This month’s lineup of culinary happenings are keeping up with the Houston heat.

Back for another run is the Houston Food Bank’s biggest fundraiser, Houston Restaurant Weeks, running all month long and through Labor Day weekend. There’s also an annual harvest festival, beer-fueled feast for a cause, and more.

Top 15 Food & Drink Festivals & Events in Houston This Month: August 2023

  • Houston Restaurant Weeks at Multiple Locations | Tuesday, August 1 to Monday, September 4 – The Houston Food Bank’s biggest fundraiser returns for another year, offering a month-plus of tasty and charitable food and drink. Over 200 local restaurants are lined up to offer prix fixe meals for brunch, lunch and dinner (and even to-go), with a set dollar donation from each meal sold benefiting the Houston Food Bank and its mission to end hunger and provide food for better lives. Prices are $25 for brunch and lunch, $39 or $55 for dinner. Times vary by location.
  • Whisky & Wagyu: The Distiller Series at Uchiko Houston | Wednesday, August 2 Continuing its bi-monthly Whisky & Wagyu series, Uchiko Houston presents a dinner collaboration with Michter’s Distillery, unveiling a special menu of brand new Wagyu dishes with cocktail pairings, which will also be available for Wednesday dinner service through October 4. Prices vary; reservations required. 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
  • Landry’s Houston Chef Series: Dining Through History at Multiple Locations | Wednesdays, August 2 & 9; Saturday, August 12 – Landry’s invites guests to dine through history during its annual Houston Chef Series this summer, held on select Wednesday evenings with a Grand Finale celebration on Saturday, August 12. Chef Robert Garcia of The Palm hosts a five-course menu inspired by 1926 New York’s “melting pot” (Wednesday, August 2; $125), while Executive Chef Erick Bocanegra presents a “Texas Two Step” at King Ranch Texas Kitchen (Wednesday, August 9; $125). Finally, Chefs Jean-Luc Royere and Michael Frietsch of the Post Oak Hotel close the series with a Grand Ballroom dinner featuring courses paired with cocktails and wine, devised by participating chefs of the Houston Chef Series, for $200. All dinners at 7pm.
  • Saint Arnold Beer Dinner at Radio Milano | Thursday, August 3 – Radio Milano at CityCentre is hosting a four-course beer dinner featuring Saint Arnold beers paired with courses from Executive Chef Christian Cardenas. Highlights include Scallop Crudo paired with Saint Arnold Summer Ale, and Smoked Sirloin paired with Saint Arnold Amber Ale. $95. 6pm to 8pm.
  • 46th Annual Harvest Festival at Messina Hof Estate Winery & Resort | Weekends in August – Held on weekends (mostly Fridays and Saturdays), Messina Hof hosts its annual harvest festival at its estate winery and resort in Bryan, Texas. Visitors can enjoy grape stomping and picking, tours of the grounds, wine tasting and special events including Murder Mystery Dinners, a Luau BBQ, and Food & Wine Pairing Class. $40 and up. Times vary.
  • White Linen Night in the Heights | Saturday, August 5 | No Cover Held on the first Saturday of August, the annual block party, White Linen Night, will take over 19th Street, with shops, restaurants, vendors and artists welcoming locals for a shop, sip and stroll from 6pm to 10pm. Other neighborhood spots get in on the fun, too, with parties along White Oak, 20th Street and more.
  • Feast of Saint Arnold at Saint Arnold Brewing Company | Sunday, August 6 – Saint A’s annual fundraiser for Texas Children’s Hospital returns for its 13th year, raising funds for the hospital’s Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center. Guests will arrive to hors d’oeuvres and aperitif beers before the Feast kicks off at 5:45pm. The menu includes courses for seafood, poultry, beef, pork and dessert, with highlights such as Shrimp and Scallop Ravigote Salad, Bone In Pork Chop with Creole Dijon Sauce and Lemon Tiramisu. $140; includes all food and beer plus a commemorative Feast of Saint Arnold pint glass. 5pm.

  • The Insatiable Glass & Live Jazz at Ouisie’s Table Restaurant & Gardens | Thursday, August 10 – Ouisie’s continues its once-a-month summer jazz and wine series, The Insatiable Glass & Live Jazz. Along with a live set from local jazz group Times 4, guests who purchase a main course can enjoy endless wine sampling for $35. Reservations are strongly encouraged as space is limited. 6pm to 9pm.
  • Platinum Wine Vault Tasting at Bayway Cadillac of the Woodlands | Friday, August 11 Wine & Food Week will offer this summertime version of its signature event, the Platinum Wine Vault Luxury Tasting. The luxe affair transports guests around the globe via exquisite wines and bites. $150. 6pm to 9pm.
  • The Art of Fufu Show at Big Brothers Big Sisters | Friday, August 11 | FREE – The third annual Art of Fufu show centers on creativity with a display of artwork that channels the love of this West African staple dish. Witness live food demonstrations and engage in a night of culture among artists, art enthusiasts and food connoisseurs on Washington Avenue. Free, but donations are welcomed. 7pm to 9pm.
  • 7th Anniversary Party at Eureka Heights Brewing Co. | Saturday, August 12 | FREE – Throw it back to the ’90s for this birthday bash that celebrates seven years of Eureka Heights’ tasty brews. Get munchies from steak night chef Daniel from South Korean eatery Yong, enjoy live ska from The Suspects, snag exclusive ’90s merch, and shop local vendors. Noon to 6pm.
  • Tiki Takeover Dinner at Brenner’s on the Bayou | Thursday, August 17 – The River Oaks restaurant on the banks of Buffalo Bayou is serving up a five-course Caribbean-inspired menu paired with rum cocktails. Enjoy dishes like sweet and spicy sticky ribs, vadouvan-spiced snapper, Hawaiian ribeye kabobs, and more. $150. 7pm to 10pm.
  • Backyard Jamboree at Truck Yard | Saturday, August 19 | No Cover – Fun-loving EaDo hangout Truck Yard is throwing a “Backyard Jamboree” all day and a “Drop Your Pants” party by night. From 11am to 9pm, all ages are welcome to enjoy the jamboree, featuring a watermelon eating contest, free games, drinks specials, and fun. From 9pm to close, those 21 and above can keep the party going, and even drop their pants (don’t forget your undies!) and donate to a good cause. The fun event will raise funds for Arms of Hope – Houston and its mission to transform the lives of disadvantaged youth and families. 11am to 2am.
  • 23rd Anniversary Party at Flying Saucer Houston | Sunday, August 20 | No Cover – Downtown beer emporium Flying Saucer is celebrating its 23rd Anniversary with a “Cowboys vs Aliens” themed bash. Pop in to hit the photobooth, try your hand at classic country karaoke, and enjoy special beer tappings and more. 11am to 2am.
  • Dreamhouse Boutique Cafe at Popfancy Dessert Bar | Through Sunday, August 20 – For three weeks, Barbie fans can take to the Bellaire dessert bar for a Barbie-themed takeover, featuring a life-sized doll house, a special menu, live DJ, photo ops, cosplay and trivia nights—plus themed dress-up weeks. Walk-ins welcome Monday to Thursday; reservations recommended for weekends. 1pm to 10pm daily.
