  • 7th Annual Oyster Shucking Contest at Julep – Delight in freshly shucked oysters, cheer on your favorite chef, and enjoy all of the tasty Gulf Coast goodness at Julep’s annual tradition, now part of Julep’s monthlong Bourbon Fest. $10. 5pm to 7pm.
  • Australian Wine Tasting with Mark Davidson at Asia Society Texas Center – Sommelier and the head of Education for Americas for Wine Australia, Mark Davidson will guide guests through a deliciously informative tasting of wines from Australia’s different regions. $85; $65 for members. 5:30pm to 7pm.
  • Open Mic at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck | No Cover – Catch singers, musicians, poets, comics and more take to the stage to try out songs, material and more. If you want to take the stage yourself, sign up is at 5:30pm. 6pm to 9:30pm.
  • Reverse Happy Hour at Social Beer Garden | No Cover – Enjoy drink specials—including $7 Jamesons, $5 Titos, $5 Green Tea, $6 frozens—that kick in after other happy hours wrap up. 7pm to 11pm.
  • Irish Session & Game Night at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck | No Cover – The Duck in Upper Kirby hosts its weekly Irish Session live music performances, while pulling out all the board games for group and individual play. 7:30pm 10:30pm.
  • JT in Concert at White Oak Music Hall – JT, rapper and one half of the hip-hop duo City Girls, brings her City Cinderella Tour the downstairs stage at White Oak. $39.50. 7pm.
  • Evan Honer in Concert at Last Concert Cafe – Known for blending modern outlaw country, indie folk, and alt-pop, singer-songwriter Evan Horner takes the stage at Last Concert Cafe in Downtown’s Warehouse District. $30. 7pm.

  • Cigarettes After Sex at Toyota Center | Wednesday – Known for ethereal musical style, the indie dream pop band originally formed in El Paso, and the X’s World Tour takes to the arena stage in Downtown. $29 and up. 8pm.
  • Marianas Trench in Concert at House of Blues | Wednesday – The pop rock band from Vancouver—best known for “Who Do You Love”, “Cross My Heart”, and “One Love”—bring their Forces of Nature tour to the music hall, with Cassadee Pope and Piao opening. $29 and up. 7pm.

  • Sunset Bingo at Levy Park – The delightful Upper Kirby park hosts an evening of tunes from DJ Del Sur and the opportunity to daub your way to great bingo prizes. $10 cash gets you eight games. 5pm.
  • Platinum Wine Vault Luxury Tasting at Bayway Cadillac of The Woodlands – The team behind The Woodlands Wine and Food Week host an indulgent night of wine tastings and food pairings, for both experts and novices. Don your cocktail attire for flights of ultra-premium wines from around the globe plussed by chef-inspired food pairings in an intimate, exclusive setting. $150. 6pm to 9pm.
  • Oktoberfest Kickoff Celebration at Saint Arnold Brewing Company | No Cover – Texas’ OG craft brewery launches its Oktoberfest season by tapping the first cask of Oktoberfest beer and German-style hefeweizen, with music from Houston Brass Band, German food, and more. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Spirited Dinner with Fan-Favorite New Orleans Cocktails at Brennan’s of Houston – New Orleans cocktail historian Elizabeth Pearce leads an evening of storytelling and great cocktail savoring. Cocktails will be the Vieux Carré, Julep, Ramos Gin Fizz, and Café Brûlot—each paired with one of Brennan’s signature dishes. $140. 6:30pm.
  • Hopera: Pint-Sized Performances: Boleros & Arias at Eureka Heights Brewing Co. | FREE – Grab a brew and enjoy selections from Mexican films, tango and other styles. Hopera is determined to showcase opera as an art form for everyone in a fun and casual environment. 7pm.
  • Sofi Tukker Live at Bayou Music Center – The electronic music duo from New York City lands in Downtown for a live show. Known for their songs “Drinkee,” “Best Friend,” and “Purple Hat,” their 2018 album Treehouse hit no. 5 on the U.S. dance charts. $57.50 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Peter Cat Recording Co. in Concert at House of Blues | Friday – Celebrating their new album Good Luck Beta ’24 with a North American tour, the five-man Indian alternative rock outfit originally from New Delhi brings their entrancingly eclectic mix of gypsy jazz, psychedelic, jazz, alt-rock, and ballroom to Houston. $25 and up. 7:30pm.
  • The Pilot Dance Project: Bayou City Dances at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – The Hermann Park stage hosts a dance festival performance magnifying the diversity of Houston’s choreographic voices, featuring new works showcasing modern, contemporary, salsa, classical Indian, ballet, and hip-hop. 8pm.
  • Comedian Eddie Griffin at Cullen Performance Hall – The comic honored as one of Comedy Central’s “Top 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time”—and best known from his role as the pastor in 2018’s A Star is Born and his Showtime comedy special Eddie Griffin: Undeniable—lands at the UH Campus. $34.50 and up. 8pm.
  • Gracie Abrams in Concert at 713 Music Hall – Indie pop sensation Gracie Abrams graces the Post Houston stage when her Secret of Us tour passes through HTX. Role Model opens. $116 and up. 8pm.
  • Bob Schneider in Concert at The Heights Theater | Friday – Austin’s favorite and hardest working singer-songwriting crooner, who formerly fronted The Ugly Americans and The Scabs, brings his blend of folk, rock, rap, funk, bluegrass, reggae and country to the Heights for a single night. $24 and up. 8pm.
  • Truckfighters Live Set at The Secret Group – The Swedish rock band brings their world tour to EaDo. Performing since 2001, the story of the band’s life was the subject of the 2011 film Truckfighters. $18 and up. 8pm.
  • Nurko DJ Set at Stereo Live – The American-Montenegrin dance/electronic music DJ, known for his boundary pushing brand of melodic bass and signature airy leads comes to Houston in a stop on his tour through North America. $19.99. 10pm.

  • Drag Queen Brunch at Chapman & Kirby – Enjoy a tasty brunch buffet in EaDo while soaking in some of Houston’s most talented drag performers as they dazzle with their incredible lip-syncing, dancing and comedy routines. $35. Noon.
  • Holler for Oktoberfest at Holler Brewing | No Cover – The Sawyer Yards brewery hosts a stein holding competition, live German music and releases of Marz Attacks to celebrate the season. Noon to 6pm.

  • 3rd Annual Franktoberfest at Frankenboltzzzz Brewing Co. | No Cover – Enjoy turkey legs, brats, and German food at the Montgomery brewing as they tap their first Märzen of the season. Noon to 10pm.
  • Oktoberfest at the Texas Leaguer Beerpark | No Cover – Enjoy German food, live polka by Texas Legacy Czech Band, and new releases at the Stafford brewery. Noon to 10pm.
  • Oktoberfest 2024 at Little Woodrow’s Midtown | No Cover – Midtown’s turtle racing headquarters goes full Deutsch with beer tastings and giveaways, followed by a stein-hoisting competition, DJ tunes, and more. 2pm to 5pm.
  • Flea by Night at Discovery Green | FREE – The uber-popular market returns to Downtown, allowing guests to treasure hunt for one-of-a-kind vintage, handmade, recycled and local goods while enjoying food trucks and music. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Houston’s Astronomical Society Star Party at the Park at Memorial Park | FREE – Meet knowledgeable astronomers who’ll guide you through a viewing of the constellations, planets, and other celestial objects. Everyone with an interest in astronomy, from beginners to advanced, are welcome. 7pm.
  • Glass Animals in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – Fresh off the summer release of their fourth studio album, I Love You So F***king Much, the English alternative indie rock band out of Oxford lands on the Woodlands stage. $30 and up. 7:45pm.
  • Houston Latin Jazz Orchestra: The Latin Side of Houston at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Experience a concert honoring Houston’s legendary musicians, reimagining their music in a Latin jazz setting.   • Kishi Bashi in Concert at Last Concert Cafe – The indie singer, multi-instrumentalist, and lands in Houston in support of his latest album, Kantos—a party album about the possible end of humanity as we know it, at turns deeply unsettling and sublimely joyful. $22. 9pm.
  • 46th Anniversary Party at Numbers  – The Montrose nightclub institution throws an anniversary bash, celebrating more than four decades of dancing and music. Expect nostalgia, prizes and more. Cover TBD. 9pm to 2am.
  • Ficheras, A Latin Live Band & Burlesque Show at Social Beer Garden | No Cover – Get ready for a festive evening with this Latin live band and burlesque show, featuring Latin beats, dancing, and showgirls. Doors at 9pm; show at 11pm.

  • USPA H. Ben Taub Memorial Cup at Houston Polo Club  – Experience a world class polo match, player parade, live music, expert announcing, Champagne divot stomp at halftime and special trophy presentation.
