• 2023 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo at NRG Park | Daily to Sunday, March 19 | Ongoing – This year’s Rodeo kicks off on Tuesday, offering three weeks of carnival fun, festival eats, livestock and petting zoos, a vendor marketplace, and a nightly main event of bronco bustin’ and headlining concerts. • Houston Holi: Festival of Colors at BH Ranch | Saturday, March 4 – From Masala Radio comes the city’s—if not one of the country’s—biggest Holi festivals, featuring a live concert by Rap Star Bali, plus Bollywood dancing, color play, DJs spinning tunes, dhol players, street foods, free carnival rides, giveaways and more. Early bird tickets are $12; $15 at the gates; free for ages 4 and under. 11am to 5pm.
• New Beginnings Spring Festival at Museum of Fine Arts Houston | Sunday, March 5 | FREE – Heralding the opening of the New Galleries for Art of the Islamic Worlds at MFAH, this free afternoon festival celebrates spring and the festive traditions from across the Middle East and Asia. Enjoy music and dance performances, poetry, food from local vendors, art activities and more. 1pm to 5pm.
• 51st Annual Regatta on Buffalo Bayou | Saturday, March 11 – The 8.5-mile Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta starts and finishes from Allen’s Landing in Downtown as part of Houston’s longstanding tradition. Open to ages 12 and up, you can race competitively or for fun, with finish line festivities like music, food and more that are open to all. Registration is $55 and up; post-race party is free. 7:30am to 2:30pm.
• 7th Annual Hootenanny at Eureka Heights Brew Co. | Saturday, March 11 | FREE – Eureka Heights is dusting off its cowboy boots for the return of its Rodeo season favorite event, the annual Hootenanny. Expect daytime two-stepping alongside music from country artists Libby Koch and the Dealers, bbq goodness from Deckle and Hide, artisan vendors, games, and the release of its beloved Golden Buckle Cream Ale. 1pm to 6pm.
• Moon 2 Mars Festival at Space Center Houston | Saturday, March 11 to Sunday, March 19 – This week-long festival at Johnson Space Center celebrates the innovations that power space exploration with looks at cutting-edge space tech, immersive experiences and astronaut appearances, plus four days of live concerts to round out the festivities, including sets from Sister Hazel, Rick Springfield and Bidi Bidi Banda, the Selena tribute band. $44.95 and up; $39.95 for ages 4 to 11; free for ages 3 and under. 9am to 5pm.
• Preservation Hall Jazz Band in Concert at Jones Hall | Tuesday, March 14 – The legendary New Orleans jazz band brings Bourbon Street to Downtown Houston, celebrating their 60th anniversary. $29 and up. 7:30pm.
• Spring Break: Nowruz at Asia Society Texas Center | Tuesday, March 14 to Friday, March 17 | FREE – Celebrate the Persian New Year at Asia Society by celebrating life in harmony with nature through a week of hands-on arts and craft activities and storytelling at the Museum District center for cultural and community diversity. 11am to 2pm.
• Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Lakers at Toyota Center | Wednesday, March 15 – As the season starts to wind down, the Rockets will host a Lakers squad desperate to make the playoffs. Slated to appear is NBA All-Time Scoring Leader LeBron James and Anthony Davis (appearances subject to change). $48 and up. 7pm.
• 16th Lucky’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival 2023 near Minute Maid Park | Friday, March 17 – Though no longer held at Lucky’s signature East Downtown location, this annual St. Patrick’s Day bash spans three city blocks outside of Minute Maid Park, featuring two stages of live music, flowing green beer, bagpipers and more party entertainment. Advance tickets are $10; VIP passes available. 10am to 2am.
• Houston Dynamo FC vs. Austin FC at Shell Energy Stadium | Saturday, March 18 – After kicking off a new season on the road, the Dynamo face nearby rivals for a home opener to the 2023 MLS season. $25 and up. 7:30pm.
• Bayou City Art Festival at Memorial Park | Friday, March 24 to Sunday, March 26 – Houston’s iconic art festival returns this spring with artwork from more than 300 artists across 19 different categories, all on display for festival goers to oooh and aaah at. The weekend festival will also showcase two entertainment stages, a food truck park, and beverage stations throughout Memorial Park, plus you can get a look at the Park’s latest addition with the brand new land bridge across Memorial Drive. $18; $5 for ages 6 to 12; free for ages 5 and under. 10am to 6pm.
• Tomball German Heritage Festival in Old Town Tomball | Friday, March 24 to Sunday, March 26 | FREE – Tomball’s annual German Fest fills the streets with more than 200 vendors rocking antiques, arts and crafts, and more; plus cultural music, street performances, a Heritage Center, and tasty German fare, festival eats, and beer and wine. The weekend-long event is family-friendly and free to attend, with free parking and a shuttle service on Saturday and Sunday as well. Times vary.
• Kite Festival at Hermann Park | Sunday, March 26 | FREE – One of Hermann Park’s signature events of the year, the Kite Festival at the Hermann hill offers a day of kite flying and fun, with other activities like live music, DJs, interactive games, face painting and more. 10am to 3pm.
• Opening Day: Houston Astros vs. Chicago White Sox at Minute Maid Park | Thursday, March 30 – The Astros run it back for a shot at dynasty greatness with a four-game series against Chicago that kicks off with a World Series celebration on Opening Day. $130 and up. 6pm.
