Celebrate art, culture and community at White Linen Night in the Heights on 19th Street and other pop-up events throughout the greater neighborhood on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

The annual summer soiree known as White Linen Night in the Heights returns to 19th Street, packing the popular district with thousands of people dressed in their crispest, lightest and whitest linens in a tradition that began in New Orleans.

Since its Houston start in 2003, the event shuts down traffic across two blocks, helping draw support for the local businesses and artists that call Houston home.

Aside from the official events, plenty of Heights shops, restaurants and other businesses will be hosting a variety of mini-festivities and pop-up parties throughout the evening.

Here are several ways you can spend 2024 White Linen Night in the Greater Heights area:

Join the party on 19th Street

For more than two decades, 19th Street has been the premier destination for the Heights’ biggest block party, held across a two-block stretch from Ashland to Yale Street.

The shops and restaurants that line this area open their doors to the public for a night of live music, DJs, deals and drinks. Plus, you can shop, sip and stroll along 19th where local artists, makers and vendors will host pop-ups throughout the night.

Historically a free event, this year will require a ticket purchase that organizers hope will help control crowd sizes that have overwhelmed in recent years.

Tickets are $10 through Wednesday, July 31, 2024, increasing closer to the night of the event.

Hit up the 2nd Annual White Linen Night Market at M-K-T

Houston Plant Market returns to M-K-T for the second edition of this White Linen Night event, which offers a less crowded, outdoor marketplace with 50 local plant and artisan vendors.

The dog and family-friendly market will bring the vibes with live DJs and a Second Line jazz procession from Hot City Brass Band, and beverages from HOW Water and Eureka Heights. Plus, select boutiques and shops will stay open late for cool in-store features like a karaoke happy hour at Chloe Dao, and unique Astros swag drops at Eight One Apparel.

Stop by the Houston Plant Market Community Tent to participate in a live community arts activity, and try your luck at a raffle featuring more than $4,000 in prizes from M-K-T hotspots and sponsors like Artechouse Houston.

Go crawling along White Oak Drive

For a lively nightlife vibe, try getting into the White Linen Night fun along White Oak Drive and its strip of popular bars and restaurants.

The walkable stretch offers a chance to stop by several local spots like the Glow Party taking place at Little Woodrow’s, down toward EZ’s Liquor Lounge, Onion Creek Cafe, Bobcat Teddy’s and more familiar faves.

Along the way, enjoy live music and DJs, drink specials and food trucks, and pop-ups for artists and local vendors.

Head off the beaten path into Greater Heights

At locations throughout Greater Heights, you can partake in White Linen Night fun with much less of the crowds that congregate in the main areas of the Heights.

Here are just a few places we recommend for a different kind of vibe:

  • Agave & Art: White Linen Event at Elevate Creative Studios – The Near Northside gallery hosts a White Linen Night bash with agave-based cocktails, a live DJ, and food in a celebration of creativity. $25 and up. 3pm to 9pm.
  • White Linen Night at Heights Bier Garten | No Cover – Off Shepherd Drive, the spacious digs of the Heights Bier Garten host a White Linen bash with live music from Good Time Muffin Band, a 360 photobooth, a best dressed contest, DJ Jimmy Jamz and more. Doors at 11am; festivities from 5pm to midnight.
  • White Linen Night at Stomping Grounds | FREE – This first ever celebration at Stomping Grounds on 34th Street will offer a pop-up market of 30 local artists and makers, plus a Jim Beam cocktail lounge, music from Bayou City Funk and DJ Good Soul, tastes of local restaurants, and bars serving up featured cocktails. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Dem Roots & Galvezton in Concert at Dan Electro’s – On 24th Street, the guitar bar hosts a night of live music featuring reggae from Dem Roots, and a vinyl release party for the rock group led by Robert Kuhn, Galvezton. $10. 8pm to 2am.
