  • MLK Day Events in Greater Houston | Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 16 – Take time in 2023 to honor the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at these parades and festivals in Houston. Times vary.
  • 45th Original MLK Jr. Parade & Festival in Downtown Houston | Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 16 | FREE – Black Heritage Society’s 45th edition of the original Downtown parade will be led by City of Houston dignitaries, marching bands, floats, peaceful marches and more. The procession begins at Lamar and Smith Streets, followed by the MLK Festival at the steps of City Hall. 10am to 5pm.
  • Trading Card Game Con at George R. Brown Convention Center | Saturday, January 21 & Sunday, January 22 – Trading Card Game Con (TCG-CON) is a convention bringing together fans and collectors of trading cards, with more than 100 vendors selling sports cards, Pokémon, Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, card accessories, and more. Single day tickets start at $25. Saturday 8am to 8pm; Sunday 8am to 6pm.
  • Arbor Day Celebration at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center | Saturday, January 21 | FREE – Study up with the family on the importance of trees at the Arbor Day celebration at the Arboretum, where you can also try your hand at lumberjack games, set out on a tree hike, watch tree-climbing demonstrations, and enjoy other family-friendly booths and activities. Plus, you can even bring a tree home from the on-site sale. 10am to 2pm.
  • 2023 Lunar New Year Festival: Year of the Rabbit at Chinese Community Center | Saturday, January 21 | FREE – Celebrate the Year of the Rabbit at the Lunar New Year Festival in Bellaire with a full-day of family-friendly fun with lion and dragon dances, cultural performances, local vendors and food merchants, merch and more. 10am to 4pm.
  • Lunar New Year Bash at Children’s Museum Houston | Saturday, January 21 – The annual celebration returns to CMH in Museum District, celebrating Houston’s diverse Asian heritage with a day of arts and crafts, lion dances, and more. $15. 10am to 6pm.
  • Houston Astros FanFest at Minute Maid Park | Saturday, January 21 | FREE – Gather with fellow fanatics celebrating the Astros’ second World Series win at the annual FanFest held at Minute Maid. You’ll have the chance to meet favorite players, alumni and broadcasters, plus take advantage of photo ops with the World Series trophy, play games and more. Though free to attend, you must claim a voucher in advance to enter. 11am to 4pm.
  • Make a Winter Wand at William Price Distilling | Saturday, January 21 | FREE – Stop by the Garden Oaks distillery for a Saturday kids craft activity, where kiddos can make winter wands while you sip on locally distilled spirits. 2pm to 5pm.
  • Unspeakable Live at Toyota Center | Saturday, January 21 – Have some fun with Nathan, James, and Gabe from the popular YouTube channel, Unspeakable, as they bring their high energy antics live to the stage, along with special guest Prestonplayz, and chances to win cool prizes. $39.99 and up. 5pm.
  • Children’s Texas Art Festival at Bayou Bend Collection & Gardens | Sunday, January 22 | FREE – The Children’s Texas Art Festival celebrates art—created by and for children—that helps forge a connection to Texas and American heritage at Bayou Bend. Activities include art demonstrations, live music, art workshops, and more. 1pm to 5pm.
