raising funds for the nonprofit’s efforts to help food and beverage industry folks nationwide. Joined by a stellar lineup of chefs from Houston and around the country, this year’s events include the Respect the Rosé multi-course collaborative affair at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston on Friday (sold out), followed by the chef-fueled Throwdown at Discovery Green on Saturday. - Monterrey vs. Tigres at Shell Energy Stadium – A Clásico Regio rematch sets up two Mexican rivals on the EaDo pitch, following their heated match that also took place in Houston during early August’s Leagues Cup action. $76 and up. 5pm.

- The Riot Comedy Club’s YouTube Special Taping—Saturday at Rudyard’s Pub – Jesse Peyton, Rich Williams, Nathaniel Amador, and Canice take the stage as The Riot presents its second night of live tapings of short comic stories for YouTube. The two tapings on Saturday night feature a different lineup from the Friday night tapings on the previous evening. $20 and up. 7pm and 9pm.
- Ragamala Dance Company presents Ananta, The Eternal at Asia Society Texas – Body, memory, desire and devotion are woven into this new dance work by Aparna Ramaswamy, who is joined on stage by her sister Ashwini for an evening of solos and duets. $35. 7:30pm.

- ALCS Game 1: Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers at Minute Maid Park – The Astros begin the ALCS round against heated rivals from Arlington. If you’ve managed to grab a ticket, you can show up early in the hours before the game and enjoy a Postseason Street Fest with live music, food and drink, photo ops and more. You must have a valid ticket to the game in order to enter. Tickets are sold out, but you may find hard-to-get seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7:15pm.
- Inprint Houston presents Jhumpa Lahiri at Congregation Emanu El – The best-selling author will read from her latest book, Roman Stories. Following the reading, she will take part in a discussion with Italian novelist Andrea Bajani. Admission includes a signed hardcover copy of Lahiri’s book. $30. 7:30pm.
- Sting in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – The mythical mononym is set to headline at Cynthia Woods with a lifetime of hits from his arsenal when he brings his My Songs tour through the Woodlands. $51.50 and up. 8pm.
