In our Where to Happy Hour series, we search Houston’s vast array of neighborhoods for the very best libations. Originally published in 2017, we are now refreshing, updating, and adding to this series, including new neighborhoods and destinations.
Lying 20 miles southwest of Downtown, this family-friendly suburb is one of the most affluent and rapidly growing cities in the state. As such, there is plenty to do, including some pretty awesome happy hour offerings.

Where to Happy Hour in Sugar Land
- Japaneiro’s Sushi Bistro & Latin Grill – Mixing Japanese and Latin flavors with flare, this hotspot draws a steady crowd, especially during happy hour, when drinks range from $3 draft beers and $5 wines to $8 prickly pear mojitos. - Jupiter Pizza & Waffles – It’s not all about pizzas and waffles at this Town Square hangout, there’s plenty of happy hour deliciousness to be had, too. Get $3 local drafts, $4 to $5 mimosas, $5 select wines by the glass and $6 meaty marys, plus $3 to $8 eats, from sweet and savory waffle flights to mini pizzas, chicken-fried bacon, and loaded sweet potato fries. - The Rouxpour – With a “laissez-faire” vibe, lively atmosphere and killer patio, this Town Square haunt is a little taste of New Orleans. At happy hour, slurp oysters-on-the-half-shell ($8 per six and $14 per dozen); dig into bites from crab fingers and Cajun deviled eggs to boudin balls and muffaletta sliders ($8 to $9); and wash it all down with $1-off beers, $5 wines by the glass and select cocktails, and $6 martinis. - Vino & Vinyl – Enjoy wine and good times at this wine bar, lounge and record shop. With a West Coast driven list, happy hour features a selection of $5 wines, brews, and bistro bites, from fried risotto and lemon pepper shrimp to chicken dumplings and pork belly bites.
