Things to Do All Weekend Long

  • Comedian Arnez J at Houston Improv | Daily – The Atlanta-native comedian brings his energetic, laugh-out-loud, and profanity-free material to the stage at West Houston’s Improv across four nights. Tickets are sold by the table; $60 for 2 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • Black Restaurant Weeks | Daily; ends Sunday – Celebrate the diverse flavors of African America, African and Caribbean cuisines during the final days of Black Restaurant Weeks, which highlights some of the best Black-owned restaurant to be found across the Greater Houston area. Prices, times and locations vary.
  • Spring Nutcracker Market at NRG Center | Friday to Sunday – The annual Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market re-opens in a new shopping window this year, with a spring spectacular that features all the familiar seasonal items you’ve come to love, plus summer apparel, vacation accessories, gourmet foods, and more across nearly 150 vendors. One-day tickets are $18 in advance; $20 at the door. Times vary.
  • Easter EGG-Stravaganza at Blessington Farms | Saturday & Sunday – The sprawling farm west of Fulshear hosts four days of Easter egg hunts, along with access to all the family fun Blessington is known for, including hayrides, barrel trains, giant slides, animal encounters and more. $24; free for ages 2 and under; egg hunt is $3. 10am to 5pm both days.
  • 2022 Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival at Town Green Park | Saturday & Sunday – The Woodlands Arts Council presents the 2-day Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival at Town Green Park and along the Woodlands Waterway. The outdoor fine arts show features more than 200 local, national and international artists selling their original art in a variety of mediums. Now in its 17th year, the festival also features art activities for all ages, live music, entertainment, and food and drink throughout the weekend. $15 per day; $20 for a weekend pass; free for ages 12 and under. 10am to 6pm both days.
  • 17th Annual Frida Festival at TBH Center / MECA East End | Saturday & Sunday | FREE – Celebrate all things Frida Kahlo at an East End festival featuring lively music, performances, a Frida-inspired fashion show, vendors, food trucks, and plenty of people dressed up as one of Mexico’s most beloved and legendary artists. The weekend also kicks off with a ticketed event on Friday night. 11am to 7pm both days.
  • Crawfish & Zydeco Festival at Kemah Boardwalk | Saturday & Sunday | No Cover – Enjoy live Zydeco music from Curtis Poullard & the Creole Zydeco Band, Zydeco Dots, LT & the Zydeco Mob, and Ruben Morales while you feast on fresh-boiled crawfish and boudin. Noon to 10pm both days. 
  • Texas Bridal & Wedding Expo at George R. Brown Convention Center | Saturday & Sunday | FREE – Visit with a variety of wedding professionals ready to help plan the ultimate wedding day, with everything from wedding gowns and reception venues to invitations and honeymoon destinations. Enjoy bridal fashion shows, DJ demos, prizes and giveaways. Free with registration; $10 at the door. 1pm to 5pm.

  • Catastrophic Theatre presents The Book of Grace at MATCH | Daily | Ongoing – Written by Pulitzer-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks, this production explores border town life in south Texas, familial strife, and the subsequent release from past trauma. Tickets are pay-what-you-can; suggested price of $35, more if you have it and less if you don’t. Showtimes vary.
  • Dog Act at Main Street Theater | Daily | Ongoing – Main Street Theater presents Dog Act, a dark comedy variation on the classic doomsday genre, at its home theater in Rice Village. Zetta Stone, a traveling performer, and her companion Dog wander through the former northeastern United States with their small vaudeville-esque troupe on their way to a gig in China, assuming they can find it. $35 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • 4th Wall Theatre Company presents Gloria at Spring Street Studios | Thursday to Saturday | Ongoing – From 4th Wall Theatre comes this workplace comedy that follows the adventures of an ambitious group of editorial assistants at a notorious New York magazine. $32 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • Stages presents Sunrise Coven at the Gordy | Daily | Closing Weekend – A Texas nurse turns to the dark arts of a local coven to help heal her patients in this gallows-humor comedy that speaks to the ills of American health care with love, wit, and magic. Showtimes vary.
  • Opera in the Heights presents Eugene Onegin at Lambert Hall | Friday & Sunday | Closing Weekend – Oh! returns to the Heights Boulevard stage with Tchaikovsky’s melodic gifts and honest, powerful take on the classic Pushkin novel of love. $34.50 and up. Showtimes vary.
