Surround yourself in Houston’s railroad past at the historic Rosenberg Railroad Museum southwest of Sugarland.
Explore the railroad history of Fort Bend Country, just 35 miles southwest of downtown Houston. The town of Rosenberg was founded in 1880 when the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Company created a junction there and named it after the railway’s president. Today, you can visit a recreation of the original depot, and see the Rosenberg Railroad Museum’s collection of historic railcars and other railway paraphernalia.
The collection includes a caboose and a refurbished 1920s Canadian government business car known as the “Quebec” which transported officials in style. Visitors can also try their hand as station masters, controlling the track changes on a model track.
