  • Sugar Land Space Cowboys vs. Salt Lake Bees at Constellation Field | Daily – The Bees come buzzing through Sugar Land for a week-long series with promotions up for grabs to the first 2,000 fans, including a Framber Valdez World Series ring on Friday, a JJ Matijevic bat flip bobblehead on Saturday, and a Space Cowboys Flying Fortress Military jersey on Sunday. $9 and up. Times vary.
  • Forever Motown at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Thursday to Saturday | FREE – A signature performance during Miller Outdoor Theatre’s centennial year, this concert brings the lead singers of iconic groups like the Four Tops, the Temptations and the Marvelettes for an all-star performance of legendary Motown tunes over three straight nights. 8pm.
  • Comicpalooza at George R. Brown Convention Center | Friday to Sunday – Across three days, faithful fans of comic books, anime, gaming and pop culture are invited for a weekend throwdown with their favorite creators, celebrities and fellow fanatics. Shop an artisan market, take in spectacles throughout the convention floor, snap photos with cosplayers and much more. Single-day passes range from $50 to $74, increasing at the door. Weekend passes are $105 and up; $6 for ages 6 to 12; free for ages 5 and under. Times vary.

Friday to Sunday

Across three days, faithful fans of comic books, anime, gaming and pop culture are invited for a weekend throwdown with their favorite creators, celebrities and fellow fanatics. Shop an artisan market, take in spectacles throughout the convention floor, snap photos with cosplayers and much more.

  • Final Weekend: Lain Singh Bangdel: Moon Over Kathmandu at Asia Society Texas Center | Friday to Sunday – Get a last look in the final days of this exhibition of artwork by Indian novelist, art historian, academician and painter Lain Singh Bangdel, often referred to as the “father of modern art” in Nepal. Times vary.
  • Run to Remember at Memorial Park | Friday to Monday | FREE – A flag-lined Seymour Lieberman Trail in Memorial Park offers all Houstonians a chance to run or walk one mile (or more, if you choose) to commemorate loved ones who have served in the armed forces. This is free and open to all who wish to participate; registration helps the Memorial Park Conservancy tally the total number of miles from all participants. Park hours are 6am to 11pm daily.
  • Otaku’s Camouflage Food Festival at No Label Brewing Co. | Saturday & Sunday | FREE – The Katy brewery hosts this two-day family food and anime event that features more than 30 food, drink and anime vendors, plus voice actors, sumo wrestling, cosplay contests, live music and more. Times vary.

  • Hard Hats for Little Heads at Children’s Museum Houston | FREE – The first 50 children visiting for Free Family Night can take home a free bicycle helmet, courtesy of Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Medical Association. Parents are encouraged to measure their children’s head prior to visiting. Ages 3 to 12. Limit 3 children per family; each child must be present. 5pm to 6pm.
  • Country Music & Steak Night Thursdays at Now or Never | No Cover – The Travis Street hotspot in Midtown hosts a weekly steak dinner night (filet, ribeye and rack ribs available) along with country tunes ’til midnight. Steak ranges from $20 to $25. 6pm.
  • Love & Wondervision Opening Reception at Moody Center for the Arts | FREE – Artist JooYoung Choi will be on hand for the opening of this summer exhibition at the Rice University gallery, marking her first institutional solo show that explores issues of identity and reflecting her research into media representation. 6pm to 8pm.
  • Disco Prom at M-K-T | FREE with RSVP – Teaming up with fashion designer Chloe Dao, the shopping and dining destination in the Heights throws it back with a fashion-forward disco prom featuring entertainment, prizes, dancing and more. H-Town’s own Blackberri emcees the event, which also includes a disco dancing lesson, Holler Brewing beverages, a sip ‘n’ shop auction, and Best Dressed contests. Space is limited; RSVPs are strongly encouraged. 6pm to 9pm.
  • Author Ayokunle Falomo: African American’t at Brazos Bookstore | FREE – The author reads from his collection of poetry, which explores the topics of assimilation, forgetting and allegiance to any one country, drawing on his experiences in his native Nigeria and America. He’s joined by Maha Ahmed, Jeremy Eugene, Analicia Sotelo, and Ebony Stewart. Free to attend; books are $16. 6:30pm.
  • The Internet & Hate Speech in a Post-Truth Society at Asia Society Texas Center | FREE with RSVP – Gathering the minds of academia, digital media and machine learning engineering, Asia Society hosts this panel discussion which examines the ways the internet has served as a platform for alarming rises in digital hate speech. Advance registration required. 6:30pm to 9pm.

Celebrating their lucky thirteenth record, Return of the Dream Canteen, the record-breaking titans of rock, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are bringing the Strokes and Thundercat on a ride through Houston when they play the Juicebox.

  • Drag Bingo at Eureka Heights Brew Co. | No Cover – Dessie Love-Blake hosts Bingo rounds at the Heights brewery for a night of uproarious number crunching. Bring your own dauber or purchase one for $2. 7pm to 8:30pm.
  • Garrett T. Capps in Concert at Discovery Green | FREE – Hailed as San Antonio’s resident “cosmic country gonzo honky tonk weirdo freak,” Garrett T. Capps and his band, NASA Country, headline the Thursday Night Concert in Downtown. Austin-based Ms. Mack & the Daddies join in support. 7pm to 9pm.
  • Teeling Single Barrel Release and Tasting at Reserve 101 – Taste through a flight of Teeling Irish Whiskey at this private sampling event led by Teeling’s Whiskey Ambassador, Hal Brock. $45. 7pm to 10pm.
  • Bush in Concert at Bayou Music Center – The Gavin Rossdale–led group rolls into Downtown, performing songs from their late-2022 release, The Art of Survival, and other fan faves. $25 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Comedian David Lucas at Houston Improv – A regular on the Kill Tony podcast and a roast master that got his career started on MTV’s Yo Momma, David Lucas lands at the Improv for a one night-only show. $40 for 2, and up. 7:30pm.
