- Harry Styles with Jenny Lewis at Toyota Center (Postponed) | Monday, September 13 – Update 9/13/21: Due to the approaching Tropical Storm Nicolas, this show has been rescheduled once again. Ticketholders should hang on to their tickets until a new date is announced. Originally scheduled in August 2020, this concert sees One Direction’s Harry Styles arrive to play songs from his award-winning album, Fine Line, joined by former Rilo Kiley lead singer, Jenny Lewis. $39.50 to $149.50, but you may find better or cheaper tickets using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 8pm.
- Comedian Mo Amer at White Oak Music Hall | Tuesday, September 14 – Best known for his Netflix comedy special, Mo Amer: The Vagabond, this Palestinian American comedian who grew up in Houston returns to the stage, performing two sets that will be recorded for an upcoming release. $25. 6pm and 9pm.
- Lerner & Loewe’s My Fair Lady at Hobby Center | Tuesday, September 14 to Sunday, September 19 – The beloved musical kicks off its US tour in Houston, bringing the story of a stuffy professor, Henry Higgins, who bets he can refine plucky flower seller Eliza Doolittle. With songs like “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly,” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face,” this Lincoln Center production is sure to dazzle Houston audiences. Tickets start at $35. Showtimes vary.
- Apollo Chamber Players present With Malice Toward None at University of Houston-Clear Lake | Wednesday, September 15 – Mark the 20th anniversary of 9/11, and the season opener for Apollo Chamber Players, with the world premiere of With Malice Toward None, a story by Vietnam veteran and Composer J. Kimo Williams that weaves together the enlightenment philosophies of Ludwig van Beethoven and President Lincoln, at MATCH in Midtown. $35 in advance; $40 at the door. 7:30pm.
- El Grito, featuring Cambalache at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Wednesday, September 15 | FREE | Virtual Option – The annual Grito ceremony returns to the Hermann Park stage with Cambalache, a Chicano-Jarocho group from East Los Angeles that reflects the heritage and culture of Mexico through participatory performances of music and dance. You can also catch a livestream of this performance on Miller’s website, YouTube, and Facebook. 7:30pm.
- 2021 Pasadena BBQ Cook Off at Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo Grounds | Thursday, September 16 to Saturday, September 18 – The annual cook off event to kick off the Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo returns, featuring mouth-watering entries from nearly 90 teams across three days of smoked grilling goodness. $15 for single-day tickets. 5pm to midnight daily.
- Comedian Ali Siddiq at Houston Improv | Thursday, September 16 to Sunday, September 19 – A frequent guest to the Improv, Houston native Ali Siddiq can recently be seen performing on The D.L. Hughley Show, and as a Top 5 finalist on NBC’s comedy competition, Bring the Funny. He’ll take the mic for a series of sets across four days at the Improv. Tickets start at $40 for 2. Times vary.
- Autumn Acres Gift Market at the Robinson Pavilion in Katy | Friday, September 17 & Saturday, September 18 – Get a leg up on all your fall and Christmas shopping at a market featuring unique, handcrafted items, photo booths, food and drinks for sale, and more goods from small businesses in Katy. $5 admission, valid for re-admission on both days. 10am to 6pm both days.
- Houston Dynamo FC vs. FC Dallas at BBVA Stadium | Saturday, September 18 – After a late 2–2 draw in August, the Dynamo get another crack at their rivals from up north. $20 to over $100, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7:30pm.
- The Houston Jazz Festival 2021 at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Saturday, September 18 | FREE | Virtual Option – Witness a powerful tribute to the American Experience under the stars with headlining performances by artists Shelley Carrol and Mike Moreno; a performance of John Coltrane’s magnum opus “A Love Supreme” in its entirety by Quincy Davis, Fred Sanders and Tim Ruiz; as well as artwork by Jack Whitten.
