Scroll down to check for upcoming special evenings and events at City Lights at Avenida Houston in the 2020-21 winter season.
Houston First has transformed Avenida Houston's Downtown plaza into a winter wonderland, complete with a striking array of decorated Christmas trees, lights along the avenue, and seasonal activities.
The Marriott Marquis Houston across the street also is hosting a ticketed outdoor light experience, featuring a one-mile interactive light experience above and around the hotel's Texas-shaped lazy river.
Alley Theater’s Deck the Trees
Normally part of the lobby experience at Alley Theater's annual production of A Christmas Story: A Ghost Story of Christmas, the 28 magical trees are relocated to Houston’s Grand Holiday Window of the GRB Houston facing the plaza for 2020.
Trees are all decorated by Houston’s leading designers.
The Ice at Discovery Green
Since the park is right next to the plaza, visitors are a short walk away from the popular outdoor skating rink, now offering reduced capacity for 2020.
Other park attractions and installations are free to enjoy and explore. Click here for more information about The Ice at Discovery Green.
Texas Winter Lights at the Marriott Marquis Houston
Explore an interactive walk-through or float-under light experience above Discovery Green on the hotel's 60,000 square-foot terrace (which boasts a giant Texas-shaped lazy river).
Every night, the one-mile stretch will be surrounded with an interactive light experience 110-feet above street level, complete with views of the Downtown Houston skyline, overlooking Discovery Green Park.
Light displays include Light Up Sports lawn, Glow Garden, Hanging Icicles and various Instagram-worthy set ups. Guests can purchase s’mores kits to enjoy at the fire pits, rent a cabana for the evening, and enjoy a variety of dining and beverage options.
