Pixar Putt at Discovery Green | Daily – Round up your crew for a day or evening of fun, laughs, and photo ops at the outdoor Pixar-inspired putt putt golf pop-up in the heart of Downtown. The 18 holes are inspired by characters and stories from Pixar favorites like Inside Out 2, Toy Story, Cars, Monsters, Inc., Soul, The Incredibles, Luca, and more. Lionwoman Productions: Playhouse Creatures at MATCH | Daily – The inaugural production from Lionwoman Productions, Playhouse Creatures tells the story of 5 famous Restoration actresses in the year 1669, the year theaters reopened after 17 years of Puritan suppression. The moving and comedic romp gives a glimpse of an often unknown moment in history. $30. Showtimes vary.
Stages: Sister’s Back to School Catechism: The Holy Ghost & Other Terrifying Tales | Thursday & Friday | Ends Friday – The irrepressible Sister returns in Stages’ latest lovingly tongue-in-cheek satire, sharing the church’s take on the fall spooky season, complete with “class participation.” $89 and up. Comedian Ian Lara at Punch Line Houston | Thursday to Saturday – Named one of Variety’s 2023 “Comics to Watch” and appearances with Jimmy Fallon and his own HBO special, Lara takes over Downtown’s newest comedy stage for 4 shows over 3 nights. $27.65 and up. Times vary.
Houston Cinema Arts Festival Around Houston | Daily | Opens Thursday | Some FREE – H-Town’s yearly celebration of the silver screen returns to local venues, screening and premiering short and feature length films from Houston and around the world. Expect special guest panels, workshop opportunities, and more. Ends Sunday, November 17. Events are individually ticketed and sometimes free. $200 and up for all-access passes. Comedian Adam Ferrara at Sam Houston Race Park | Friday & Saturday – The actor and comic—known for hosting Top Gear US, his self-titled podcast, and roles in Rescue Me, Nurse Jackie, and Paul Blart: Mall Cop—takes to the SHRP stage for 2 nights. $23 and up. 7pm both nights.
Rhythm Fest at Warehouse Live Midtown & Numbers Nightclub | Friday & Saturday – The nightlife destinations tag team two nights of live club hits, with Friday performances by Front 242, Man2Man, MicroChip League, Male Tears and Schicks AI in Midtown. On Saturday night, Nitzer Ebb headlines a lineup featuring Psyche, Tassel, and Robotiko Rejekto. $40 and up. 8pm both nights.
71st Annual Gem, Mineral, Jewelry & Fossil Show at Humble Civic Center | Friday to Sunday – Still going strong in its 70s, Houston Gem and Mineral Society’s big show returns to celebrate, showcase, and sell beautiful minerals, fossils, jewelry, gemstones, and other unique finds over three days. Also expect educational exhibitions, kids activities, classes and demonstrations such as lessons on jewelry making, beading, lapidary, and fossil identifications. $12; free for ages 10 and under. Children’s Festival: Barnyard Bash at Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion | Saturday & Sunday – Kids are invited for a two-day celebration, complete with a performance by Peppa Pig on the main stage, hands-on activities, toddler fun, art projects, inflatable adventures, rides, and more. $10 per day. Saturday 10am to 5pm. Sunday noon to 4pm.
PAW Patrol Live! A Mighty Adventure at Hobby Center | Saturday & Sunday – Join the Chase, Skye, and the entire PAW Patrol in an all-new live stage show that picks up right where hit film PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie wrapped. 11th Annual Islamic Arts Festival at University of Houston Main Campus | Saturday & Sunday | FREE – The largest and oldest festival of Islamic arts in the U.S. moves from a suburban location to the heart of Houston for two days art shopping directly from 50 national artists, while enjoying live music, comedy, a film festival, interactive art sessions, ethnic foods for sale, live demonstrations on calligraphy, henna tattoos, ebru, painting, and a variety of children’s art activities. 10:30am to 5:30pm both days.
Comedian Joey Avery at The Riot Comedy Club | Saturday & Sunday – Known for quickly growing his online following with a mix of improvised standup and precise material, the comic seen on Comedy Central and Don’t Tell Comedy brings his act to Montrose for 3 sets. $25 and up. Times vary.
