Explore unique monthly gallery shows, art competitions, community programs, and more at the Conroe Art League.

Just 50 or so miles from Downtown Houston, close to Lake Conroe, visitors can step back into the boomtown days while checking out current works of art at this laid-back gallery destination.

Founded in 1963 with seven local artists, today, the nonprofit organization of vibrant artists and art lovers has grown to more than 250 members.

Looking to try your own hand as an artist? Art education is a top priority for CAL and classes and workshops are offered in a variety of mediums and there are plenty of outreach programs, too.

While you’re there, be sure to check out these other must-do things near Conroe’s charming historic downtown, which is lined with restored century-old buildings, antique and boutique shops, and cozy cafes.
