  • OHBAPalooza at United Way of Greater Houston – This educational event showcases the experiences of cultivating organic foods and fostering community through urban farming. Dive into topics like therapeutic gardening, water conservation, and the fascinating world of beneficial insects. $70. 8am to 3:30pm.
  • East End Lagoon Guided Nature Walks in Galveston | FREE – Learn more about the local ecosystem with this 60-minute exploration through the natural wonders of the East End Lagoon Nature Preserve near the Galveston coast. You’ll see flora and fauna and find out what makes this environment so special. 9am.
  • On The Street Houston: Streetwear Pop-Up Market at The Garage HTX | FREE – Experience fashion, music, and community fusion through a curated selection of cutting-edge designs from the city’s most innovative local brands. There will also be live DJs and performances. Noon to 6pm.
  • Space News & Brews at Bad Astronaut Brewing – Immerse yourself in an ask-me-anything discussion with space experts and craft brew experts about important space science and exploration news at the Northside brewery. $20. 1pm to 4pm.
  • Impossible Paper Architecture at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston | FREE – Inspired by Olivia Erlanger’s off-world landscapes and impossible architectures, you’ll create a surreal structure using paper and tape. This class is suitable for all artistic levels. 1pm to 4pm.
  • Super Saturday: Back to School Bento at Asia Society Texas – Explore new ideas for school lunches and find inspiration from Japanese bento boxes. Designed for adults and kids alike, this workshop will get your creative ideas flowing as you learn about the history of these popular Japanese boxes. $10 and up. 10:30am to 1:30pm.
  • DIY Dairy at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center – In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to make queso fresco and homemade “churned” butter. $50. 3pm to 5pm.
  • Author Gabino Iglesias at Murder by the Book | FREE – The author discusses his latest book, The House of Bone and Rain with R.J. Joseph, author of Hell Hath No Sorrow Like a Woman Haunted. The writers will talk about their practice and sign copies of books for fans. In order to have your book signed, it must be purchased from the store. 3pm.
  • After the Storm: Art Renewal at Silver Street Studios | FREE – Adam Land Fine Arts presents this unique collection of works inspired by the recent Hurricane Beryl and the powerful windstorms that swept through Houston over the last few months. 5pm to 7pm.
  • Bird Bodegas at Houston Botanic Garden – Join Houston Audubon for an introduction to the world of native plants and avian habitats as you discover the beauty and benefits of native plants in a climate-controlled setting, then venture outdoors to identify the garden native plant species that support local bird populations. $15. 6pm to 7:30pm.
  • Houston Chef Series: Grand Finale Dinner at Post Oak Hotel – Throughout the summer, chefs from across Houston have participated in this Landry’s showcase, with a theme of “Presidential State Dinners.” Tonight’s finale highlights all of the featured chefs. $200. 6pm to 10pm.
  • I Prevail & Halestorm in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – The hard rock acts bring their signature sounds to the Woodlands stage in this live concert. Hollywood Undead and Fit for a King open. $29.50 and up. 6pm.
  • Strand Summer Series: Wonka at Hendley Green | FREE – Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and come out for this family movie musical, a prequel to 1971’s beloved Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory that reveals how the candy man’s curious unlikely enterprise came to be. 6:30pm and 9pm.
  • 10th Annual OkraFest at Historic Galveston Water & Electric Light Community Center – Galveston’s Own Farmers Market hosts an evening of whimsy, seasonal flavors and community goodness. Showcasing the local farmers and ranchers that help make up the market, the night includes dinner from Mosquito Café, open bar with Daiquiri Time out, craft beer from Galveston Island Brewing, plus live music and dancing, auctions, an Okra Hat competition and more. $175 and up. 7pm to 10pm.
  • Performing Arts Houston present Queen of the Night: A Whitney Houston Tribute at Wortham Center – Amanda Cole, former vocalist of En Vogue, lights up the stage in this tribute to the iconic pop star. You’ll hear some of Whitney’s biggest hits, including “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” “How Will I Know?,” “I Will Always Love You” and more. $53 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Demola in Concert at 713 Music Hall – The talented Nigerian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, also known as “Demola the Violinist,” plans to show up and show out when he headlines the 713 Music Hall stage. $41.25 and up. 8pm.
  • The Artist & the Astronaut Movie Screening at the Grand 1894 Opera House – This is the unlikely love story between the artist Pat Musick, a civil rights activist, and the Apollo astronaut Jerry Carr as they participate in some of the most historic events in human history. The film has never-before-seen footage of the early space pioneers and features interviews with key figures from that era. A Q&A follows the screening. $20 and up. 8pm.
  • Grupo Frontera in Concert at Toyota Center – The American regional Mexican band known for songs like “El amor de su vida” and “No se va” comes to Houston for a live performance. Formed in Edinburgh, Texas in 2022, they’re now selling out arenas worldwide. $59.50 and up. 8pm.
  • Brat Rave at Warehouse Live Midtown – Live your brat summer when the Charli XCX-themed party night comes to Warehouse Live in Midtown. $20. 9pm.
  • Doomsday Wrestling’s Hot n’ Sticky Summer Showdown at Bad Astronaut Brewing – Wrestlers Larry Christmas, Poundcake, Tex Lonestar, Doll Face, and more take to the ring as the popular attraction returns to the Northside brewery. $17. 9pm to 11:30pm.

  • Galveston Family Beach Challenge at East Beach | FREE – This family fun day features 14 stations designed for anyone over the age of 8 to participate. The beachside course will see families competing to win up to $2,000 in prizes. Registration required. 9am.
  • Figure Drawing Marathon at Archway Gallery – The Montrose gallery hosts three figure drawing sessions throughout Sunday, featuring two nude model and one clothed model session. Art materials are available and light refreshments will be on hand throughout the day. $20. Sessions at 10am, 1pm and 5pm.
  • Pound & Pour at City Acre Brewing Co. – Start your Sunday with an hour of high-energy workouts, set to pulsating beats. After your session, enjoy a beer. $15. 11am.
  • Barrio Dogs 2nd Annual Let’s Play Loteria at The Ballroom at Bayou Place – Expect games, food, drinks, a costume contest, and of course, Lotería at this bash celebrating the nonprofit dedicated to creating a better future for animals and the community. $50. 1pm to 5pm.
  • Little Artists: Summer 2024 at Museum of Fine Arts Houston – This program explores the exhibition Thomas Demand: The Stutter of History. Teaching artist Zulma Vega shows how to re-create worlds with paper and cardboard. $10. 1pm to 2:30pm.
  • BLCK 2 School at BLCK Market | FREE – The Greenstreet home of BLCK Market hosts a back-to-school event with local artists, food, interactive activities and a huge array of local vendors. 1pm to 5pm.
  • Oddities Market at SpindleTap Brewery | FREE – Explore a trove of rare collectibles, peculiar trinkets, and mysterious concoctions as you shop from macabre artists and creators. You’ll also enjoy local food vendors, and enjoy music, drinks and other attractions. 1pm to 6pm.
  • Plants & Prosecco at The Plant Project Houston | FREE  – This afternoon party at Montrose Collective features botanicals, beats and burgers. Come out for free plants and free prosecco, along with Boo’s Burgers and DJ Sage. 1pm to 3pm.
  • Grifters & Shills at Dan Electro’s | FREE – The Houston Americana duo sings harmony with a rock and roll soul. Catch them in this live set at the Heights venue. 2pm.
  • Burnin Dogs Eating Contest in Old Town Harrisburg – Think you have what it takes to be a champion eater? Find out in this hot dog eating contest. How many can you put away and is it enough to win? $25. 5pm.
  • Limp Bizkit in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – The legendary nu-metal band celebrates 30 years with a host of buddies, from Cory Feldman to Riff Raff, when they bring their Loserville tour to the Woodlands playing all the familiar faves. $49.50 and up. 6:30pm.
  • Alex vs. America Viewing Party at Craft Pita – Come out to watch Chef Raffi compete on the Food Network series, in this battle of Mediterranean food against Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli. Admission gets you the dishes made by Chef Raffi in the episode. $50. 7:30pm to 9pm.
  • Comedian Andrew Conn at The Secret Group – The comedian, one of the most-viewed comics on social media, comes to Houston to perform live. Expect a set where he explores his life and the happenings in the world today. $20 and up. 8pm to 10pm.
  • Sunday Funday Fireworks at the Beach in Galveston | FREE – Cap off your weekend with the final Sunday Funday fireworks show over the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The event coincides with the Island’s ongoing back-to-school bucket list scavenger hunt, where you can pick up a prize for checking off core Galveston experiences. 9pm.
