Sunday, November 9[/quote_box_right]Holiday shopping season is about to creep onto the schedule, but there are plenty of things to do this weekend including the We Heart Houston Fest under the watchful gaze of 36-foot tall statues of the Beatles at Summer Street Studios, Stereo Live’s Houston Food Truck Fest, a free showing of The Lego Movie at Miller Outdoor Theatre, the Rice Village Flea Market and the final shows of Stages Repertory Theatre’s Marie Antoinette.

- Lone Star Rally in Historic Downtown Galveston | Daily | FREE – Ride out to Galveston to join other motorcycle enthusiasts for a weekend of live music and industry vendors. All day.
- 42nd Annual Jewish Book and Arts Fair at ERJCC | Daily – Say challah at the annual Jewish Book and Arts Fair. Experience literary and performing arts at this cultural event featuring films, concerts, and programs led by prominent authors. $80; $60 members. Times vary.
- Marie Antoinette at Stages Repertory Theatre | Daily – Experience the French Revolution from the perspective of the Austrian-born bride of France’s Louis XVI, best known for the quote “Let them eat cake.” The captivating production stars Emily Neves and contains a cutting social commentary on modern life.
- International Literature Festival | Thursday to Saturday | FREE – Listen in on new and experienced writers from various countries within the Americas as they share their narratives and poetry during this festival presented by Casa Cultural de las Americas. Times Vary
- Metro Dances Inside the Loop | Thursday to Saturday | FREE – Experience an innovative style of dance from Frame Dance Productions as their dancers perform in places such as moving trucks and light rail trains. Thursday 7pm to 9pm; Friday 7pm; Saturday 4pm.
- TX Zombie Hunt in Richmond | Friday and Saturday – If you’re still yearning for a fright, head out to Richmond and hop onboard the barge. You’ll be armed with a paintball gun and you’ll want plenty of ammo to blast attacking zombies. $5 per person at the gate; $5 for two passes on Groupon. Ammo is extra. 7pm to 11pm.
- The Who’s Tommy at Obsidian Art Space | Friday and Saturday – See the the rock opera based on Pete Townshend and The Who’s classic 1969 double album about a “deaf, dumb and blind kid who sure plays a mean pinball. $37.50; limited $18.75 discount tickets available. 8pm both nights.
- Rice Village Flea Market | Saturday and Sunday | FREE – Pick through a wide array of unique items at this outdoor market. 11am to 6pm both days.
- 19th Annual Children’s Festival in The Woodlands | Saturday and Sunday – Intended for children of all ages, this two-day event is full of activities and entertainment designed to ignite creativity in children. $8 in advance; $10 at the door; free for children under 2. Saturday 10am to 5pm; Sunday noon to 5pm.
- Final Days of True North on the Heights Boulevard Esplanade | Daily – The eight installations of True North are scheduled to be removed this month. Although the Funnel Tunnel has happily remained on Montrose well past its due date, the privately owned installations are expected to depart on, or shortly after schedule.
- Family Activities inside the Loop from BigKidSmallCity | Daily – Find events, recommendations and family-friendly activities from our favorite Houston mom-in-the-know Jill Jarvis of BigKidSmallCity.
- Houston Texans Tickets on Sale | Sponsored – Score tickets to Texans home games. Don’t miss a game and grab hard-to-get seats on Ticket Monster’s resale market.

- First Thursday on Mid Main | FREE – Take a Tango class, catch the Mid Main documentary Panchinko Hut, take part in happy hour and enjoy music from DJ Good Grief, all while benefiting Fresh Arts at the First Thursday Art Garden Party. 5pm to midnight.
- Our Secret Life in the Movies Book Release Party at Grand Prize Bar | Free to attend – Join Brazos Bookstore in celebrating the works of Texas publisher A Strange Object. The event at Grand Prize Bar will be a release party for the book Our Secret Life in the Movies and will feature a reading from co-author Michael McGriff. 6pm to 7pm.

- The Return of Cumbia and Future of Ritmos Americanos at CAMH | FREE – Join Houston-based DJ Gracie Chavez at Contemporary Art Museum Houston as she shares music that she is currently mixing into her sets and how Latin music has influenced her work. 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
- Feel the Power of the Dork Side at the Houstonian Hotel – Laugh while you learn about science and technology in Georgia Tech professor Pete Ludovice’s educational stand up performance. $20; limited discounted $10 tickets available. 7pm.

- Jeffrey Tambor’s Keynote at the Waggoners Foundation Speaker Series’ 2014 Fall Luncheon at Hilton of the Americas – Hear the personal story of Jeffrey Tambor, star of the Larry Sanders Show, Arrested Development and Amazon’s Transparent as he shares his struggle with alcoholism and the love and support that he experienced during his recovery. $150 to $500. Noon to 1:30pm.
- Shabbat on the Green at Godwin Park | FREE – Bring a picnic and a blanket for a Shabbat service in the park accompanied by songs and prayers from The Shabbatones. 6pm.
- Songs of Migrant Workers at Project Row Houses | FREE – Musicians Nick Gaitan and Roberto Rodriguez III will join artist Monica Villarreal during her Migration is? installation for a performance and discussion about the lives and experiences of Latin American migrant workers. 7pm.
- Bastille in Concert at NRG Arena – Rock out to London based band Bastille as their tour makes a stop in Houston. Tickets start at $45, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale market. 7:30pm.
- A Man’s Requiem at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Since premiering the show at Korea’s World Festival of National Theaters, SEOP Dance Company of Korea has tours South Korea and nine other countries. The show combines modern and traditional Korean dance in a display of sound, color and movement. 7:30pm.
- The Brew Mile at Houston Sports Park – Before crossing the finish line of this one-mile race, runners will face the challenge of finishing 4 beers. There will be a post-race party with food trucks and beer from Saint Arnold, and prizes for the best costumes. $75 before November 6; $80 on race day. 7:30pm.
- MFAH Mixed Media – Browse Monet and the Seine: Impressions of a River, the current exhibition at MFAH and enjoy French 75 cocktails, late night sliders and music from DJ Sun, Chicken George and Jump N Funk at this after hours event. $20; $18 MFAH members. 8pm to midnight.
