  • Texas New Music Festival at MATCH | Daily | Some FREE – This summer fest offers a week of world-class performances and lectures while providing career building opportunities for international musical artists across the Houston community. Enjoy concerts (including a free on on Wednesday), and a guest lecture on Saturday with Carlos Chavez, Mexico’s first international composer. $20 for individual concerts; $50 for a festival pass. Some events are free. Times vary.
  • Latin Restaurant Weeks at Multiple Location | Daily | Ongoing – This two-week dining event (running through Friday, July 21) sees dozens of participating restaurants across the city showcasing dishes in prix-fixe menus from a variety of cuisines, including Colombian, Ecuadorian, Mexican and across the Central and South America diaspora. Prices and times vary.
  • Comedian DeRay Davis at Houston Improv | Thursday to Sunday – The actor and comedian known for roles on Snowfall and The Boondocks comes to H-Town for a weekend of his latest set, Too Much?! $80 for 2, and up. Times vary.
  • Loco for Coconut Party at Truck Yard Houston | Friday & Saturday | No Cover – Wear your tropical best, and head to EaDo for this tropical party featuring luau drinks, hula dancers and, of course, coconuts. Friday 5pm to 2am; Saturday noon to 2am.
  • Celebrate Miller: An Evening Of Imagination! at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday & Saturday | FREE – Bring the family for an evening of imagination and performance with interactive puppet shows, magicians, a collaborative mural and more—including photo ops with a larger-than-life birthday cake. Plus, stick around on both nights for a special Theatre Under the Stars program celebrating Houston with the iconic sounds of Broadway. 6:30pm; TUTS concert starts at 8:30pm.
  • The Riot Comedy Club presents Mike Cannon at Rudyard’s Pub | Friday & Saturday – After recently dropping two specials in 2022, White Privilege Homeless and Mike Cannon’s Huge Mistake (a crowd work special on edibles), the New York-based comedian and actor performs two nights at Rudyard’s upstairs stage. $17 and up. Times vary.

  • Summer Socials at CityCentre | No Cover – Enjoy fun, music, food and giveaways as you explore the shops and restaurants of this popular westside development. Flash Gordon Parks takes his place on the decks to spin funk, hip-hop and soul, and visitors can enjoy happy hour pricing at Sal y Pimienta, free pizza delivery to the plaza from Yi Peng, a 15% discount at Kendra Scott, and more. 5pm to 7pm.
  • Houston Texans 713 Day at Post Houston | FREE – The Texans team up with Bud Light for an all-ages 713 Day celebration at Post, featuring appearances by Texans celebrities, Toro the mascot, games, giveaways, music and more. 5pm to 8pm.
  • 713 Day at Social Beer Garden | No Cover – Celebrate the Bayou City and all its uniqueness in this party atmosphere that includes live music, DJs, drink specials, food trucks and more. 5pm to 11:30pm.
  • Houston 713 Day at Bad Astronaut Brewing | No Cover – The Northside brewery hosts a 713 Day bash with more than 20 local vendors, plus food from LaMacro, music by DJ Flovverhead, and a special Houston paint session. 5pm to midnight.
  • 713 Day Pop-Up Market at East End Backyard | No Cover – H-Town Drip Sauce presents this evening of shopping from more than 20 local vendors, plus music, food and drinks at the laid-back East End hotspot. 6pm.
  • El Lago with Tremours in Concert at Menard Park | FREE – One of Galveston’s last shows in the Save the Locals Concert Series features the dream pop sounds of El Lago, supported by Tremours, at the outdoor park near the seawall. 6pm to 9pm.
  • The Insatiable Glass & Live Jazz at Ouisie’s Table – The classic River Oaks restaurant brings back its jazz and wine summer series. Times 4 will perform a live jazz set and guests who purchase an entree can enjoy unlimited wine samplings for $35. Reservations are strongly encouraged as space is limited. 6pm to 9pm.
  • Midsummer Yuletide Cruise at Galveston Yacht Marina – Benefiting Galveston Arts Center, this holiday-themed cruise offers sunset views on the water, hors d’oeuvres and dessert bites, plus wine, beer and other non-alcoholic beverages. Holiday-inspired attire is encouraged. $200 per person; $350 per couple. 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
  • Comedian Kim Congdon at the Secret Group – A regular on Impractical Jokers and co-host of This Bitch Podcast with fellow comedian Sara Weinshenk, Kim Congdon appears for one night at the EaDo comedy club. $25 and up. 8pm.
  • ’80s Glow Party at the Albatross in Galveston – DJ El Ray spins a night of ’80s music under the black lights, where leg warmers, crazy hair, neon attire, and more rule the night. Cover charge at the door. 9pm to 1am.

Friday, July 14, 2023 

  • Sip, Sup & Stroll at Houston Botanic Garden – Enjoy the South Houston garden in the evening as you sip beer selections from Second Ward’s Equal Parts Brewing and nosh on bites paired to go with each. $75 per person. 6pm to 8pm.
  • Summer Nights at MFAH – Art lovers who want to beat the crowds will love these private evenings at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. Sip cocktails, chat with curators, wander the galleries and spend time with your favorite works of art. Attendees receive one complimentary drink per admission ticket. $40. 6pm to 9pm.
  • Bastille Day at Rice Stadium – The French American Chamber of Commerce hosts this celebration of France’s national holiday. There will be rosé tastings, food vendors, music performances, and an array of sporting events in a nod to the 2024 Paris Olympics. $15 for adults; free for ages 12 and under. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets Movie Screening at Urban South HTX | No Cover – As part of the month-long Potterfest taking place at the Arts District brewery, Urban South hosts a screening of the second film in the beloved series, ahead of a late-July trivia night and festival. 6:30pm.
  • Mixers & Elixirs at Houston Museum of Natural Science – Party amid prehistory when HMNS returns with another edition of its popular Mixers & Elixirs series, which offers a dance floor to groove on, along with cash bars and local food trucks on hand. $25. 7pm to 10pm.
  • Noche de Cumbia at Axelrad | FREE – The Third Ward watering hole hosts its monthly evening of Cumbia music on the outdoor stage, featuring Wamaygallo, Sonora Hechicera, Rosez and Seys. 21+ only. 7pm to 1:30am.
  • Zeshan B in Concert at Asia Society Texas – Presented as part of Asia Society Texas’ Muslim Series, this concert showcases Zeshan B’s music with its South Asian influences and gospel-tinged touches. $30. 7:30pm to 9pm.
  • Marca MP in Concert at Smart Financial Centre – The California-based trio making Regional Mexican music is bringing their flair for banda, mariachi, and more to Sugar Land with the Brindo tour. $44 and up. 8pm.
  • Block Karaoke Night at Finn Hall | No Cover – Grab the mic and belt out your favorite tunes, then grab a bite and drink from one of the food hall’s many offerings at this inaugural karaoke event hosted by Mathis Jones. 9pm to 11pm.
  • Tears For Fears Pre-Party at Numbers Nightclub – Classic Numbers night gets a dose of Tears for Fears ahead of their Sunday night concert in the Woodlands. Cover charge at the door. 9pm to 2am.
  • Mark Knight DJ Set at Bauhaus – The Grammy-nominated DJ and record label producer takes over the decks at Bauhaus in Downtown. $10 and up. 10pm to 2am.

  • Goat Yoga at Little Woodrow’s Heights – The Heights outpost of this popular drinkery hosts a morning workout that features downward dog and curious goats interacting with the yogis. The 45-minute class is followed by 15 minutes of goat time. Bring your own mat or rent one, and stick around after class to hang out and enjoy the company of new friends. $45 and up. 10am.
  • 10th Annual Albatross Old Smokey Throwdown at the Albatross | FREE – The Downtown Galveston bar hosts a smoked barbecue throwdown where small teams compete using only an Old Smokey grill. Categories include spam, chicken wings, and bacon. Tasting times vary by category. 10am to 6pm.
  • Red, White & Brut Bastille Day Bash at Brasserie 19 | No Cover – The River Oaks restaurant welcomes Veuve Clicquot and Moët Hennessey for an afternoon of bubbles, rosé, specialty cocktails, food specials and more. Noon to 3pm.
  • Taco & Margarita Festival at Ford Park in Beaumont – Grab fistfuls of tacos paired with margaritas and enjoy a Beaumont festival with pro wrestling, local shopping, live DJs and more. $10 and up. Noon to 5pm.
  • Anniversary Party at Frost Town Brewing | No Cover – The Downtown brewery turns 1 and to celebrate, they’re throwing a family-friendly birthday bash with beer releases, tasty eats, DJ tunes and local vendors. 1pm to 10pm.
  • Vegan Vibez Summer Festival at the Raven Tower – Check out more than 70 vendors serving up delicious vegan foods at this Northside food festival that also includes a cooking contest, a rollerskate/dance battle, a vegan fashion runway show, giveaways, live music and more. $20. 2pm to 11pm.
  • Bikini Contest at Float Pool & Patio Bar | No Cover – The Galveston pool and patio bar hosts a bikini contest with $100 cash and $100 gift cards up for grabs. 3pm to 8pm.
  • Pretty Darn Small: Tiny Art, Art Show at Hardy & Nance Studios | FREE – The annual exhibition returns to the near Downtown art gallery, featuring works that are 4 inches or smaller. 5pm to 9pm.
  • Brewsology Beer Fest at Houston Museum of Natural Science – Beer nerds can hit up HMNS after hours for a night of brewsology. The event features dozens of local craft breweries and cideries, and your tickets include access to the museum and exhibits, and beer samplings. $50 and up; VIP options available. 7pm to 11pm.
  • 23rd Anniversary Bash at Continental Club | No Cover – Get ready for a good time in celebration of the Mid-Main concert venue and backyard dive, Continental Club, when they host a Customer Appreciation Party honoring 23 years of service. The packed concert lineup features sets from Tomar & the FCs, the Allen Oldies Band, Jane Woe, the Lonesome Haunts, and many others. 7pm to 2am.
  • Mixed Media at MFAH – The Museum of Fine Arts Houston hosts a late-night party that offers live music from the Suffers, Lenora and DJ Tay Powers, plus dancing and drinks, and a look at the new exhibition, William Kentridge: In Praise of Shadows. $30. 8pm to midnight.
  • Doomsday Wrestling presents Hot n’ Sticky Summer Showdown at Urban South HTX – Roachella, Top Banana, Larry Christmas, Doll Face and more hit the ring as part of Houston’s very own comedy wrestling showcase. $15 and up. 9pm.
  • Sorry Papi Tour: The All Girl Party at House of Blues – Dance the night away with an all-girl DJ line up spinning Top 40 and reggaeton music, immersive art installations, themed cocktails, photo ops, and more. $25 and up. 9pm.
  • Saymynitti DJ Set at Stereo Live – Hard trap pioneer Say My Name teams up with DJ and producer Nitti Gritti for a night in West Houston on the Rave Revival Tour. $10. 10pm to 2am.

Sunday, July 16, 2023 

  • Punk Rock Garage Sale at Bad Astronaut Brewing | No Cover – This massive sale in Northside features music, art, toys and books, collectibles and comics, clothing, music gear, and handmade offerings on sale from local vendors. Live music performances follow the close of the sale. 1pm to 7pm.
  • Colombian Fest International at Houston City Hall – Celebrate Colombian independence at Texas’ biggest celebration of its kind, boasting authentic art and food, as well as a local market, children’s games and more. Featured artists include Jorge Celedon, Formell y Los Van Van, La Suprema Corte, Willy Garcia and local talent from right here in Houston. $30 and up. 1pm to 10pm.
  • Pizza & Bubbles at Ostia | No Cover – Diners can treat themselves to a rotating menu of delectable pizzas, accompanied by an irresistible discount of 25% off all bubbles, be it by glass or bottle. From savory pizzas and exquisite sparkling wines, this is the ultimate pairing to beat the heat. 5pm to 9pm.
  • Tears for Fears, with Cold War Kids in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – The English pop duo are bringing some of the most iconic tunes of the ’80s era to the Woodlands, along with their latest release, The Tipping Point. $29.50 and up. 7:30pm.
