- Houston Restaurant Weeks at Multiple Locations | All Month Long – The Houston Food Bank’s biggest fundraiser is back for another year, offering a month-plus of tasty and charitable food and drink. Hundreds of local restaurants are lined up to offer prix-fixe meals for brunch, lunch and dinner (and even to-go), with a set dollar donation from each meal sold benefiting the Houston Food Bank and its mission to end hunger and provide food for better lives. Prices are $25 for brunch and lunch, $39 or $55 for dinner. Times vary.
- White Linen Night in the Heights | Friday, August 3 – The giant outdoor block party and time-honored tradition takes over the historic 19th Street strip in the Heights for another year, this time requiring tickets to attend ($10 and up). Don your finest white linen and join the neighborhood for food and drink, art and shopping, and fun. The community-driven evening serves as a way to showcase local small businesses, quaint shops and restaurants, and celebrate the diverse cultural heritage and spirit of the neighborhood. Other neighborhood spots typically join the action, too, with parties along White Oak, 20th Street, and more (events outside 19th Street are no cover). 6pm to 10pm.
- 47th Annual Harvest Festival at Messina Hof Estate Winery & Resort | Weekends in August – Just a 1.5-hour drive from Houston, Messina Hof hosts its annual harvest festival at its estate winery and resort in Bryan, Texas, bringing daytime and evening activities with unique attractions. Visitors can enjoy grape stomping and picking, moonlit harvests, tours of the grounds, brunch and dinner, dessert and port tasting, and more special events, including a Murder Mystery Dinner (Friday, August 9) and Papa Paulo Port Party (Saturday, August 17). $40 and up. - Boo’s Burgers Pop-Up at Shipley’s Do-Nuts | Sunday, August 4 | No Cover – Award-winning chef Joseph Boudreaux brings a special Boo’s Burgers menu to Shipley’s Do-Nuts on Ardmore Street, near Old Spanish Trail, in a collaboration with an historic Houston franchise. 9am ’til sellout.
- Mr. C’s Pop-Up, featuring Chris Shepherd at Four Seasons Hotel Houston | Sunday, August 4 – The Downtown hotel continues its summer pop-up dinner experience, where Chef Chris Shepherd presents a “Sunday Supper,” taking inspiration from his favorite childhood restaurant in Omaha, Mr. C’s Steakhouse. Expect a dark and moody dining room lit with holiday lights, checkered tablecloths, and Rat Pack–era live music alongside elevated modern Italian classics, from Parmigiano Reggiano with aged balsamic vinegar and baked cacio e pepe to strip steak, chicken parm, and tiramisu. $195, with optional wine pairings starting at $130. Seatings at 5pm and 8pm.
- Houston Chef Series at Multiple Locations | Wednesday, August 7 & Saturday, August 10 – Chef Erick Bocanegra presents “King Ranch Dinner: A Presidential Retreat,” a five-course menu that helps close out Landry’s annual Houston Chef Series, with dishes from stuffed quail and rainbow trout to chocolate blancmange ($125 with beverage pairings; 7pm to 9pm). A few nights later, the series closes out with the Grand Finale Dinner, held at the Post Oak Hotel, highlighting all the featured chefs of the series. Finale tickets are $200; 6pm to 10pm.
- Tiki Takeover Dinner at Brenner’s on the Bayou | Thursday, August 8 – Set on the banks of Buffalo Bayou, Brenner’s will be serving up a four-course Caribbean-inspired menu paired with rum cocktails. Enjoy dishes like seared tuna in coconut broth, Polynesian glazed short rib, and more. $175. 7pm.
- Mixers & Elixirs at Houston Museum of Natural Science | Friday, August 9 – Experience the museum after dark and with a cocktail in hand as HMNS opens its doors for the summertime Mixers & Elixirs event. Guests can hang with the dinos, hit the dance floor, enjoy cash bars, and chow down on food truck eats. $25. 7pm to 10pm.
- Plants & Prosecco at The Plant Project Houston | Sunday, August 11 | FREE – The plant shop at Montrose Collective hosts an afternoon party with botanicals, beats and burgers. Come out for free plants and free prosecco, along with Boo’s Burgers and DJ Sage. 1pm to 3pm.
- Alex vs. America Viewing Party at Craft Pita | Sunday, August 11 – Come out to watch Chef Raffi compete on the Food Network series, Alex vs. America, in a battle of Mediterranean food against Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli. Admission to the viewing party will get you two dishes made by Chef Raffi in the episode, plus alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. $50. 7:30pm to 9pm.
- Malibu Barbie Cafe at JunctionHTX Beer Garden | Select dates starting Friday, August 16 – Take in a Barbiecore dining experience alongside fun stuff like a groovy roller rink. Enjoy a fast-casual menu created by Master Chef finalist and Chopped Champion Chef Becky Brown, emphasizing all-day fare with dishes like Pacific paradise pancakes, west coast wave salad, and tubular tenders, plus curated cocktails like the Think Pink Margarita or the Cali Collins, and tasty desserts. $25 and up, including a $10 food credit, $5 merch credit, and 90-minute table reservation. - Back to School Bash at Feges BBQ | Wednesday, August 21 | No Cover – Feges BBQ invites families out to its annual bash at the Spring Branch location on Long Point Road. Hit the build-your-own-dirt-pie station, dig into housemade sausage corn dogs, enjoy the play area, and fill up on tasty ‘q. Kids ages 12 and under eat for free, and additionally, every Feges BBQ kids meal includes a complimentary scoop of Cosmic ice cream. 5pm to 9pm.
- Galveston Island Wine Festival at Moody Gardens | Friday, August 30 to Sunday, September 1 – The weekend-long Galveston Island Wine Festival brings fun and flavor to the island, with signature events including the Seven on Seven Seafood Extravaganza, Saturday’s Penguins & Pinot Grand Tasting, Sunday’s Bourbon Dinner, and more. This year’s impressive list of culinary talents includes Bryan Caswell, David Cordúa, and Paul Miller, among others. Pricing varies by package. Times vary.
- National Deli Month at Kenny & Ziggy’s | All month long – Every August, more than 45 delis around the continent offer prix fixe menus or specials on signature dishes to raise money for a cause. Kenny & Ziggy’s New York Delicatessen will be raising funds for the Holocaust Museum Houston by offering a multi-choice, three-course menu during lunch and dinner for $45, plus tax and gratuity. Each meal also includes a complimentary ticket to HMH.
