  • Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers Series at Minute Maid Park | Monday, May 4 to Wednesday, May 6 – Start the week off with this three-game AL Western division matchup between the Astros and the Rangers at Minute Maid Park. Try the new chicken and waffle cone while you’re there. Tickets start at $10, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork or Ticket Monster’s resale sites. 7:10pm nightly.
  • Offshore Technology Conference at NRG Park | Monday, May 4 to Thursday, May 7 – The Offshore Technology Conference brings over 100,000 industry professionals from around the world to NRG Park for a week of cutting edge technology, equipment and networking. $280 4-day; $240 1-day; $180 4-day member; $140 1-day member; $100 4-day university student; complimentary 1-day registration for university students.
  • Cigar and Scotch Mixer at Tony Mandola’s | Tuesday, May 5 – Mix and mingle on the patio of Tony Mandola’s during this On The Rocks Mixer. Your ticket includes 2 dozen oysters on the half shell, two glasses of scotch and your choice of cigar. $125 per person. 5pm to 9pm.
  • Children’s Writing Workshop at IKEA | Tuesday, May 5 | FREE – Children in second through eighth grade are encouraged to attend a free writing workshop organized by WITS at IKEA. Kids will get creative with the theme of Mother’s Day and can take advantage of IKEA’s kids eat free Tuesdays. 6pm to 7pm.
  • Bob Dylan in Concert at Bayou Music Center | Tuesday, May 5Influential singer-songwriter Bob Dylan is making his way down to Texas on his tour that will hit a handful of US cities before heading to Europe this summer. This show marks the first time Dylan will perform in the Bayou City since 2009. Tickets start at $108.50, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork or Ticket Monster’s resale sites. 8pm.
  • Cinco de Mayo Events Around Houston | Tuesday, May 5 – Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Houston with some of the city’s best bars and restaurants. Head downtown to catch a festive parade and get ready for a day of culture and cuisine. See list for details of events.
  • Houston Dynamo vs. San Jose Earthquakes at BBVA Compass Stadium | Tuesday, May 5 – Cheer the Houston Dynamo on to a home victory over the Earthquakes from San Jose during this Western conference game. Tickets start at $24 and you may find cheaper or better seats on the TicketNetwork or Ticket Monster resale markets. 7:30pm.
  • Wanda Sykes at Bayou Music Center | Friday, May 8 – See the hilarious Wanda Sykes perform her stand up bits at Bayou Music Center. The Emmy Award-winning writer has appeared in numerous films, television shows and comedy specials. Tickets start at $35, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork or Ticket Monster’s resale sites. 8pm.
  • Houston Ballet’s Sons de L’ame Screening at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday, May 8 | FREE – If you weren’t able to make the world premiere of the Sons de L’ame documentary at the 2014 Houston Cinema Arts Festival, you won’t want to miss this free screening at Miller Outdoor Theatre. The film showcases performances by the Houston Ballet set to piano pieces from Frédéric Chopin. 8:30pm.
  • Bayou Jamboree & Gumbo Showdown at Market Square Park | Saturday, May 9 – Sample gumbo from competing teams in a showdown at Market Square Park. Enjoy music from The Hustlers Brass Band and Pine Leaf Boys. Treebeard’s will have a pop-up booth with Cajun bites and Saint Arnold will be pouring from the taps. Awards will be given for the best gumbo. 2pm to 6pm.
  • TxFest at Hermann Square Park | Saturday, May 9 – Jam out at TxFest with a lineup of 25 bands including Texas Country singer Kevin Fowler and Houston-based groups like BLSHS, Wild Moccasins and Young Girls at Hermann Square Park. $25; $80 VIP; limited comped and discounted $12.50 and $40 VIP tickets available. 10am to 10pm.
